Friday Musings

Guys, I didn't think it was possible but I am MORE sore today compared to yesterday. Day two of AIDA rehearsals was FABULOUS. They split us up into two groups - guys and girls. The guys went off to learn their dance and the girls stayed and learned a different dance. If you're familiar with the music - we were learning the choreography for "My Strongest Suit." This dance is saucy, flirty, and FUN. It also features more "real" dancing compared to musical dancing. There are real-live fouettés en tournant in this piece! (see an amazing video HERE to see what I'm talking about!) I definitely worked REALLY hard and was uber tired by the end, but it felt oh so fabulous. I spent a lot of time last night stretching before going to bed, but I'm still sore today. Lucky for me we don't have choreography rehearsal again for a few days. :o)

So, I've been thinking. (A dangerous past time...I know. [name the movie!]) What have I been thinking about you ask? Astrology. I know, odd topic, right? Well..I don't take a TON of stock into horoscopes and astrological sign compatibility, but I do think it is a TON of fun to see what might happen if astrology is real at all. So, here I am sharing a few fun facts with you.

Fact one: sometimes horoscopes just WORK. Ya know? Like my one for the other day:

 Romance and marriage are very much on your mind today, Alishka. A special encounter with a possible love partner could have you hankering toward "living happily ever after." Books on attracting and maintaining relationships might be especially appealing as well as useful. Take care not to put too much stock in detailed analyses, however. Remember that such books are of necessity based on generalities, and you are a unique individual.

Doesn't that just sound lovely? The fun thing is that romance and marriage HAVE been on my mind. In fact, I even dreamed about marriage last night. It was a very odd dream.

Fact two: compatibility tests are fun! After Percy added me as a friend on Facebook, I took the opportunity to look at his birthday and then look up his astrological sign to see how we might be compatible. It just so happens that he is a Virgo while I am a Pisces. One of the best combinations ever. Don't believe me...ask the dishes! (again- name the movie!) or you can read THIS. fabulous no?

and Finally....

Fact three: on the dating site that Percy and I met on there is a compatibility test that you take to see how you match up with others on the dating site. It has a few levels of match ability that narrow in possibility. For example there is Very Good (which is a huge chunk of the scale) followed by High (a smaller chunk), Very High (an even smaller chunk/possibility) and then Extremely High (which is so minuscule it almost doesn't exist.) Most people that I see on this site match me in the Very Good area. I have seen several in the High section, a couple in the Very High, but never a person in the Extremely High area of compatibility. Can you guess which one Percy falls under?  If you guessed Very High, then you would be correct! While this isn't the sole reason why I said hello that very first time...it did play a part in it. So far, that little compatibility test has been spot on. We seem to be REALLY compatible. (that could change, and I do realize that. I don't put all my stock in that little 20 minute test I took)

So there you go. A little insight to the world of compatibility, horoscopes and ME. I find it highly entertaining on a daily basis. :o) What about you? Do you take stock in what the stars say will happen to YOU on any given day?? Does a person's sign make a difference to you? Would you believe a compatibility test if it told you that a certain someone and you were highly compatible? I'm curious!!

things for a Thursday

I have always really, really liked Thursdays. There is something about a Thursday and knowing that your weekend is JUST about here that makes my heart happy. :o) Anyways, my mind is overwhelmed with several thoughts...so here we go! things for a Thursday!

• There is exactly one week until Sister B's wedding. Hard to believe it's finally upon us!

• There are 9 days until the show. GAH! I need to finish rat costumes!!

• I got my hairs did last night. I'm very happy with how they turned out!

• I also got super cute green glitter toes! Makes my heart happy!

• I only have the work day today + the work day tomorrow and 2.5 ballet classes between me and what is probably going to be the BUSIEST week of 2011.

• I am singing a solo in church in 10 days. I'm a tad nervous.

• I changed my audition song for Aida....I'm a much happier person with the new audition song.

• oh yeah, I'm auditioning for Aida. Yes, it's the same week as EVERYTHING else in my life, but I REALLY want to be in Aida!

• I get to see my family in 4 days!! WOO HOO!!!

• I have a lunch date with Percy tomorrow. :o) I'm excited for that!!

• Have you seen the Google homepage today? It is awesome-sauce. Love it.

I feel like there are about 100 other things that I've been meaning to tell you...but I just can't think of any of them right now. sigh. oh well! Have a great Thursday peeps!

