Thursdays Things

Hello dearest friends! It's Thursday - aka Fake Friday!!! I'm such fan! Tomorrow is looking to be a really good day and I'm excited for the next little bit. we go!

  • I'm going dancing tonight after rehearsal. Yes, I know this is crazy - but I can't go the next 3 Thursdays after that because of our show! (well...I might just be VERY late....but I probably won't go.)
  • I have a costume fitting today for AIDA. I'm SO EXCITED. :o) It will be fun times.
  • Do you have your tickets to come and see me yet? You should get on that. You don't want to miss this show!
  • If you do have your tickets - be sure to tell me when you're coming! and come say hi after the show! I love talking to the audience!
  • I'm getting excited to teach again this fall. I always get burnt out by June...but then the end of August rolls around and I realize how much I miss my students. I'm excited to help them grow more!
  • I'm getting a massage tomorrow! I am VERY stoked about this. An hour of relaxation and someone else getting all my knots out? Yes please.
  • I also have a chiropractor appointment tomorrow. That should be fun times.
  • My schedule changed slightly on Saturday - I'll be able to run some errands now that I didn't think would get done before. Huzzah!
  • Some crazy drama went down in the past few days with Percy. It's not something I really want to go into great detail here - but I will say that it was all because of this very blog. Someone close to him shared things that I wrote here - that weren't complete thoughts. I do write anonymously (even if some of you know me in real life) and my thoughts aren't intended for open interpretation as a sure thing of my feelings. I write many things in the moment and it greatly depends on my mood on how my thoughts get worded.   The whole situation has made me a little frustrated, especially since I wasn't ready to share some of those things with him yet - and I would have in good time. I'm not some crazy chick that plays games with boys. I'm just not that girl. ANYWAYS. I'm not sure what's going to happen now. I think the door might have closed with Percy and I just hate that it happened the way it did.
  • I'm supposed to be getting my hairs did next week - I made the appointment 7 weeks ago....but that was before I was in AIDA. Now...I have dress rehearsal at the same time as my appointment. I rescheduled and I'll now get my hair done on August 24. Why am I telling you all of this? Because I want to change my hair without...changing it too much. So, I need your suggestions. Is it time for a new color? (I've been red with lots of blonde highlights for the past year or so) Should I get rid of the fringey bangs? I don't plan on cutting it length-wise...yet. I want to keep my hair long for a bit longer. so yeah...any suggestions on what I should do with my hair will be taken into great consideration. :o)
Have a GREAT Thursday guys and if I don't make it back here in the next day or two - have a great weekend as well! you all rock!!!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 31st Edition

Friends, I am so very blessed. Truly, very blessed. I love being able to take time each Tuesday to reflect on my life and all the small blessings that I have been given each day. I've had many blessings the past few days and I want to share them with you.
  • I am getting a new calling at church and I'm rather excited about it. It's not going to be easy for me, but I always like a challenge. The tender mercy with this has been the personal revelation I've already received in conjunction with my calling. It feels good to know that Heavenly Father is looking out for me.
  • My social life is such a blessing. Percy and I ended up moving our lunch date to today and it was so good to see him again. He's such a great guy and I love being able to spend time with him - even if it is so sporadic right now. I also have had fun times going one other dates here and there. I don't know where anything is going with any of these guys and that's okay right now. I definitely feel the need to take a little bit of time and step back and analyze my feelings for everyone involved. I feel bad because I want to go out with everyone every weekend - but I just can't do that right now. I literally have no time for anything in the evenings. Hopefully none of the guys think I'm blowing them off...except for Grizzly Bear. He can think that, since I'm definitely not interested in him in that way.
  • I'm getting a new roommate next week. Some of you might remember the hubabaloo trying to get a 3rd roommate last year - this year it was a piece of cake. I hope she's nice and fits into the groove we have. I'm just thankful that we were able to sell her portion of the contract so quickly.
In the long run - I'm feeling very blessed. I have amazing friends that I can talk to and share my thoughts and feelings on life.

