It was just like that - POOF! Suddenly, summer was gone and all the was left in it's wake was a horrible tan line that never went away and the wishes of more sunshine. This weekend was filled with loads of cold temperatures, cloudy skies, rainy (and a little snow!) days and lots of indoor adventures.
I'm sorry I sort of disappeared the end of last week. Thursday was just insanely busy and I never got around to posting and then I had Friday off, which ended up being so very busy and Saturday was much the same. I did finally choose and begin the contemporary piece for BU2 (thank goodness!) and now I get to start the process of finding music for my ballet class in Spanish Fork. I start that class in one week and I want to start choreography (or at least learn some sections of the choreography and teach them so the students aren't shocked by said choreography) in a month...and then I'll actually teach the dance w/formations to them in the beginning of the year. We are to do a dance on discouragement. Any music ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated.
I finally got my new computer at work. It is sooooo pretty. I have a HUGE monitor that I love, Windows 7 operating system that I'm still getting used to and Microsoft Office 10 that is making me think very hard. ;)
In other news I need to ask a boy to go see Ballet West's Dracula with me in less than 2 weeks. I have been thinking about asking Blindman2 OR I might ask this one guy in my ward. sigh. I just don't know who to take.
In other news, life is busy. Actually, that's not really news, especially if you know me in real life. I'm just always doing things. This week is no exception.
Anywho, this is a very boring, mundane post. I'll try to be funnier in the future, but I make no promises. ;)

just another....
MANIC MONDAY!!!
Seriously, it is crazy around here peeps. Work has just been one thing after another all day long. sigh. At least I can rest easy knowing that there are just two hours until my evening.
I have so much to blog about...I think we're going to need bullet points.....

I have so much to blog about...I think we're going to need bullet points.....
- game night last night? EPIC. Seriously. At one point it was down to four of us and we played Go Fish! when is the last time YOU played Go Fish? (granted, this was a child version of go fish...with pictures of fishes and what not. not the real life GROWN UP version. WHO KNEW there was grown up version of Go Fish?!!) For me...it had been quite sometime. We had to read the rules. Also, we were hilarious playing this game. It was honestly one of my favorite moments of game nights so far.
- Surfer Boy....is my friend. And for now, i'm okay with that. At some point we might be more...but for now we are friends. Which is good. I want to marry my best friend. :o)
- I learned some interesting things about some back story on Blindman2 (remember him?). It makes me want to continue giving him a chance. I think I'll be seeing him in a couple of weeks with our mutual friends. We'll see what goes down at that point.
- I get to go to Tuachan this weekend! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I can deal with ANYTHING at work this week if only because I'll be "out of town" for a mere 24 hours. :o)
- We've started having "ward prayer" again on Sunday evenings. I just LOVE going to this. There have been times in my life where I have despised ward prayer and have refused to go. Not anymore!
- TV Fall Season Premieres are upon us!!! I'm rather excited for my two favorite shows: Castle and The Big Bang Theory. YAY for fun things again!!!!
- I think I mentioned this the other day...but i'm totally doing my challenge for another week. It rocked my world last week, I'm going to make it rock again this week. :o)
- I'm going to go see 17 Miracles tonight. Don't be surprised if it shows up in my tender mercy post tomorrow. I have a feeling it could....
- I was visiting teaching this weekend and I read this quote in the message. It's how I'm going to live my life: “We prepare each day, right now, for eternal life. If we are not preparing for eternal life, we are preparing for something less, perhaps something far less.” - Elder M. Russell Ballard