Good Things and Bad Things

Hi Guys. Guess what? It's almost the weekend!!! Huzzah for that! Anyways, I'm full of all sorts of things today so here goes..

• Good thing: Sister B found shoes for her wedding. HUZZAH!

• Bad thing: I have not found shoes for the wedding. :( granted, i have 7 more weeks to figure that out.

• Good thing: we talked LOTS of wedding things and are sort of getting somewhere?

• Bad thing: there is still SO MUCH to do and only 7 WEEKS until the big day! (FROM TODAY!)

• Good thing: rehearsal got changed on Saturday so my whole day won't be spent at the studio

• Bad thing: I have no plans for this weekend. I want plans. 

• Good thing: because I have no plans I MIGHT be able to get my house clean! It was so clean a month ago after I did my Spring Cleaning Extravaganza...it needs some help again.

• Good thing: I haven't eaten any sweets (yay no sugar diet!) since Monday. I'm awesome.

• Bad thing: work is stressing me out (new system is going to KILL me!) and I REALLY wish I could eat my weight in chocolate right now.

• Good thing: I look cute today.

As you can see, the good things definitely outweigh the bad...and in the meantime I am trying to live by this motto:

Thursday Things etc etc

Hey guys. It's Thursday. I've always loved Thursdays. If you've followed me for any length of time then you know this truth about me. Anyways, I'm full of thoughts today (especially ones on dating) so all comments will be welcome on today's post.

• First off, one of my internet buddies, Gretchen, is hosting a giveaway. I have always wanted a Shabby Apple dress and I'm really hoping to own one someday.

• I have been on a lot of dates recently. I am going on a lot of dates in the near future. I like dating.

• This leads me to ask though - at what point do you draw the line with physical affection? Do you hold hands before being a couple? Cuddle? Kiss? I have some rules for the aforementioned items, but I'm wondering what all of you think.

• I really am wondering because cuddling with The Australian is going very well and it seems that he likes me a lot and that there is a possibilty for more. I've toyed with the idea of kissing him, but it goes against my rule of kissing someone w/out a commitment factor being there...thougths? 

• Also, I want to go on a REAL date with The Australian. How do I make this happen?

• I met the guy from this blog a week ago. I can't stop thinking about him (he made a really good first impression) and I really want to go on a date with him...but I'm not sure how to go about initiating that. Thoughts?

• Next on my mind with dating I connected with this guy on Twitter who I think seems really cool and I'd like to get to know him more. suggestions? thoughts?

• is it weird that I want to connect with so many people I meet through the internet?

• Maybe it's not?

• I really do enjoy where I am in the dating scene....liking so many boys is fun!

• However, one boy told me the other day that he would be scared away by a forward girl. Is this true guys? Is being forward awkward? weird? Does it turn you off?

• Does this mean I shouldn't do anything about the aforementioned boys?

•  I really need your suggestions

• Easter candy is my downfall right now.

• My abs and glutes class is kicking my trash.

• I'm wondering if I need to try to go to the gym early in the morning seeing as how I'm skipping the gym a lot of days to go on dates.

• But dates are good right?

• And waking up to get to the gym at like 5am? not sure that can ever happen realistically...

sigh. too many thoughts guys. too many thoughts.

Top o'the Mornin' to ya lads and lassies! I hope you're having a lucky day! I also hope you're wearing green! Wouldn't want to get pinched now would we?? :o) Anyways, let's get this party started shall we?

• I love Thursdays. Even when I have to work on Friday, my Thursdays are always fabulous. :o)

• I love the color green. I wear A LOT of green. My problem with St. Patrick's Day isn't "where's some green to wear?" it's more along the lines of "WHAT green-filled outfit shall I wear this year?" This year I went with green socks, a green striped shirt w/green under shirt, a green headband, earrings, and fingernail polish. Nobody's going to be pinching me!! :o)

• I flirty texted Tron yesterday and he called me to tell me he has a girlfriend. I wish I was joking, but I'm not . I'm happy he found somebody to date, but I'm sad that we'll have no more dates. I really liked spending time with him! This is like the FOURTH person that I've gone out on a date or two or hung out with several times that has then ended up in a relationship not with me. Sigh, I must be the perfect springboard for relationships or something. 

• This weekend is going to be busy. Next week is going to be busy. Being busy helps keep my mind off of sad things like Tron getting a girlfriend. :P 

• I made Pioneer Woman's Key Lime Pie for a RS Activity yesterday. It is VERY yummy. 