Just a side note on this whole dating thing - I think I'm realizing that dating is HARD. ha ha ha, I mean, I knew that already and what not - but things with SwingKid were so quick and easy that we didn't have to deal with the hard stuff of going out with other people at the same time, wondering about feelings, showing affection, etc.  And I have to do all those things. In some ways it is a lot of fun to date a lot of people and stuff like that but it confuses my head and my heart. At some point I know I need to make decisions but for now I'm just going to focus on the musical. and my new calling. :)

let us all take a moment of silence to reflect on the death of my beloved.... dryer.

My lovely hair dryer has been a part of my hair styling tools since approximately 2003 (maybe even longer. I forget when he was purchased).

He was a little bit of home that came with me to college. My hair dryer got me through the best of haircuts, and the worst of haircuts. He worked hard and was ever so diligent for giving me the prettiest, flowy-est locks in all the land and yesterday he died.

I could tell something was wrong on Saturday afternoon as we worked together to get my hair all silky smooth and pretty for my date to Disney's Camp Rock at the SCERA Shell. He worked, but not like normal. Also, he was making funny sounds and the plug seemed to be getting a little too hot.  Last night, after my shower, I went to blow dry my bangs so they weren't all funky this morning and my dear friend the hair dryer just wouldn't turn on. He just....gave up the ghost.

This makes me really, really sad. I don't want to replace my hair dryer, but I know that it must be done.

Rest in peace my lovely hair dryer friend, I hope hair heaven is kind to you.

And until I get a new hair dryer, pardon my hair....i might look a little....crazy. ;)

Friday Things

Well guys, yesterday was a CRAZY day and I never got around to my normal Thursday Things post. So here is a Friday things instead! :o)

  • I was late to work today. Totally slept through my one and only alarm that was in my room - left my phone in my car. Smart, Alishka, very smart. :P Luckily everyone was understanding. I've NEVER been late to work before (in my 2 years here!).
  • Needless to say it has been a very adrenaline filled morning. :o)
  • I totally got ready for work in 10 minutes. I am awesome.
  • The show is in less than two weeks. Insanity. I still can't believe I'm in the cast of AIDA. I keep pinching myself to make sure this is real!
  • I have been feeling...."meh" about going out with Percy again. He is obviously a very slow mover and what not and I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever step things up. I'm not going out with him this weekend...and I'm okay with that.
  • We (Percy and I) are going to lunch on Monday. His idea - which is a good sign right? sigh.
  • Talked to Blindman2. Unfortunately my only available day for a date is his only unavailable day. :( And he has finals coming up and then I have the show...and pretty much we won't really be able to go out until after the show in August. :(
  • HOWEVER, I did tell him he should come to the musical w/Truit and husband and we could go do something together afterwards. That will probably happen.
  • Truit's husband also suggested we do another game night on a Sunday evening. That will probably also happen. I am okay with these things. Blindman2 is a cutie.
  • I needed a date for Saturday night - and seeing as how I didn't want to take Grizzly Bear or Percy and Blindman2 was busy I decided to ask someone new out! He's in my ward and we worked together at church last summer. He was very nice on the phone and seemed more than willing and dare I say excited to go out with me on Saturday night!
  • Yay for dates with boys!
  • My hair and I are not friends right now, but unfortunately with my schedule I can't get it done until after AIDA is month from now.
  • Speaking of hair, I think I want to change it up - but seeing as how I'm still growing it out, I'm not sure what I want to do. :( Maybe a color change? I don't know.....I like the red!
  • I'm thinking I need cupcakes this weekend. hmmm....
  • I'm getting a new calling in church on Sunday. I'm very excited and nervous about it. I'll share the details with you later! :o)
well....that's all folks. A crazy day leading into a what looks like to be a really good weekend! Have a safe one!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 30th Edition

Let's take just moment and notice that this is the 30th edition of Tender Mercy Tuesday! 30 weeks my friends! Isn't that crazy?! I can't believe it has been that long.

Anywho, moving on. :)

So today, I was planning on working through my lunch, getting off at 3:30pm and then going to the temple, running home having JUST enough time to change and get my butt over to rehearsal. I hate working through lunch. But, at least I remembered to pack my lunch and such.

well, today's my coworker's birthday and her request was that we all go to lunch together and it's been SO LONG since we've done a department lunch that my boss is taking all of us to lunch today. AND i don't have to worry about counting it as my lunch hour according to my boss. :) SUCH a tender mercy. I get better food, still get to leave early AND get a break from the grind that i was worried would kill me.

