Fall is coming!!!

You guys! Fall is coming!! As I drive to work in the mornings my little car thermostat has started registering A LOT cooler in the mornings (example, this morning it was 59 as I drove to work!) and I need a sweatshirt for the first little bit every morning.

I love it.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons and it makes me SO HAPPY that Fall is practically here. What I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is the fact that it is the 12th of September. Man. Where does time go????

Anyways, I have some good news for all y'all. TWO pieces of good news actually....

1.  Soldier Boy decided at the beginning of the month that it would be better for him to live closer to me and his daughter rather than closer to work (which actually ended at the beginning of September) SO...he's been looking for somewhere to live. Well, a facebook friend in my ward posted something on the ward facebook page Monday morning, Soldier Boy called and he has a place to live that is literally down the street from me. :o) This is PERFECT for us and is going to be SO GREAT.

2. A LONG time ago, Soldier Boy put in his packet to be promoted from a Specialist in the reserves to being a Sergeant. After a long time waiting, lots of paperwork and a sliver of good news last week, he was issued his orders as a SERGEANT yesterday. The BEST thing about this is that because of the slowness and the fact that his orders should have come through a LONG time ago, they were back dated to 1 May 2012. Meaning....he'll get a nice back pay paycheck coming to him as soon as they process that paperwork. (oh the paperwork in the military. ick) ANYWAYS. this is a BIG DEAL and we're so grateful it came through when it did. He'll have his "pinning" ceremony this weekend at his monthly drill exercise and it's going to be great. I am so proud of him for completing this HUGE milestone. :o) My boyfriend is the best.

So there you go! We're hoping for one more big piece of news in the coming weeks, but we have to wait a little bit for that....so I'll stay hush-hush about it for a while longer. In the meantime, we just keep chugging along. :o) Ciao!

Thursday Things and such

*yawn* Hi friends. I am a little on the sleepy side. That seems to be the story of my life these days. I keep attempting to get myself to go to bed early...but alas, it just doesn't seem to happen like ever. Oh well. I must be living life right? or maybe I'm just crazy. ;)

Let's see what awesome things are on my brain today shall we?

• I am so glad that it is a holiday weekend. I am very much looking forward to sleeping in on Monday. :o)

• Also, because of my awesome work schedule I have a 3-day weekend, a 3-day work week, followed by another 3-day weekend. What follows then is a 5-day work week and then a whole week off (my "vacation") for my sister's wedding/the end-year show. I can't believe it's coming up that fast. Gah.

• I feel like I have 500 things to do. I really don't have that much to do, but it feels like I do. le sigh.

• My iPod touch came in the mail this week! It is so fancy and shiny. I am in love with it.

Doesn't it look shiny? sigh. I think it is going to make my life way easier. We shall see!

•  Also! I bought shoes for my the wedding. Finally. It only took me ages to find something I liked and that went with the outfits we are wearing. :o)

see?! aren't they super cute? I'm rather excited to wear them and stuff.

• Sister B has her bridal session tomorrow. It should be fun times! I'm rather excited to see how they turn out and what not. 

• I am not happy that it is supposed to rain this weekend. I just want sunshine and happiness! Is that too much to ask?

• I'm singing a solo in church here in a few weeks. EEK! It's part of a choral number...but still. Me. A Solo. :P

• I am making new friends in my ward. I love friends. People to do things with! Hurrah!

Basically...that's my life. The end-year recital + the wedding are slowly taking over - but everything will be said and done in 3 weeks + 2 days. I'm not sure what I'll do with myself at that point - but I'll probably play!! A lot!! :o)

drip drip drip

I'm pretty sure it has been raining non-stop since Tuesday.

Okay, maybe not non-stop - but it has been raining more than normal! We have so much water everywhere and the ground is sopping wet! The road by my house just has sheets of water rolling down hill. It's crazy-sauce. To top it all off I'm not sure there is an end in sight to all this rain. KSL Weather claims in the forecast that it should clear out this weekend - but it won't be anything like last weekend. sigh. I was so hoping for sunshine this weekend.

The good thing with all the rain? It makes everything SUPER green. I do love me the color green.

anywho...moving on to...

I love that it is Thursday. On Tuesday I felt like the week was NEVER going to end. I have tomorrow off, and even though it's probably still going to raining, I'm very excited to not have to come in to work. :-)

• I bought one of THESE yesterday from eBay. I am SO excited for it to come in the mail! It will be like Christmas! Or my Birthday! But Not!

• There are exactly 4 weeks until my sisters wedding. eek!! 

• The centerpieces are only partially done. I'm hoping to work on them more this weekend.

• Especially because the wax got here yesterday.

• I got my bangs trimmed yesterday. 

• Good thing too, they were so long and I really couldn't see because they'd get in the way!