Good Morning!
Good morning everyone!!! Even though I am saddened at the thought of a 9-hour work day, at my desk, inside....I had such a GREAT weekend, that I'm happy. Also, I've decided that I'm going to work on one of my Day Zero goals this week: Don't complain about anything for a week. I'm a pretty optimistic person, but there are times when I complain about EVERYTHING! So...this week I'm going to consciously make an effort to not complain about work, my love life, or the weather. I think I can handle that. I am allowed to voice my complaints on how sore I am after working out. ;) But basically I want to not be a sour puss, or a pessimistic person this week. I think it will be a good exercise for me. :o)
In other news, I have a new crush at church. His 'nym: Surfer Boy. :o) We went to a concert in the park randomly Saturday evening and then back to his ADORABLE house (that he owns!) to watch a surfing movie. He also came over to game night last night. Some of you might be wondering about other men in my life. They've pretty much all fallen off the face of the earth - although BM2 might resurface and Grizzly Bear is....confusing. It's okay though! I'm having the time of my life and it's great fun. :o)
Today is Day 15 of the 21 Day Challenge. I am going to be sad to see this challenge end. It has been such great fun to use style prompts to get ready in the morning. It has definitely helped me to add variety and newness to my wardrobe. Today's challenge was to do something new with your hair. I LOVE experimenting with my hair. I was using Pinterest one day and I discovered this blog with lots of cute hair ideas. I couldn't watch her tutorial for the hair do I went with and I wasn't wanting to pay for it...so I just looked at the picture and did my best to recreate it. I like how it turned out. :o) A great way to hide very dirty hair that I didn't feel like washing this morning....shhhh...don't tell anyone. The result!
And for your viewing pleasure, the outfit I wore with this hair do:
For cute, right?! :o) I am a huge fan of JC Penny's these days. It's one of my favorite places to shop - but not for dresses. I want a cute new dress, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. It might just have to wait until Christmas though. sigh. C'est la vie.
Well....that's all from me dear friends. I hope you have the best Monday in the world. and just as a reminder...there are only 5 days until BYU Football kicks off their first season as an independent! I am SO EXCITED!!!!!! Have a great day y'all!

disappearing act
so remember how I was SO excited about my date with BM2? Well he called me yesterday on my lunch break to cancel. Basically he told me he wasn't in a place to date right now, he doesn't want to lead me on so we're not going out this weekend or anytime in the very near future. We're going to stay friends because he thinks I'm awesome and stuff. Plus he said he wants to be ready to date soon and when he is we might try things out then. So for now...we're friends and we'll hang out in the future and stuff. (and before you freak out and say, "Why Alishka, why?" or "He's just stupid." He had very good, personal reasons that he shared with me that I'm not gong to share with you. so there.)
while I was initially very much saddened by this turn of events, I think it's going to be good. I told my mom and one of the first things she said to me was the following: "With as many guys as let you go suddenly, Heavenly Father must have someone very special for you that isn't quite ready."
I tend to agree with my mommy. She's usually right. ;) Also, my life has kind of been a crazy roller coaster lately. I've come >this< close to having an emotional break-down for the stupidest reasons, but then again, that's how I roll. See I let the smallest things - the tiniest thorns inbed themselves inside of me and then they fester, because they're small and practically non-existent, I ignore them. Before long there is a huge collection of thorns inside of me and then the stupidest thing will push me over and I'll just break. I was sort of there at the beginning of this week. I need to be better about not letting things fester, and it's a goal of mine to do this.
Anyways, the point of me telling you all of this is I'm not going to worry about dating for a while. In fact, I'm kind of going to just step away. I'm going to continue my friendships with people I know and I plan on doing fun things all the time. However, I need to find my balance again. The musical has definitely thrown off my balance and with the ballet school year in full swing I need to figure out how life is going to go. I have major responsibilitiesat church and work and I need o put some focus on those things and make sure I'm not letting any balls drop. This does not mean that I'm just going to stop dating - if a boy asks me out I'll say yes. I'm just not going to worry about it at all. Nor am I going to renew my subscription on the dating site I've been using.
I think that's all I want to say about the subject for now. :o) Have a great day y'all!