PLUS I get to go to the temple today and I can already tell that it's going to be a good thing. :o)

I feel so blessed. so, so, so, blessed. Life is good.

and then comes a flying wrench

You know how things are going well, or at least semi-well and you think you have life figured out and then WHAM! out of nowhere a wrench flies in to mess with your head, plans and life.

A flying wrench came yesterday by the name of Blindman2. You might remember him from WAY BACK when we went on a first date set up by Truit and her hubby.

Well, last night Truit and her hubby hosted a fondue dinner night. It was me, a mutual girlfriend of Truit and me and then Blindman2. Blindman2 had a really good excuse for not calling me...but there's still the fact that he didn't call me (that I'm not going to go into because it's long. it's valid though. completely valid). Anyways, we had a wonderful evening. he and I ended up next to each other all night. We ate good food, played Risk and 5 Crowns. We played footsies under the table - very flirty like and he kept my toes warm. We touched elbows, caught each other's eye and flirted verbally all night long. He walked me to my car at the end of the night and gave me a hug and promised to call this time. We'll see if he follows through or not.

Here's the thing - he's cuter than Percy when it comes to looks. He's taller, and nerdier. He's way more my "type" and fun to be with. Percy is fun too...don't get me wrong, but the only reason I find him attractive is becasue of his personality and how well we get a long. If I was looking at a book of pictures of Percy and Blindman2 I would definitely linger more on Blindman2 than I would Percy. sigh.

so what's a girl to do when she has  a group date this weekend and has tentative plans with Grizzly Bear that she doesn't want to happen? When said girl would love to see Percy again but would also really like to see the possibilities with Blindman2 but he's GOT to make the next move.

gah.  Stupid flying wrench.

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Hey there friends. I hope you had the most splendid of weekends. Mine was filled with loads of rehearsal, and a date with Percy.

I like going on dates, they are fun. However, they also manage to fill me with confusion on occasion. Percy and I went to my dear friend's wedding reception and then we went to Park City where we walked Main Street and poked our heads into the open galleries. It was great times and I really enjoyed our time together.

Last week I went out with Grizzly Bear. We went to Chile's to get yummy food and then watched a movie at his place. I've held strong and haven't let him kiss me again - but i do let him cuddle with me and hold my hand.

Here's my dilemma. I like Grizzly Bear - at least, I like how I feel when I'm with him, but I'm not sure I LIKE him. Ya know? I think it's more that he fills the physical affection void in my life. Whereas with Percy, I enjoy spending time with him. We always have the best time together, but we haven't crossed the psychical boundary yet. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good thing....but there's still an uncertainty to if a relationship between us really will work.

Grizzly Bear made loose plans to go out with me this coming Saturday night. Here's the thing  - with rehearsals and stuff the only time  I can go on dates is Saturday nights. Part of me does want to go with Grizzly Bear because I want to continue to get to know him, but I don't really see us in a relationship.  Where on the other hand, I really want to go out with Percy because I see the possibility. Maybe I should just flip a coin???

I think I just answered my own confusion - but any of your thoughts are welcome. How do I let down Grizzly Bear gently and nicely? I've never really been in this position before......

  • PS I didn't mention this earlier but Percy randomly stopped by on Monday evening. We got Sonic drinks and hung out. It was a BLAST and I loved his spontaneity.
  • Grizzly Bear has been a little more attentive this week...but I still feel that he's very hot and cold and many times I feel like a booty call with him. The Mormon version of course. ;)
  • We open AIDA in 3 weeks from today folks. THREE WEEKS. It's insanity I say, insanity.
  • what else should I tell you...
  • oh yeah, I am in LOVE with life.

Senses of Summer

I am having THE BEST summer so far! I seriously am loving everything that has been going on. I'm a huge fan.Anyways, I thought I would share some of my favorite things this summer through the five senses. Enjoy!

Sight: I think my favorite things to look at right now is this:

I feel so LEGIT with this awesome little piece of plastic covered paper. My friend who is also in AIDA with me wrote up a post about all the awesome things going on with our musical. The SCERA is a legit theater to work with and I am SO GLAD that I took the risk to audition and that they directors liked me enough to cast me in the Ensemble. If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, get on that.