• My mouth hurts after getting my permanent crown a week ago. I think it's time to call to the dentist and complain. I am not looking forward to dealing with this more. I hate going to the dentist.

• I keep thinking I'm getting caught up on my sleep after Daylight Savings and then I stay up late. I'm so stupid sometimes. sigh.

• I really want to eat the peeps my mom got me for my birthday. I should have brought them to work today.

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 14th Edition

I was sitting in church on Sunday and some of my favorite teachers were teaching the classes I attended that morning. These teachers gave my soul exactly what it needed. The replenishing of my spiritual well/oil lamp was very needed and the words that were spoken touched my heart to it's very core. I had a special spiritual experience and those are always the best - especially when you're not necessarily looking for them.

I feel like I have said this a lot lately - but I really, truly am so blessed. I have had an outpouring of love and strength come to me from my Heavenly Father and Savior. I'm not sure I fully deserve all of this love, but I know that I am very grateful for it.

Thanks for sticking with me through the hard times my dear internet friends, you're the best.

good morning peeps. I am super  tired today. The time change has definitely thrown off my inner clock and I'm dying at work. I'm not sure I'm going to make it through the day, but I have so much to do so I am going to try my best to survive. I'll let you know how that goes.

Good lovely morning my dear internet friends! Hopefully is happy in whatever part of the world you are in RIGHT NOW.

it's Thursday - and you know what that means, it's time for (bum de bum!)

Hurray Thursday Things!!! So without further ado...here we go!

• I have one goal for this weekend and that is to live the quote above - enjoy the small things. I am a firm believer that small things effect our lives a lot more than the big things. I've learned this lesson the hard way so this weekend - it's all about the small things baby.

• I asked Tron to go to a ballet in Bountiful that Dr. Teeth is performing in; however, Tron is going to be out of town and can't go. :( I did however ask a guy in my ward that is totally awesome and it should be fun times!

• I don't work tomorrow and I am just SO EXCITED I just CAN'T WAIT! woo hoo! It will be a fun day filled with a temple trip with Sister B, an elementary school performance for my students, a night of RPG playing with my friends and hopefully me taking a ballet class. :o)

• I finally got myself back to the gym this week after a week and a half hiatus. That hiatus was bad news bears guys. It has been SO HARD getting myself back to the gym. I need to never not go again.

• The next two weeks are going to be SUPER busy but TONS of fun. I can't go into great detail here because some of the things happening are SURPRISES and peeps who read this blog are on the receiving end of the surprises. So....you all can just be surprised together after stuff happens! woot!

• Longer days are upon us and springy weather is coming! What is also coming is the start of Daylight Savings Time and I hate this with all my heart and I am not looking forward to losing an hour of sleep. bah humbug.

Thursday Things

Hi dear internet friends! Are you having a good week? I sure am! I love short work weeks, they make my heart oh so happy. I have wonderful things happening this weekend and I am just super excited to do all these wonderful things. Here's a few "things" to get you through the end of the week and into the weekend!

• someone (I'm not remembering who right now) shared this article with me on Why You're Not Married. I liked it. A lot. Also, I agreed with a lot of what the author had to say. Go read it. :o)

• I have a date with Tron on Saturday. I'm not sure of our plans yet, I expect to hear from him either today or tomorrow. :o)

• Don't laugh, but I'm playing a D&D-esque game with my roommate, her ex-boyfriend, The Australian and another dude starting tomorrow night. I know nothing of what I'm getting myself into, but everyone tells me I will have fun. We'll see, I guess. My character is a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Scarlett O'Hara. I'm sort of excited to see how it all works out.

• I get to go shopping with Amber this weekend. I'm rather excited to hang out with her. :o) She's awesome.

• It is supposed to snow this weekend. I'm not going to lie, I'm sort of excited about it. I haven't gotten to play in any snow this winter (timing of storms has not worked out w/me being in Utah) and last year I didn't play in the snow AT ALL because of my knee. I REALLY want to play in the snow SO BAD!

• My mouth is still sore from the dentist earlier this week. Mostly it's just my jaw that is sore from having to keep my mouth open for so many hours. I hate the dentist.

• Tomorrow is going to be full of awesome being my day off and all. I have several plans including going to the temple, eating lunch with a friend and maybe even getting a massage! :o) Yay for days off!

• I've been planning my birthday party and it is going to be AWESOME. I'll be sure to post about it after the fact.

Thoisday

Well hello Thoisday! You're my favorite, you know that right? I feel like you kind of snuck up on me and part of thinks that it is supposed to be Wednesday. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad that you are here. Means this week has flown by. Let's take a look at a few things shall we?

