Final January Friday

Hard to believe that January is over. Crazy, crazy, crazy i say.

1. I'd really like to be at home in my bed right now.

2. Owww!!!! is the word you'd most often hear me say if I stubbed my toe.

3. Possession is a nice thing to have.  (okay, this one was lame. really...what to put here?)

4. I enjoy watching Captain Jack Sparrow. He's spunky.

5. Marshmallows and fire go together like peanut butter and jelly. Truly, you can't have the campfire without the marshmallows. It would be a sin.

6. I could go on and on about how i haven't gotten much sleep lately, but I won't because it's all been for a great reason. ;)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to working on a presentation while watching a movie with SwingKid, tomorrow my plans include tacos and ice skating with SwingKid, Roommate A and her Fiance and Sunday, I want to have cinnamon rolls with friends and lovers!

Terrific Tuesday!

I've decided that I like Tuesdays...and Thursdays for that matter. But I digress...Tuesdays!!!

Today, Tib posted this letter post thingy where you get a letter assigned to you and then you're supposed to list 10 things that you love that begin with that letter.

Well, I wanted to play so I asked my dearest Tib for a letter. She gave me the letter "T."

So here are my Ten Things That begin with The letter T That i love:

1.   Threadless T-shirts.  Seriously, they are awesome to a T! he he he

2.  the Tango. One of my favorite ballroom dances of all time.

3. "Time to Say Goodbye" - This is a fantastic song. I love the Sara Brightman and Andrea Bocelli version.

4. Tomatoes.  SwingKid doesn't like Tomatoes, but I do. I think they're great. Now the question is ... fruit or vegetable?

5. Tangerines. Yummy citrus goodness that fits in the palm of your hand. Sweet. Literally.

6. Tapioca pudding. oh my gosh. I love, LOVE, LOVE tapioca pudding. Truly one of my favorite desserts.

7.  Being Tan. However, trying to be tan doesn't always work out for me. But I do my best.

8.  Twitter. It's fun. and festive. even though i'm not good at updating it...

9.  Totino's Pizza. Cheap pizza that I can eat whenever I want. Except right now because I'm trying to lose weight.

10. Tropical vacations. Even though I've never really been to a tropical location, I think a tropical vacation is definitely something I can love. For shizzle!

That was great fun and an awesome letter to boot! Thanks Tib! Anyone want to play? shoot me a comment and i'll send you a letter!!!

GAH!!!!

I love my job. Really, I work with awesome people in a beautiful building.

Sometimes, however, it seems that all I do is deal with copy machines in the work room. So, I find these two comics describe my life pretty well as of late. enjoy them. i know i did.

7 things

well, little Giovanni Schwartz tagged me in this 7 random things about me. I feel like I've done things like this many, many times before and that you already know everything about me.

However, I will do my best to give you 7 random things about me

1) My biggest pet peeve when teaching ballet students is when they don't give themselves or the teacher/director the proper respect. I got really mad at the students on Saturday because they were talking during class and rehearsal. It's seriously my biggest pet peeve.

2) I know I've mentioned this before, but I'll mention it again: I want to be on America's Next Top Model just because I love photo shoots and getting my picture taken.

3) People ask me what I'm doing after graduation, and while I don't know completely I do have somewhat of a plan and I'm not really that nervous about it.

4) I really don't like spaghetti.

5) I've lost weight...at least that's what SwingKid has been telling me for the past week...

6) I'm nervous about keeping off the weight I'm currently losing. I need a long-term plan for my short-term goal.

7) I have an awesome relationship with my parents.

And as far as tagging goes...if you have never commented on my blog (aka you're a lurker...) - I want you! to consider yourself tagged...and let me know that you've done it!

Happy Monday!

wishing you were somehow here again....

oh three-day weekend. why doest thou not come every weekend? I wish you were here. i don't want to be on campus today. please come back, that would make me very happy. :-)

cake

i have a weakness. this weakness is called  cake.  I love cake. Especially yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles on top.

Normally, avoiding this temptation is easy except for when it's my birthday...but Macey's had cake mixes and frosting on sale

Like, a really, REALLY good sale.

So what did I do? I bought one. one Yellow cake mix with chocolate frosting and funfetti sprinkles. yummers.

I made this cake today. It's been frosted for 2 hours now and I've already has 2.5 pieces of cake.

And i'm trying to lose a pant size. gah....i should just feed the cake to someone else.

How I love thee cake.....

4. It's raining in Januray; are you kidding me???

5. Right now I'd like to be on a beach in the sun.

6. My mp3 player is my favorite gadget.

But still, I love technology...

So...I never mentioned it, BUT SwingKid got me a second Christmas present that I got when I got back from Virginia. Well, lo and behold he got me a ..... webcam! He's been telling me that I need to get one since we found out my family was leaving clear back in August!

Well, last night he was unable to come to my apartment to visit me (his schedule, my schedule, cleaning checks...there were many issues in the way...) SO we decided to test out my new webcam. Let me just say...webcams rock!!!