Smell:  I love the smells of summer. Fresh cut grass, sunscreen, the occasional rain name it I love it. One of my current favorite smells is the humid heat. Utah doesn't usually get too humid, but we've had a tiny bit of humidity the past week or so and I really enjoy smelling the outside.  Basically I think summer has some of the best smells. (minus, of course, the smell of Autumn. I love the smell of Autumn.)

Touch: One of my favorite things has always been running through the grass barefoot. It just feels so AWESOME! I also am enjoying warm pavement. As long as it isn't too hot, I also really enjoy walking on warm pavement.

Taste: I LOVE a good BBQ. Also, s'mores. I don't consider it a successful summer unless I get to eat at least one s'more. summer = s'mores in my opinion. Now I want a s'more....yummy....

Hear: I love to hear the birds singing in the mornings as I drive to work. Such a wonderful sound. Also, I love to hear the crickets at night. Something soothing about that sound. The other sound that I just LOVE is that of the boom of fireworks. It's such a thrilling sound!

What are some of your favorite senses of summer?

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 29th Edition

Good Merry Morning all! I hope you are having just a fantastic morning! I'm a little on the sleepy side after going on a late night Sonic run with Percy last night....but other than that, I'm fantastic. :o)

I really love Tuesdays and the opportunity I have to reflect on the small and simple blessings I have been given. Last week it was the realization of how happy I am when I'm dancing. It doesn't matter what kind of dancing - I just love dancing!  I have decided that I need to be more consistent in taking an open adult class and go to Blue Tango on a more regular basis. It is good for my soul to be dancing.

Have a great and blessed day all!

Friday, July 08, 2011

I am so happy it is Friday! The weekend is here again! I'm excited for the few plans I have this weekend, but first I must catch you up on my life. I really have been super busy, but no worries! I am taking the time now to blog about my life. I love life. It has been so great to me as of late. I've been thinking on how I want to do this - either by day or by subject matter, and I think we'll go with by day. Seems like a great way to go, in my opinion.

Friday, July 1st

I didn't have to work this day. I was so super happy about this! A four-day weekend just for me! (well, and half of my company...) Regardless, I was excited to have an extra day off. I started the day off by having lunch with my best friend from high school, her husband and her husband's best friend from high school. It was good times. They had really wanted me to meet this friend - to see if anything clicked. He seemed like a great guy, but not much clicked. It was all good though - I got to eat lunch with really fun people at the Pizza Pie Cafe so I was a happy camper.

After that I went to the Draper Utah Temple and then came home to eat some dinner before going to rehearsal. Rehearsal was good that night and I realized that I have to memorize the words to the songs I'm singing. I sort of forgot about that. I'm happy to report that since then I have memorized 1.5 of my 3 songs. GO me!

After rehearsal I went over to Grizzly Bear's house and watched The Adjustment BureauI liked this movie a lot. I always love movies with dancers in them - the people who danced in this film were phenomenal. I loved watching it even if it was just for a brief moment. I enjoy hanging out with Grizzly Bear. We cuddled a little bit, but that was it. Since then we haven't really texted or anything. I think he's lost interest. I don't really know that for sure, but that's my guess.

Saturday, July 2nd

The only plans I had for this day were that of going to the Stadium of Fire with Percy.  I slept in that morning and then ran some errands and stuff. I also cleaned my room. I love having a clean room. Makes me happy.  I curled my hair super cute and Percy met me at my apartment just before 6 pm. We drove down to Cougartown and picked up a pizza at Papa John's. We then went to campus (where I found THE BEST PLACE to park in the whole wide world! Seriously! NOBODY parked there!) were we had a picnic dinner. Percy is a great conversationalist and I really enjoy sitting and talking with him. It's fun times. After our picnic, and after we had taken the picnic stuff back to my car we walked over to LaVell Edwards Stadium. We played a game of people watching (which I totally won. I think.) and then went into the stadium. We didn't have AMAZING seats, but they weren't horrid either.