• I went to the dentist for the first time in several years yesterday. I really like my dentist. He's very personable and a great guy. I'm very happy going there (which is good since I don't like going to the dentist)

• I knew I had a whole in one tooth so I have to get a crown on Monday. Great way to spend a day off huh? Oh well. C'est la vie

• I have a date tomorrow with a guy from the internets (the super cute one I mentioned 2 weeks ago). I'll give him a 'nym later if I think it's going to go anywhere.

• Remember my word of the year? Yeah, I'm totally rocking it out. Love 2011.

• I know I haven't told you anything about how the Ballet West date went. I'll work on that and give it to you soon, I promise. The story is a doozy.

• I started planning my birthday party. It is going to ROCK hard core.

• I've been drinking lots of water lately. This means I go to the bathroom a lot. :o)

• I need to go to the grocery store. I don't have time to go to the grocery store. This is a problem.

• I saw Dr. Teeth last night. It was great.

• Life is good. :o)

I really like Roman Numerals. I remember learning about Roman Numerals in elementary school and I thought it to be such fun to figure out number was trying to be depicted. Anyways, the reason I mention this is because my title today is a Roman Numeral. Do you know which one?

Thursday Things

Good morning internet friends!! It is a beautiful Thursday morning over here and I am one happy little Alishka. Tomorrow is my day off and I couldn't be happier about it. I am so excited to get some things done and go on a date and all of that good stuff. :o) I've got some great things to share with you, so keep reading!

• Today is Sister B's Birthday! She is 20 years old! Wow. I can't believe she's that old. :o) I love her. She is the best little sister and does so many great things for me. Last night I took her out for a haircut and dinner at Tucanos. Basically, I'm the best sister ever.  :o)

• I'm pretty sure I haven't told you yet - but Sister B is ENGAGED!!! YAY!!! She's getting married June 16th. I am so happy for her and her fiance is a great guy. 

• I happen to be the wedding planner for Sister B's wedding. Fun times y'all, fun times. You will probably hear more about that as we go.

• When Sister B and I were at Tucanos last night there were some guys seated next to us from my ward. They're new and I don't know them all that well, but I sort of knew their names. Well one of the guys, was just the BIGGEST flirt. He was so funny and I really enjoyed flirting with him throughout dinner. It was good times.

• I need new running shoes. Hopefully that will get taken care of tomorrow.

• I'm going to Ballet West's Sleeping Beauty on Saturday. I am STOKED. 

• Roommate A and I went shopping at the mall together for the first time since living together. I bought awesome teal shoes and 2 new pairs of earrings and a jewelery stand. It was happy times.

• My date for Saturday, Church Boy, is awesome. I've picked a good guy to go to the ballet with me.

• There's a HUGE milestone coming up on this here blog - I'm trying to decide what to do for it.

• My birthday is 3.5 weeks. I am very excited for my birthday party. It is going to be AWESOME.

• I am HAPPY. Seriously. Life is good and I am one happy little girl. 

I am ready for my awesome weekend. It is going to be very awesome. This weekend is forecasted to be the warmest weekend yet to date and I am very much looking forward to some sunshine and happiness. :o) Have a great day peeps!

Tired Thursday Things

• I am oh so very tired. I forget how much putting together a show can take it out of me. I am starting to get sick and my sinuses are attacking me. Stupid sinuses.
• I washed my bedding yesterday and it finished in the dryer right before bedtime. Therefore, I had a nice warm and toasty bed when I went to sleep. This was AWESOME. I wish I could find the energy to do that more often, but I hate making my bed after washing all of my sheets and stuff.
• I must admit that I've been on a dating website the past couple of weeks and I've been talking to a few guys from said website. I am meeting one of the guys tomorrow. We became facebook friends the other day and this guy is NOT attractive. :( Hopefully the date goes in such a way that I can put him off without being too mean.
• Another guy from said dating website has been emailing me and he sent me some pictures. He is super cute. We'll see where that goes.
• I have season tickets to Ballet West and the next ballet is next Saturday, February 12. They are performing Sleeping Beauty. I am so thrilled to go see this. I'm calling Sweetums tomorrow to ask him to come with me. I haven't seen him in a month and haven't really talked to him in several weeks. It makes me sad. Here's hoping he doesn't already have plans for next weekend.
• I made a dentist appointment yesterday. I hate the dentist. However, I think I have picked a really good one. We'll see after the appointment in a couple of weeks.
• I won my work's wellness program for January. I won a one-hour massage. I am going to use it after I go to the dentist.
• I have fun plans for my sister's birthday next week and I'm really excited to celebrate with her.
• Also, I am really excited to not have to worry about cleaning choreography for a month or so. We'll start to learn June's choreography in March, but until then it will just be class and training. Good times.