Not only did I talk to SwingKid (as I would have regardless) but I got to see him as well all while sitting in my bedroom! It was great!

Hopefully tonight I will get to talk to my family on the webcam I sent them for their Christmas gift. :-)

Life is great, SwingKid is awesome, and I love technology.
*cue Napolean Dynamtie*

"Why do you love me? Why do you need me? Always and forever... We met in a chat room, now our love can fully bloom... Sure the world wide web is great, but you, you make me salivate... Yes, I love technology, but not as much as you, you see... But still, I love technology... Always and forever. Our love is like a flock of doves, flying up to heaven above... always and forever, always and forever... Why do you need me? Why do you love me? Always and forever..." Wikipedia

R.I.P.

Let us all take a quick moment before I tell this story and really mourn the loss of Bob the Fish.

Okay, now that that's over. Let me tell you the story of how Bob the Fish died.

I realized the night before I left to go to Virginia that I had made no arrangements for my little pet fish.  So as SwingKid and I said good night that night, I asked him if he would take care of my little fish while I was gone. I mean, it isn't hard or anything. Just change the water every 5 days or so and feed it a little bit of food a couple of times a day and he'll be happy as a clam.

Well....the Monday before I came home SwingKid and I were talking on the phone and he told me that he thought Bob wasn't doing so hot. He said he looked very pale and seemed sort of miserable. We discussed killing it, but neither of us had the guts to just flush it down the toilet or anything like that. SwingKid mentioned he would try to put it by more sunlight to see if that would help him. (I was doubtful of that, my apartment gets likes NO sunlight in the kitchen where Bob the Fish would reside, and he'd been just fine for months.)

Fast forward two days. New Year's Eve. SwingKid picks me up from the airport and we go to the awesome mocktail party at his place. As everyone is cleaning up said mocktail party (i was sleeping on the couch. ;) ) I hear SwingKid open the back door and then gasp. As he comes back from the very cold outdoors, he's holding the fish bowl of Bob the Fish. The entire thing is one solid block of ice and at the very bottom of the bowl is a frozen Bob. :o( See, SwingKid put Bob the Fish outside to get some sunlight, but forgot about him. oops. So, Bob the Fish froze.

In an effort to see if Bob the Fish was not really dead, we left him to defrost slowly on the stove all night and in the morning we checked him out. Hoping for something akin to the Mammoth, we took a look at the fish. He was definitely still dead. Poor Bob the Fish.

And that, my friends, is how Bob the Fish died. I'm not that sad about to be honest. He was getting really sick (I had noticed the paleness before I left) and really, I hadn't been caring for him that well. I'm sort of, kind of glad to not have to worry about it. AND I didn't have to flush him down the toilet. ;)

A goal accompanied with a question

So...I had this crazy idea a few months ago. See...I'm graduating from college (which is a huge accomplishment or something) and I want to look really good at graduation. So...I've decided to lose a pant size between now and April. Not too hard right? I mean, that's only approximately 10 lbs and I have about 3.5 months to do it!

So here's my problem. I want a really cute dress. Like, the best dress ever made. However, I don't want a formal or anything because it is only graduation and I only own like 3 dresses. I own skirts galore, but dresses are another issue. So the problem lies in trying to actually find  a cute dress that I can set my sights on buying. I'm willing to spend a little bit of money on it, but not an extra-ordinary amount. So my blogging friends. Any suggestions on where to find a really cute dress for graduation in April??

CES goodness

So tonight SwingKid and I along with Chilly and her friend Big T went to the CES fireside. By the good graces of a great friend, we got to sit on the front row (we might have been on tv? who knows...) and listen to our prophet. He had great words of wisdom concerning preparation. I really enjoyed listening to his counsel. He's an amazing man.  After the fireside we all came to my festive apartment and made chocolate chip cookies. They were pretty darn amazing, if I do say so myself. It was great fun! Tomorrow is looking like loads of fun as well since I get to write a project proposal for dance history, do at least one load of laundry (hopefully more?) AND go to Walmart. wahoo! So there you go. have a lovely week y'all!

resurrection

my best friend/mechanic buddy called today. he fixed my car. it works again! what happened is the mechanic who was working on it didn't get the water pump (the brand new one) all connected right, so then the alternator belt didn't work and then no fluids were going anywhere, and my car died. BUT now everything it tightened back up and it works again!! wahoo!! AND he has to come get another car in Orem this afternoon so he's bringing my car TO ME! i don't have to go to his place to get it. I could have, but i don't have to!! oh life is happy.

also, i plan on telling you how bob the fish died. i just haven't typed up the story yet. look for it tomorrow or sunday. it should be up then. in the mean-time, know that my life just got WAY happier and i have an amazing boyfriend who's taking me on a fun date tonight. wahoo! enjoy your weekend y'all.