• I'm going to the temple tomorrow with my best friend from high school. I'm stoked.

• I have a camping trip planned for the end of July. I am VERY excited for that.

• The end-year recital is in 4 weeks and two days. Yes. the same week as the wedding. It will be an INSANE week. :P

• Because of memorial day I have three 3-day weekends in a row. This is a very good thing.

• Leviticus randomly showed up last night. I was watching Megamind at the time and he stuck around to finish watching the movie with me. 

• I'm going dancing tonight and I am SO EXCITED.

• I am trying this recipe for dinner tonight and I am VERY MUCH looking forward to it.

 I feel like there is something I am forgetting to tell you...but alas nothing is coming to mind. Have a most splendid Thursday y'all! LOVES

once upon a Thursday

Good morning my dear internet friends! I hope you're having a lovely day. So far mine has been just splendid. I have just this work day + a one hour ballet class and it will be my weekend. Hurrah!! It's supposed to be a gorgeous weekend and THANK GOODNESS. I haven't had a beautiful weekend (weather wise) in SO LONG. I plan on spending lots of time outside and in the sunshine. :o)

Anyways...it's time for some Thursday things!! dun de de de dun!!!

• I went to the SLC Temple with HiccupMel last night. It was such a fabulous time. I love going to the temple. Going with a friend was the most marvelous thing.

• Speaking of HiccupMel, today is her Birthday!!! Make sure to visit her and wish her a happy birthday.  I will be forever grateful to Chillygator for introducing me to HiccupMel. I'd be without a very good friend if it wasn't for Chillygator. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HiccupMel!

• I'm getting my car washed this weekend and vacuumed. It needs it so desperately. 

• It's pay day.

• I love pay day.

• I'm going to Blue Tango tonight. I'm rather excited. I love Blue Tango.

• There are 6 weeks FROM TODAY until Sister B's wedding. There is so much to do and I might die between now and then. 

• I don't want to die.

• I still need shoes.

• Hiccupmel suggested I look for nude colored shoes instead of white ones to match my outfit. I think she might be a genius.

• Work has been crazy this week. My brain has been used SO MUCH. I'm ready to have a day off and not have to think too hard.

• I need to go grocery shopping.

• Today is Cinco de Mayo. Celebrate!

• I wore my brand new hot pink peep-toe heels yesterday. I feel so sexy wearing them that I wish I could handle wearing them all the time. They are just that AWESOME.

• Speaking of awesome, I apparantly really like that word because in my post yesterday I managed to say "It was awesome" no less than 6 times. Man, I think I need a thesaurus. ha! 

• We now have a disco ball hanging in my office. This makes me all sorts of giddy.

• Did I mention that tomorrow is my day off? Because it is, and I am very much excited for it.

Wishes for the Weekend

So I am sitting at work with a brain that is fried. I have a ton of data entry to deal with and I'm not looking forward to it. I am really tired because I went dancing last night, but I'm totally okay that that. I LOVE dancing and I needed the relaxing, fun evening with friends.

So...my wishes for the weekend:

• warmth. I'm not getting this wish seeing as how the next 3 days is supposed to be unseasonably cold with a Hard frost on Sunday morning. Not fun guys, not fun. The good news is that as of right now it's supposed to be BEAUTIFUL next week. Let's hope that holds true.

• I'm wishing for a calm, relaxing weekend. I have little to no plans this weekend and I'm very excited about this because I need some calm "me-time" to get some of my to-do list done. We'll see how that goes.

• I want to go see my friends' baby. She was born yesterday (4 weeks early!) and I am so happy for my friend.

• I am hoping my pot roast dinner on Sunday night turns out.

• While I am excited to have "me-time" this weekend, I also want to play with friends. I do have some plans for this evening...but I'm hoping to see some friends tomorrow night as well. Guess we'll see what happens.

I'm sure there are several other wishes for my weekend, but seeing as how I'm running on limited brain power right now and all of that brain power is being used for work we'll stop there. I hope you all have a splendid weekend. Loves!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 17th Edition

Good merry morning my dear friends. It's a beautiful day here in Utah and I'm trying to enjoy it knowing full well that by the end of the week it will be snowing. :(

I have a few great tender mercies for you, so without further ado:

• I walked out of the gym last night to find a VERY flat tire on my car. I called a friend, but before she and her guy friend could come and rescue me a very nice young man came up to me and offered to change my flat tire for me. He did it so quickly and was so nice about it. I love that there are still Good Samaritans in the world.