a sleepy Thursday
Dearest internet friends, I am so excited that it is Thursday! Let's do this thing and get through my muddled thoughts shall we?
- First off, I was a stupid girl last night and started a new book - Unsticky by Sarra Manning. You know it's a good book when you stay up reading for 2.5 hours and get half way through. I'm dying right now because 1) I'm sleep deprived and 2) the book is at home and I'm at work. TORTURE!
- We only have TWO more performances of AIDA. I'm going to be sad to see the show end, but at the same time I'll be glad to have some sense of normalcy in my life. If normal is even possible. :o)
- Speaking of AIDA, we had a SOLD OUT audience at BYU last night. It was INCREDIBLE. They were an amazing audience that laughed, clapped, cheered, etc. It was so great.
- I am totally rocking the 21 Day Challenge. Day 4's challenge is Color Blocking. I realized while putting this outfit together that my only really colorful, solid colored bottoms (skirts, pants, short, etc) are skirts. I don't really have brightly colored bottoms - mostly neutrals. So, even though I've worn a skirt the past two days, making today day three (I promise I do wear pants!) I chose the following outfit:
The colors are a lot brighter than this picture shows. I couldn't get a good picture no matter how I tried, and seeing as how I got ready for work in like ten minutes this morning, I just didn't have time to try to get a better picture. oh well. The skirt is a bright pink and the top a bright spring green. The top was only $5 at the Modbe outlet center in Springville. Love that place. All in all, I'm counting today as a success!
{skirt: thrifted, jacket/shirt: modbe outlet tank: downeast}
- I've had two of my guy friends in the past 24 hours tell me that I look really good these days and that they both think I've lost weight. I think they're smoking something because I actually feel the grossest I've felt since my sister's wedding....but still, it is nice to get complimented.
- This weekend is turning out to be quite busy. After closing night on Friday there's a combined ward campout with the neighboring ward in our stake. I'm not sure I'm going to go over to it at all....but I might. I also plan on being girly this weekend and treating myself to a mani/pedi because man alive do I need one!!
- Also this weekend, I have a third date with Blindman2. I think he needs a new name....I'll think of something one of these days. We're actually going out on our own, without our mutual friends of Truit and Truit's husband. While I love Truit and her husband, I'm excited for it to just be me and BM2 (maybe I'll just abbreviate it?) so we can better get to know each other and see how things flow. Also... this date got set up a month ago because our schedules just weren't gellin'. The anticipation for this date has been killing me.
- Percy and I continue to have a conflict of schedules...I think we're going to shoot for sometime next week.
- I have such great guy friends! The Australian came last night with his sister and friend from Japan to my musical. It was SO GOOD to see him, since I haven't seen him since rehearsals started with the musical two months ago. Basically, I love The Australian and seeing him made me happy.
- What else do I need to tell you.....oh! Ballet classes start today. I have a sub for my class tonight because of AIDA at BYU. I'm sort of sad that I have to have a sub for my first company class....but oh well. It will be all good later.
- Also, just because I feel like you need to know: Peanut Butter M&Ms combined with Dark Chocolate M&Ms is the BEST combination in the whole wide world!! If you know what's good for you, you'll trust me when I tell you to go by a bag of each and put them together in your mouth. You can thank me later.
- I want cupcakes SOOOO bad right now. I have a Groupon for the Sweet Tooth Fairy and I think I might need to cash that in this weekend. :o)

Friday Things
Well guys, yesterday was a CRAZY day and I never got around to my normal Thursday Things post. So here is a Friday things instead! :o)
- I was late to work today. Totally slept through my one and only alarm that was in my room - left my phone in my car. Smart, Alishka, very smart. :P Luckily everyone was understanding. I've NEVER been late to work before (in my 2 years here!).
- Needless to say it has been a very adrenaline filled morning. :o)
- I totally got ready for work in 10 minutes. I am awesome.
- The show is in less than two weeks. Insanity. I still can't believe I'm in the cast of AIDA. I keep pinching myself to make sure this is real!
- I have been feeling...."meh" about going out with Percy again. He is obviously a very slow mover and what not and I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever step things up. I'm not going out with him this weekend...and I'm okay with that.
- We (Percy and I) are going to lunch on Monday. His idea - which is a good sign right? sigh.
- Talked to Blindman2. Unfortunately my only available day for a date is his only unavailable day. :( And he has finals coming up and then I have the show...and pretty much we won't really be able to go out until after the show in August. :(
- HOWEVER, I did tell him he should come to the musical w/Truit and husband and we could go do something together afterwards. That will probably happen.
- Truit's husband also suggested we do another game night on a Sunday evening. That will probably also happen. I am okay with these things. Blindman2 is a cutie.
- I needed a date for Saturday night - and seeing as how I didn't want to take Grizzly Bear or Percy and Blindman2 was busy I decided to ask someone new out! He's in my ward and we worked together at church last summer. He was very nice on the phone and seemed more than willing and dare I say excited to go out with me on Saturday night!
- Yay for dates with boys!
- My hair and I are not friends right now, but unfortunately with my schedule I can't get it done until after AIDA is over...one month from now.
- Speaking of hair, I think I want to change it up - but seeing as how I'm still growing it out, I'm not sure what I want to do. :( Maybe a color change? I don't know.....I like the red!
- I'm thinking I need cupcakes this weekend. hmmm....
- I'm getting a new calling in church on Sunday. I'm very excited and nervous about it. I'll share the details with you later! :o)