The Stadium of Fire was AMAZING. I loved being able to see my friend The Whits perform (even though they didn't win) and David Archuleta was cute as always. My favorite performance of the night? Brad Paisley. Hands down! Not only does that man sing well, and is attractive as all get out - but he performs a great concert! He was fun to see and it was a really fun show. The fireworks that followed were incredible and I loved seeing them from inside the stadium. It had been 15 years since I last saw the fireworks from inside the stadium and I was much impressed. Percy put his arm around me and we sat there enjoying the awesome display.

We ended up going to Walmart together to pick up some things for our individual Sunday dinners and we just continued to have a blast together. He asked me if we could go out again and I agreed. A date hasn't been set because with my rehearsal schedule and his busy life we haven't been able to find a time that works. I'm sure that we'll make it work sometime very soon.

Sunday, July 3rd

This day was uneventful. Had dinner with Truit and her husband. Played games with friends. Went to church. Not necessarily in that order. ;)

Monday, July 4th

Happy Independence Day! I started off celebrating the day by sleeping in, cleaning my kitchen, and making some yummy food. Then Sister B, her husband, and I all went to Seven Peaks. We had a blast spending the afternoon playing in the water and riding awesome slides. After our adventures there we went back to their apartment and BBQ'd yummy food on their new grill and played Yahtzee. Such fun times!

So there you go. I had an amazing holiday weekend and I'm looking forward to some fun times this weekend as well. I have rehearsal tonight and then I plan on going to bed ridiculously early since I've been up way too late the past three nights. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my Bountiful Basket, visit my sister and go to rehearsal. I don't have any solid plans for tomorrow evening yet, but if all else fails I plan on breaking in my brand new sewing machine by either making an apron or some new throw pillows for the living room. :o) I live a crazy life, I know. ;)

Thursday Things

  • First off, it's Thursday. I love Thursdays.
  • Yesterday I took a ballet class. I love taking class. I decided last night that I need to be more regular in taking classes - from anywhere really. I need to do my research and find classes that I can take with my schedule. Even it makes me extraordinarly busy.
  • I know I haven't posted about my weekend. The story is coming. I'll probably make it my Friday special or something. Sorry it has been so long in coming! I know you're waiting!
  • Blocking rehearsals are interesting. I loved watching our director and see the wheels turn in his brain as he decided who to have enter and where. Fascinating.
  • It reminds me of choreographing a dance. Only with this there are words and songs to take into account.
  • My sunburn is itching. sigh. (oh yeah...I got sunburned this weekend. You probably didn't know that because I haven't told you any stories. HA!)
  • I think I'm going dancing tonight even though I have to work tomorrow. Dancing makes me whole and I really like going there. So yeah...I'll probably be extra tired tomorrow. oh well.
  • I have no plans for my weekend currently. Minus rehearsals.
  • Rehearsals will take over my life starting Wednesday. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Although, with the show opening 4 weeks from today I'll probably be happy we're rehearsing so much. I'm just glad I'm not a lead. I probably couldn't handle having to memorize so quickly.
  • There are times like today when I wish I didn't work so that I could watch the Harry Potter Live Premiere video streaming.
  • I can't believe Harry Potter is ending. So crazy!
  • I still have my free massage I won from work that I have to use by the end of August. I need to make that appointment pronto.
I think that's it for now folks....stay tuned for holiday weekend update. :o) hugs!

Tender Mercy Tuesdsay - 28th Edition

Hi there. It's been a long weekend. Full of fun in the sun, fun with friends, fun with family, and fun with boys. I promise to give you a full recap later - I'm sure you want to hear about all the fun fun fun fun I the meantime I want to take a moment and be thankful for how well my Heavenly Father knows me.

See...even with all the fun I had this weekend I struggled with a few things emotionally. Mainly related to past relationships and where things could have been if we were still together. I don't really want to go in to a lot of detail because it's not needed. I've worked through the emotional angst and I know that I'll be okay, but that doesn't mean that this weekend wasn't hard. One of the harder ones I've had to be honest.

However, Heavenly Father knows me SO WELL that he made sure I had friends who made plans with me, family who called ME and asked me to spend the holiday with THEM and basically HE made sure that I had a well of support around me through all my hard moments. It made getting through my thoughts and emotions that much easier because I had people I could talk to who understood where I was coming from right then.  How grateful I am for that tender mercy.