last first day of school and then some

so i have a new year's resolution to not waste time on the internet. so far, it's working, but it means that my blogging has suffered a tad. I think we're going to have to make an exception to blogging.

however, i have been psycho busy at work and school and things trying to get everything running smoothly. i went to my last first day of school on monday. that was pretty awesome sauce. today i finally got senor guapo. after giving up an arm, a leg, and the promise of my first born child i was able to ride into the sunset with senor guapo.

in other news, the snow in utah seems to keep coming and won't stop. i am not a happy camper when it comes to said snow.

also. SwingKid rocks. that is all. g'night.

reason #562

So...in answer to the commenters' question: SwingKid knows of my blog, but doesn't keep on it. He did mention the other day that he thought he should, BUT...he doesn't. he he he. However, I wouldn't post anything that I wouldn't tell him anyways...

So Reason #562 and how SwingKid gets brownie points:

I get home from VA, leap into the arms of my awesome boyfriend, and he tells me of our plans for New Year's Day. See, he got the day off (unusual) and promised to spend the day with me and take me to see the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time, and was so excited that he planned to take me to it. So cute.

THEN today, he totally just stopped by after work to see me. Love it!!! :-)

New Year's Eve part dos

So, after all of my plane switching adventures, I landed in SLC at 7:30p, picked up my luggage and went outside to meet the love of my life. SwingKid was waiting for me and having him greet me and kiss me hello was the best thing ever.

We drove down to his fun little apartment for a mocktail party. I just sat and enjoyed his presence. sigh. he's the best.

The mocktail party was awesome! I tried  a "Safe Sex on the Beach" and "Lime Cola." Pretty much awesome little mocktails. As the night went on there was some dancing, laughter, and watching the ball drop at midnight. I got my new years kiss, which was awesome. Not that we needed an excuse to kiss, but it was great!!

The party came to  a close about 2 am and while everyone was cleaning up, I was falling asleep on SwingKid's couch. See...at this point I had been up for about 22 hours. I was SO tired. However, SwingKid was a sweetheart and falling asleep on his couch while people cleaned was okay by him.

I finally went to bed about 2:30 in the morning and slept in until 9ish or so. So there you go folks...that was the rest of my New Year's Eve...keep staying tuned for SwingKid's earning of brownie points and how Bob the Fish died.

promises....

okay, I promised the story of my new year's eve adventures, and we'll start with my airplane adventures since that's where the day began.

So...I was due to fly out of Dulles International Airport at 1:00pm landing in JFK at 2:30 pm and then leaving JFK at 3:30pm to land in SLC at 7:03pm.

However, the wind on the 31st of December in Dulles was pretty harsh. At some parts of the day it got up to 50 mph!! Well...I'm sitting in the airport at 12:30 and our plane starts to get boarded. I'm not special enough to go first, but those 1st class peeps start to get on the plane and they don't get 10 ft down the walkway when the captain stops them and says the wind is too harsh and they're going to have to delay. I started to hear rumors of a 2-hour delay, but they would check conditions in one. YIKES! I was paranoid before about missing my connecting flight, but now there was NO way I would make it. Within 1 minute of the notice of being delayed the flight attendants called me up to the desk and told me they were putting me on the direct flight Dulles-SLC that left at 4:24 pm. This was fantastic news, besides the point that I had to now sit in the airport for four hours. :P

Now we interject to tell you why i think this story is amazing. See, two days prior I had had awful nightmares about missing my connector flight and dealing with the layover. See, this was only my second flight, my first being TO virginia. I woke up in a panic and had been praying for days that everything would work out and I wouldn't miss my connecting flight. But what does Heavenly Father do instead? He puts me on a direct flight! He delays my flight enough that they decide to switch me over.

And this is where things really are amazing. Because with in 20 minutes of the attendant switching my flight, they called boarding for Dulles-JFK. How crazy is that? I would probably not have made my connecting flight if they had waited, but because the attendants are so good to get people to places they made sure to get me on my way the best way possible. And I was blessed to have a delay in my flight so that I would get on the direct flight, which was the best way to fly. :-)

Stay tuned for how the rest of my New Year's Eve panned out, more brownie points for SwingKid, and also how Bob the Fish died on the last day of 2008.

First Friday

1. The world is white and cold with snow: the one downside to being back in Utah.

2. "G'night babe" was the last thing I said.

3. I wonder where things will go in my life.

4. I am praying for happiness at the end of all things.

5. There's something to be said for being in love.

6. Somewhere warm is where I want to be.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Wii bowling date! and getting Senor Guapo back!, tomorrow my plans include something fun with SwingKid, and Sunday, I want to see old friends again!

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to 2009!! It's hard to believe that 2009 is upon us. Crazy, really.

It's not too late, but after my super late night last night and everything I've done today I'm super tired and my bed looks so inviting. I have quite the story of my adventures from yesterday...but that will have to come later. So for now, know that I am back in Cougartown, safe and sound. I saw SwingKid and he makes me so happy.

G'night y'all!