and then comes a flying wrench
You know how things are going well, or at least semi-well and you think you have life figured out and then WHAM! out of nowhere a wrench flies in to mess with your head, plans and life.
A flying wrench came yesterday by the name of Blindman2. You might remember him from WAY BACK when we went on a first date set up by Truit and her hubby.
Well, last night Truit and her hubby hosted a fondue dinner night. It was me, a mutual girlfriend of Truit and me and then Blindman2. Blindman2 had a really good excuse for not calling me...but there's still the fact that he didn't call me (that I'm not going to go into because it's long. it's valid though. completely valid). Anyways, we had a wonderful evening. he and I ended up next to each other all night. We ate good food, played Risk and 5 Crowns. We played footsies under the table - very flirty like and he kept my toes warm. We touched elbows, caught each other's eye and flirted verbally all night long. He walked me to my car at the end of the night and gave me a hug and promised to call this time. We'll see if he follows through or not.
Here's the thing - he's cuter than Percy when it comes to looks. He's taller, and nerdier. He's way more my "type" and fun to be with. Percy is fun too...don't get me wrong, but the only reason I find him attractive is becasue of his personality and how well we get a long. If I was looking at a book of pictures of Percy and Blindman2 I would definitely linger more on Blindman2 than I would Percy. sigh.
so what's a girl to do when she has a group date this weekend and has tentative plans with Grizzly Bear that she doesn't want to happen? When said girl would love to see Percy again but would also really like to see the possibilities with Blindman2 but he's GOT to make the next move.
gah. Stupid flying wrench.

Dating Battle Stories: Marathon of Dates Part Two
see part one here
Date #4 - April 16th
My best friend Truit married this great guy. I am really good friends with this couple and I love doing things with them. We have dinner on some Sundays, they went to the temple with me, basically these guys are awesome-sauce. Anyways, about two-ish weeks ago I was hanging out with them and Truit's husband mentions how he has single friends - specifically his classmate that he studies with all the time. I ask him why he hasn't set me up yet and he promises to get right on that. last week he calls me and we set up the date. Let's call my date Blindman2 (original right? ha ha).
So, I met Blindman2 at Truit's apartment and all four of us went off to Macaroni Grill. I got the same dish as the last time I was there and it didn't disappoint. :o) conversation flowed nicely at dinner and Blindman2 was nice. He's definitely a nerd - but a nice one so it's okay. After dinner we opted to go back to the Truit's apartment and played a few games while chatting. It was fun and Blindman2 was great company. At the end of the date he got my number, which I take as a good sign. He hasn't used my number since, but it has been finals time so I'm not too worried. We'll see what happens. I'm open to having a second date, but who knows.
In the Works:
Tonight I have a date #2 with Fryman and then tomorrow I have date #3 with the Argonaut. Also, remember this post where I mentioned this boy? Well, I finally got BRAVE and sent him an email via Facebook (gotta love Facebook - plus we were friends b/c of the concert) basically asking him to go out to dinner with me. Well...he replied and said.... YES! So, I'm not sure when yet, but we're going to get together and get to know each other better. I'm all sorts of excited about it.
Also, I asked the Australian to go on a real date with me, and he told me he likes me and loves hanging out with me, but he's not in a place to really date me for reals right now. So...we're going to stay friends. I'm okay with this. I'm glad I took the risk to ask him and luckily for me it hasn't changed my friend with benefits (sort of) status that we have. Ha.
Anyways, life is peachy, work is nuts, my sister is getting married in less than 2 months and I am very ready for Spring to be here.