I think that's everything that I have thought about in the past few days. It's probably not and I'm really tired so I don't really feel like my brain is functioning at full capacity these days. Have a good Thursday y'all.

Bravery

Sometimes I pretend to be brave and sometimes I am ACTUALLY brave.

Saturday I pretended to be brave, but yesterday - yesterday I was actually brave.

Yesterday after my church meetings and after choir I introduced myself to a new guy in the ward. I talked to him for a long time and I feel like we clicked just a little bit. I felt so good about myself for getting my flirt on and what not. GO ME!

Also, I was brave yesterday because I initiated an online conversation with SwingKid. This is the first time that we've had a real-time conversation in eight weeks and it was good. I held my breath a couple of times, but overall it was good.

I am excited for today - if only because the countdown to the show begins. :o) The next 10 days are going to be busy. I have a laundry date with my sister, a temple trip to make, friends to see, dentist appointments to make,  a couple hours of rehearsal (we still have to finish our piece! EEK!), a Winter-een-mas party, a Saturday FULL of rehearsals and then a show to present. It is going to be a full week and I am excited for it.

don't mind me...

I'm just trying to get through the work day! I am SO SO SO excited about my weekend plans! They all start at about 6 pm tonight...and the fun will just continue on through most of Saturday. :o)

anywho...It's thursday! So that means....

1. It is my 3-day weekend. This makes my heart super happy. I have a bazillion things going on and that also makes me happy.
2. Today I get to go to my BEST friend's wedding. Also on the docket for today is rehearsal (2.5 weeks to show guys! EEK!) and Blue Tango dancing. 
3. Tomorrow has many things going on including going to the Temple with sister B, taking a ballet class, cleaning my house, and going on a blind date.
4. I haven't been on a blind date since CPM. I'm a little nervous.
5. Pair my busy schedule with Sweetums' busy schedule and you get chaos. We've talked and tried to get together this week to no avail. Makes me sad. Hopefully next week will treat us both a little bit better.
6. I haven't logged into Facebook while at work since January 1. I am awesome. It has been hard, but SO GOOD for me.
7. My CTR ring is not fitting my finger very well right now. It's a little on the big side. I think my fingers have lost weight.
8. Is that possible? do fingers lose weight?
9. The receptionist came back EARLY! I thought she was going to be gone until MONDAY.  Thank goodness. I hate covering for her.
10. Finally, I'm still thinking about birthday party ideas. Right now I am leaning towards a Super Hero birthday party. What do you think?

Wow. My brain has a lot of thoughts right now! The funny thing is, that's only like...a small portion of them! :o) Anyways. I hope you all have a splendid Thursday, a wonderful weekend, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on how everything pans out! Happy Day!

• my running program is treating me so well. I need something similar for weight lifting. After this program ends, (and I start it again at a faster speed to reduce my 5k time) i hope to add strength training to my workout so I can trim down some fat.

• I really want to dance again. another director and i are hoping to do a "directors" piece this year in the gala. we'll see how that goes down.

• tonight is my work Christmas party. It should be fun....although they are serving fish and I hate fish. so that sucks. but the party itself should be fun. :o)

• i'm going dancing tonight. hurrah! i haven't been to Blue Tango in several weeks and I am much looking forward to tonight's dance.

• I don't work tomorrow, but I don't feel like I have the day off. See...tomorrow my cute company girls are presenting "Clara's Nutcracker" along with a bunch of jazz Christmas pieces at 4 different elementary schools. It should be fun.

• Three weeks from yesterday I fly to VA. 20 days. CRAZY!!

• I bought SwingKid's present today. I think he'll like it. I sure hope he will.

• My parent's gift is going to ROCK! I got some amazing news about it yesterday but seeing as how they both read this we'll keep it a secret. If I remember, I'll tell you about it after Christmas.

• I decorated for Christmas and my house looks SO CUTE. I love Christmas decorations

• Have I mentioned how GOOD  I feel lately? I attribute it to my running program. It is doing amazing things for me and I am SO SO SO happy I decided to do this couch to 5k program. :o)
