I am at home sick today. I hate staying home sick. Hate it!!! I'm the type of person that tries to keep going and going until I collapse. Except for today. I decided it would be better if I stayed home today. So here I sit, all by myself on my couch wishing I was in class. Who does that? Who wishes they were in class? I know why I'm wishing I was in class. See, if I was in class, it would mean that I'm not sick and that life would be normal. Instead I'm at home thinking of everything I would be doing if I wasn't still in my pajamas. [sigh] this sucks. i can think of things that would make this better...but that would be me living in the past, and that's not something i enjoy doing. so if anyone has nothing better to do and wants to sit with an invalid i'll be here all day long. :P

what do you do when you're sick?

my band

I've been meaning to post this for quite some time now. However, with everything else that I've wanted to write about (i'm trying to post more often), instead of posting it the same day as something else, I thought it deserved it's own day. So here it is...thanks to chillygator for showing me how it's done. I know present to you:

Ghetto Fabulous' new album: Strangeness in the Proportion.

It suits me don't ya think?

yuck, ick, gross and water logged to boot

there is something doing the funky chicken in my throat. no joke. it's driving me nuts. my throat is scratchy and it hurts. a cough decided to grace my presence about mid-morning and that makes my throat hurt even more because it's that deep, intense kind of cough. and man alive it is not comfortable!!!

To try and help this i started my morning by being on campus at 7am to observe a 1-hour ballet class (that didn't help, but this next part did). While sitting in that class I managed to drink 20 oz of orange juice. (well almost, I finished it at work) From there I went to work where I drank 20 oz of "energy" vitamin water, I continued to drink that throughout my next class and finished that at 11. I then walked up the stairs to watch an amazing devotional by Paul Rusesabagina. (the guy depicted in Hotel Rwanda) Before that started I filled up my water bottle with normal water, and started to drink that. I finished that 20 oz water bottle while at work. Then it was off to ballet class, where I attended with a full 20 oz water bottle. Drank the entire thing during class. After class I filled up my water bottle again, and drank my 5th 20-oz bottle of liquid (still water at this point) during rehearsal. If you've been paying attention and are any good at math, that adds up to 100-oz of liquid from 7am to 7pm. That's a lot of liquid!! I have some water sitting here by me now. I have to go to the bathroom so often, it's crazy!! I do feel like it's helped a little bit, but I definitely still feel sick. :P yuck, ick, gross.....

Goodbye President Hinckley. You will be missed and mourned much today. It was somewhat a shock to hear of his passing, because I didn't know that he was ailing in his health, but at the same time it has been somewhat expected for a few years now. He was 97 years old! Even though it comes to a shock, I know that it will be okay. It is interesting for me to thing that he has been the main leader in my lifetime. While this is sad, Growing up I have only really known President Hinckley as the prophet and president of the church. I do remember a little bit of President Benson and President Hunter, but truly President Hinckley sobering news, I know that he must be so happy right now. I am sure that it is just a party up there with his wife Marjorie Hinckley and his friends and other family members that passed before he did. Thank you for everything you did for the church, it was an incredible time of growth. God bless...

Time has flown

So as I sit here on my living room couch watching the Men's 2008 Ice Skating Championships I realized that January is practically over! The first of February will grace itself on Friday with Groundhog Day happening on Saturday morning. Where did January go?!?! It is so interesting to me how time passes. Seriously, with January practically being over that means the semester is 1/4 of the way over. WOW.

I realized this past week that my graduation date is quickly approaching. Well, quickly for me in any case. At this point in time, I am 90% sure that I will graduate in April of 2009. I will be going to school full time both spring and summer terms and then Fall and Winter semesters I will only have to go part-time/ 3/4 time. It will all depend on what kind of scholarship money I get for the upcoming Fall/Winter year if I go full time or not. I only have 7.5 and 8 credits respectively to take each semester. The thought scares me, but at the same time it is rather exciting to be almost done with the next phase in my life. Where I go from here, I have no idea. I have time to figure that out, but who knows. I found out last night that sister B has been looking at some smaller/more liberal artsy kind of colleges outside of Utah. It scares my mother to send her somewhere else far away, but I told my mom last night that if I'm still single I'll go with her and get a job wherever she is going to school. We'll live in some cool little apartment and it will be great fun. Who knows what will really happen but soon, I will be a real adult. SCARY!!!

I don't think I'm ready to become a real adult. I like being a kid, but I guess someday I have to grow up. I just didn't think it would come so soon.

Why Yes....