• This past weekend was the 181st Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was AMAZING. I heard exactly what I needed to hear for several different aspects of my life. It was wonderful. They already have the podcasts and other means to watch it up so hop on over and take a look-see. The text will be up on Thursday if you're a text person. :o)

• this might seem odd that I'm putting this as a tender mercy, but it was for me k? I called a boy...who shall now be known as Norsnob (I made that up just now. funny name though right? i like it.) Anyways. Norsnob is in my ward and he is AWESOME. I have tickets to the final performance in Ballet West's season for Saturday night and I needed a date. I was SO NERVOUS to call up Norsnob and ask him out, but guess what? He said yes! (also, I promise to catch you up on some Dating Battle Stories. It's been a while and I have a lot to tell you.)

anyways, never mind that I only got 4 hours of sleep last night because of my decision to go hot tubbing and watch a movie with my friends, I am HAPPY. Life is good and swell. The End.

BUSY Thursday things!

Well, as all hell starts to break loose all around me (things are INSANE at work right now!) I have just a few things on my mind:

• Spring Cleaning. I am so excited to do this. I am hoping I don't get burned out, because I REALLY REALLY want a clean house after Saturday. 

• Work is crazy busy. The phones won't stop ringing. I have to work tomorrow. I don't want to work tomorrow.

• Why don't I want to work tomorrow? Well, the weather is supposed to be the NICEST so far this year tomorrow. I want to play outside all day. :(

• I am going to the temple tomorrow night. Want to join me?

• I am really excited about General Conference. It is going to be awesome!

• Also awesome? The birthday present my roommate got me. We are going to break it in Sunday night during Chopped! All-Stars. :o) woo hoo!

• I am getting excited for summer. I can't wait for nice evenings.

• I had a date last night with a guy I met online. He will remain nameless until I decide on a name for him...or something. It was fun, but the jury is still out on how I feel.

• My poor roommate has to work ALL weekend - including Sunday afternoon. I am going to be all alone. Anyone want to come watch conference with me??

I think that's it for now...there's lots going on around here, and I'm okay with that. :o)

Spring Cleaning

Guys. Spring is slowly coming! I always feel like a yo-yo during Springtime in Utah. Gorgeous 60+ degrees one day, snow the next. It can be kind of infuriating, but at the same time I'm used to it so I just shrug my shoulders and say, "C'est la vie!"

Anywho, there have a few different posts by people I know and people I don't know on Spring Cleaning. dun dun duuuun....

My house is in dire need of some good old fashioned spring cleaning. With neither me nor my roommate moving out in the past two years - nor in the foreseeable future, the general areas of our house plus my bedroom are in serious need of a nice DEEP CLEANING. After seeing all of my friends/non-friends and their lists and before/after pictures I've decided that this weekend I am going to do my own Spring Cleaning. I've divided up my house into 5 areas: My Bedroom, the Bathroom, the Laundry room/Hallway, the Living Room/Storage/Balcony area, and the Kitchen. I'm planning on doing my bathroom over the course of today/tomorrow, my bedroom and the laundry room/hallway areas on Friday night and then the rest of the areas (aka the front of the house) on Saturday while watching General Conference. I'm not going to post my detailed list of what I'm doing in each area here but let's just say it is going to be a thorough TOP to BOTTOM spring cleaning. If you want my list of cleaning tasks for each area I'd be happy to share - just leave a comment with your email address (or email me first!) and I'll send you the Excel spreadsheets I've created. he he he. I'm such a crazy, organized cleaner. I love having things checked off on paper! I started doing this on sticky notes - but I needed more room for some of my areas. :o)

ANYWHO....I'm telling you all of this becasue 1) I think it's interesting and 2) I like being able to return and report. Keeps me responsible or something. That's all....let the cleaning commence!!

it's Thursday - and you know what that means, it's time for (bum de bum!)

Hurray Thursday Things!!! So without further ado...here we go!

• I have one goal for this weekend and that is to live the quote above - enjoy the small things. I am a firm believer that small things effect our lives a lot more than the big things. I've learned this lesson the hard way so this weekend - it's all about the small things baby.

• I asked Tron to go to a ballet in Bountiful that Dr. Teeth is performing in; however, Tron is going to be out of town and can't go. :( I did however ask a guy in my ward that is totally awesome and it should be fun times!

• I don't work tomorrow and I am just SO EXCITED I just CAN'T WAIT! woo hoo! It will be a fun day filled with a temple trip with Sister B, an elementary school performance for my students, a night of RPG playing with my friends and hopefully me taking a ballet class. :o)

• I finally got myself back to the gym this week after a week and a half hiatus. That hiatus was bad news bears guys. It has been SO HARD getting myself back to the gym. I need to never not go again.

• The next two weeks are going to be SUPER busy but TONS of fun. I can't go into great detail here because some of the things happening are SURPRISES and peeps who read this blog are on the receiving end of the surprises. So....you all can just be surprised together after stuff happens! woot!

• Longer days are upon us and springy weather is coming! What is also coming is the start of Daylight Savings Time and I hate this with all my heart and I am not looking forward to losing an hour of sleep. bah humbug.

Thursday Things!