I am freaking incredible. Thank you very much. :-) ha ha ha just kidding. That was just the first thought that popped into my head as I started to write today. The sun came out today. It made me super, ridiculously happy. I love the sunshine. It makes me so happy. I am very much ready for the sun to come out more frequently, to make me warm, and be able to wear cute spring clothes. :-D

Music has a huge influence on my life. I think part of this is because I am a dancer. I use music in every part of my life. So I guess it should come to no surprise that since Monday I have found some music that really speaks to me and has helped me know that everything is going to be A-OK. And while there is a whole song list of music, I'm going to share my top 3 songs that have really helped me out. So take a listen!

[Disclaimer, most of the lyrics in these songs apply, but if for some reason there sounds like there's a "I hate you" part (which I don't think there is too much of,) it doesn't apply to my situation okay? Things ended well, but these songs have really helped me out and I wanted to share it with you.]

Song #1: Starts With Goodbye by Carrie Underwood. [video of pictures to the song found here]

Song #2: Over You by Daughtry [music video]

and last but not least,

Song #3: Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park

Others that are really good, but not quite my top 3 but did make my list: Whenever You Remember by Carrie Underwood, You Are Loved by Josh Groban, My Immortal by Evanescence, I'll Think of You That Way by Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and Stand by Rascal Flatts.

And the song I dedicate for someone else is I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. Look into it. For me. Thanks.

color me....

Take this test!

You're yellow, the color of joy and energy — two things you definitely bring to everyone around you. It's hard for anyone to be sad or lonely in your presence; your sunny disposition and cheery outlook just won't allow it. The warmth of your personality shines through in the kindness you show friends and family (and strangers, too). Always ready with a lighthearted joke or heartfelt compliment, you know how to make people feel good about themselves, so they can't get enough of you. Yellow is a warm and inviting color for a warm and inviting person — you!

No matter how many times I take tests like these, they always come out like this, I am SO yellow it's not even funny. However, I wouldn't want it any other way. :-) I like being yellow.

thank you

to everyone who has called, texted, messaged, hugged me, fed me everything. you guys are the best friends a girl could ask for and I'm amazed that you have been so strong for me. it's good to know that there are so many people that care about me. THANK YOU!!!!

I bought new shoes today, as I am apt to do when distressed like this, :-) they are very hot heeled boots, I'm excited to wear them someday soon in the future. i just need an excuse to do so...and thanks to my parents...they sent me flowers and they are so pretty and just make me smile seeing them on the table. thank you for crying with me.

All in all the gratitude i feel is overwhelmingly and I can't say thank you enough to all of my friends. New and old. Thank you.
I just wish I could go to sleep, wake up and all this pain would be gone. That would make all of this so much easier. I know that which is hard is what will make me stronger but,I don't want to be stronger right now, I want to be healed.

when a chapter in your life ends, it's really hard.

my eyes hurt from the tears shed at the end of this chapter in my book of life, but through these tears I know that this chapter was meant to be in my life and that it can only mean better things are yet to come.

i can only hope that this chapter will be easy to end, as chapters like these are hard ones to get over.

thanks for everything cpm, you are a great friend.

CPM, his roommate, another friend, and I all went shopping at the South Towne Mall yesterday. It was a lot of fun! I went with a purpose too. I wanted a cute new dress for a decent price, these new heels, and possibly a pair of pants. However, when I went into the Payless store, they told me they don't carry those shoes! Curses!! The only store that does is Fashion Place Mall. So I think I'll be calling them to see if they actually have them before actually going up there.

Even without getting the shoes I wanted, my shopping trip wasn't a bust. I bought this super cute dress:
I am wearing this dress today to church with my roommate's hot boots, and I'm really excited about it. The other super great thing about buying this dress is the fact that I got it half off!!! Hurray for me! I didn't buy any new pants, but I felt so accomplished buying this dress. :-D The other plus is that it looks really cute on. Hurray for me.

It is currently 9:57 in the morning, and it is only 12 degrees Fahrenheit. IT'S SO FREAKING COLD!!!!!!!

I forgot to look at my little weather bug when I got to work this morning, but it must have been somewhere between 8-10 degrees when I walked to campus. I wore: one pair of jeans, with one pair of sweats over them; I also wore my down east tee, a chenille sweater, my company jacket, my wool pea coat, gloves, one scarf, and a hat. I'm sure I looked pretty silly...but at least I didn't freeze anything off. :-P

I hope I survive this freakishly cold weather that has settled in Utah. I am SO ready for spring.