Good morning all y'all! Did you have a good hump day? Did you get through with everything intact? I most certainly did although some of my tasks I wanted to complete fell by the wayside, but hey c'est la vie right?

Anywho, I am full of random things so let's get this show on the road shall we?

• first off, yesterday was Dr. Seuss's birthday. I didn't do anything to celebrate, but seeing my cute little Thursday things logo makes me happy.

• I got my hairs did yesterday. I love going to the salon! It's so relaxing. I didn't do anythign drastic (although I considered it) and I decided last night that I'm not going to drastically cut my hair until after my 26th birthday. So...in a year. It's taken me a long time to get my hair long and I want to enjoy it! So...just a trim and color updates for me for the next year! woo hoo! (by telling you this, you're going to hold me to it right internets? can you handle that for me?)

• My birthday in in FOUR days! I am so excited to turn 25. I really am! It's going to be the best year ever!

• Speaking of birthdays, I'm having an awesome birthday party this weekend. I'll try to remember to take pictures and stuff. :o) Should be fun times!

• I hate the yo-yo-ness of Utah weather between Winter and Spring. The  beginning of this week was just simply gorgeous and today....not so much. While I don't think O-town will see any snow, there will be plenty of rain and cold winds. :(

• March is shaping up to be absolutely wonderful. I'm loving it!!

• I haven't gotten much sleep this week - I've tried to get to bed I really have! However, things keep popping up that are either a) more fun, b) more important or c) more fun. What can I say? I'm a flirt.

• Also, moments ago Tron texted me to just say hi and apologize for being too busy to talk to me. Honestly? I've been so busy myself that I haven't minded, but I definitely noticed. I'm so excited that this guy is thoughtful!

I hope all y'all have a wonderful Thursday. This weekend is going to be busy, but I most definitely like it that way. :o)

Thursday Things

Good morning internet friends!! It is a beautiful Thursday morning over here and I am one happy little Alishka. Tomorrow is my day off and I couldn't be happier about it. I am so excited to get some things done and go on a date and all of that good stuff. :o) I've got some great things to share with you, so keep reading!

• Today is Sister B's Birthday! She is 20 years old! Wow. I can't believe she's that old. :o) I love her. She is the best little sister and does so many great things for me. Last night I took her out for a haircut and dinner at Tucanos. Basically, I'm the best sister ever.  :o)

• I'm pretty sure I haven't told you yet - but Sister B is ENGAGED!!! YAY!!! She's getting married June 16th. I am so happy for her and her fiance is a great guy. 

• I happen to be the wedding planner for Sister B's wedding. Fun times y'all, fun times. You will probably hear more about that as we go.

• When Sister B and I were at Tucanos last night there were some guys seated next to us from my ward. They're new and I don't know them all that well, but I sort of knew their names. Well one of the guys, was just the BIGGEST flirt. He was so funny and I really enjoyed flirting with him throughout dinner. It was good times.

• I need new running shoes. Hopefully that will get taken care of tomorrow.

• I'm going to Ballet West's Sleeping Beauty on Saturday. I am STOKED. 

• Roommate A and I went shopping at the mall together for the first time since living together. I bought awesome teal shoes and 2 new pairs of earrings and a jewelery stand. It was happy times.

• My date for Saturday, Church Boy, is awesome. I've picked a good guy to go to the ballet with me.

• There's a HUGE milestone coming up on this here blog - I'm trying to decide what to do for it.

• My birthday is 3.5 weeks. I am very excited for my birthday party. It is going to be AWESOME.

• I am HAPPY. Seriously. Life is good and I am one happy little girl. 

I am ready for my awesome weekend. It is going to be very awesome. This weekend is forecasted to be the warmest weekend yet to date and I am very much looking forward to some sunshine and happiness. :o) Have a great day peeps!

the last Thursday Things of 2010!

Well dear friends, it's the last Thursday Things of 2010. Hard to believe that the year ends in just one more day. Here are some final thoughts before my recap tomorrow.

• My vacation is almost over. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Virginia. It has been a nice break from reality.
• I will not miss my perpetually cold toes and nose. That has been that least fun part of my trip.
• Tomorrow is New Years Eve. I will spend most of the day on an airplane or in an airport.
• I brought the perfect amount of books with me. I love when I guesstimate correctly how much I'll read.
• I think flirting is fun. Makes me giggle.

Tender Mercy Tuesday

Welcome to the 2nd addition of Tender Mercy Tuesday.

1.  I have been so happy this past week and I know why and that's just been the best tender mercy ever.

2.  Reconnected with a high school friend and it was SO MUCH FUN. We have plans for the future. Basically we're going to take over the world one muppet at a time. :o)

3.  The weather has been so pretty as of late! I wouldn't mind a little bit of snow (mostly because I want to play in it) but I have enjoyed the sunshine!