I love princess movies. Little Mermaid is one of my favorites, mostly for the music. My other favorite, that is so close to being first, is Anastasia.

Today I have had Once Upon a December stuck in my head. It is a very pretty song, and I like it lots. In fact, I love most of the soundtrack. However, I have one, teensy-weensy problem. I don't own the soundtrack. So, as I sat here at work humming this song, I thought, "silly goose! why not just buy the soundtrack on iTunes???" so I pulled up iTunes and did a quick little search. No dice. They have some of the songs from Anastasia, but they don't have the original cast soundtrack. How frustrating is that? The only way I can find to actually get this soundtrack is to buy the cd!!! Sigh. Maybe that will go on my birthday wish list.... :-)

i couldn't help but sing this song as I walked to schcool this morning. Why might you ask? Mostly because I was traipsing through 6" of snow! I am not a fan. I am done with snow. I am ready for spring. I'm praying for an early spring, so hopefully that little groundhog doesn't see his shadow...

I hate Murphy's Law with every fiber of my being. Honestly, I thought some kind of sickness (flu, cold, etc.) would catch up with me over the break because I wouldn't be going like I was during the semester and getting sick would just happen. In fact, I told myself it should happen during the break so I could be 100% by the start of the new semester (which is tomorrow by the way). Well guess what? My plans didn't happen, in fact my cold started to come on Friday evening and when I woke up yesterday morning I was very congested, a little achy, and my head felt like it was going to explode. I feel somewhat better today, but no where near where I need to be by tomorrow. I'm shooting just to make myself better so I can actually go to work and school, and not worry about dancing, but I have to be able to dance by Tuesday for rehearsal. [sigh]

In other news CPM comes back to Provo tomorrow and all y'all that know me know how excited I am for him to be back. I made it the entire break without too much heartbreak, but it was still hard and I'm glad he'll soon be back. And now I think I'm going to rest my poor exploding head.

Choreography has interested me for some time now. I think the first time I realized how much I loved creating movement to music was my Senior year of high school when I choreographed my senior project to Dixie Chicks' "Top of the World." I loved this music for the last couple minutes of the song due to the sweet string stuff that goes on. Pretty cool music. Having that opportunity to choreograph to the music, pick costumes, and set the lighting myself and the watching the piece on stage was an incredible feeling and one that I decided I wanted to keep having. Thus, I decided I wanted to be a choreographer. I came here to school to be a dance major so that I can choreograph.

My sophomore year of college I was still performing with Ballet Utah, the company I trained with in high school (I did take my freshman year off from them). I asked for permission, and received it, to choreograph a piece for the gala performance in February. I worked with a really good guy friend of mine and together we created a piece about good, evil, and temptations in life. It was an amazing piece that I actually danced in. While I will never dance in a piece I choreograph again, it was a really cool piece and I had a lot of compliments about it after the show.

So I continued on in my quest of getting a degree in dance. Last year, I had the opportunity to put together a piece for Ballet Showcase's spring show; however, at the time I didn't have anything in mind, and there wasn't a piece of music that inspired me. Later on after our show we still had time until the end of the semester so for our choreographic workshop I worked on a piece that I set on two girls to Billy Joel's Lullaby (Goodnight, My Angel). It was a comfort zone piece, but was well received by my teachers and what not.

This year we were told we could put together a choreographic proposal that would be due in November for our March show. I was determined to get something into this show. So I searched and searched for the perfect piece of music. When suddenly, it hit me. During the summer I had been driving in the car with BKT, one of my awesome FHE brothers at the time, and we were listening to a CD of his when some sweet music came on that was happy, peppy, and overall perfect for dancing to. I told him that someday I wanted to choreograph to that music. So late in September, I called up the BKT and asked if I could come and listen to his music to find something awesome. 2 hours later I had my music selected, cut, and ready to go. I turned in my proposal, which was accepted and started rehearsal soon after our November show. Currently I have 2/3 of the music choreographed and set on the girls. I will be finishing the choreography in the next couple of days and teach it to them when we get back to school next week. I will then be showing it to our director the week or so after that to get the heads up or down on whether or not this piece will be in the spring show.

Overall, I just love the choreographic process. It's so refreshing to me to take a piece of music and mold steps to it and find the costumes and set the lighting. I love the feeling and I'm excited at the prospect of completing this project. I certainly will have at least one more project here at BYU, which will be my culminating senior choreographic project. I don't know what I am going to do for that yet, but I'm excited at the prospect of yet again finding a new piece of music and molding my ideas into it.
