Friday Things....

Hey dearest friends! It's been quite the week over here in Alishka land. I've been so busy and trying to get  things done - it's been crazy! I'm very much looking forward to my weekend and the weeks to come...but for now let me express some of my thoughts that are in my head....
  • It's Friday the 13th. EVERY time a Friday the 13th rolls around I can't help but think of that one Friday the 13th in which I tore my MCL.
  • being able to call Soldier Boy my boyfriend is the best thing ever.
  • I burned my finger curling my hair yesterday. My finger still hurts.
  • I love chapstick. It's amazing stuff. I wonder who invented chapstick?
  • Thank you Google.... the inventory of chaptstick
  • I get to go see Ballet West's performance of Emeralds (and Petit Mort and Paquita) this weekend. I'm ridiculously excited!
  • I'm getting very excited for summertime. Soldier Boy and I have lots of fun plans of things we want to do together and with his daughter (hmmm...I might need to give her a 'nym!)
  • I don't think I've told you this yet....but my sister is making me an Aunt at the end of September! I'm really excited to be an aunt and have a cute little niece or nephew to spoil. :o) It will be fun times.
  • There's a family reunion coming up...in July! I'm excited for that fun times. My family is pretty cool and I'm excited to introduce Soldier Boy to them all.
  • I'm trying to decide what to wear to the ballet on Saturday...I'm thinking of a little black dress I have...or my brown skirt w/teal top. We'll see how I feel on Saturday. ;)
  • I'm wishing I could go to Disneyland again. Right now. That would be awesome sauce.
  • I hate taxes - they are retarded.
  • Life is an amazing gift and I feel SO BLESSED right now.

ANYWAYS. I hope all y'all have a great weekend - hopefully this Friday the 13th isn't too crazy for you. ;)

Words on Wednesday

so many words in my head right now.

Life is insane. Not that I would want to lead a boring life, mind you. BUT sometimes I wish it would be not so crazy and would just be....normal. Or something. But what is normal? Is there such a thing as normal? Probably not. Whoever tries to define normal is probably crazy. ;)

Life is hard. Yet again, I wouldn't have it any other way. An easy life? nah. How would one grow with an easy life? So when it comes down to it, a hard life is better than an easy one. In the long run. I'd rather be someone with lots of growth and change in my life then someone who is static and the same for a bazillion years. HOWEVER, this does not mean that I always enjoy the hard life. In fact right now? Right now it sucks.

Life is an adventure. Every day there is something new. Every day there are new things to try, new emotions to feel, new knowledge to internalize. I love this about life. I love adventure and the fact that MY life is an adventure brings me joy.

I need to remember that while life is all of these things - I don't have to go through all of these things by myself. IN FACT Heavenly Father has given me an INCREDIBLE family, the best friends in the world and a future boyfriend that I hope to make my everything.

Yes, life is insane, hard and an adventure, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

BRING LIFE ON!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 53rd Edition

This is my FIRST tender mercy post of the new year! Wow! I didn't realize it had been so long!

I have been really blessed so far at the beginning of this year with good friends, an understanding family and a Heavenly Father who loves me and is willing to guide me through my crazy moments. Answers to prayers are always the best thing, even when you don't necessarily want to hear those answers.

Life keeps on getting more and more exciting and I can't wait to see what is in store for me in the coming months. I'm rather excited about it all. :o)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 52nd Edition

Today's tender mercy comes in the form of my family. I am so blessed to have the family I do. They are the bestest ever.

I have really been enjoying my time here in Virginia. I haven't had to be up at a certain time. We've gotten to play lots of games and get to know the newest edition to our family. There have been movies, lots of good food, and new traditions. My family is just awesome and they make life bearable when times are gray.

I am so thankful for my family and the support they lend to me constantly. I really don't know where I'd be in this life without them. :)

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all are enjoying this wonderful time of year and the time you (hopefully!) get to spend with your families! I know that I am enjoying every. single. minute (all the while missing Monkey Man). Here's a little something that I wanted to share with you that will hopefully put you in the proper mood. Much love!

Friday Things!

Hello my dearest Internet friends! I apologize that it's been several days since I last posted, but with spending a whole day on a plane/in an airport and then enjoying the lack of responsibility that I have right now, I just haven't felt like posting! However, I thought on today, this being Christmas Adam and all, I would leave you with a few things..... :o)

  • Being with my family is awesome. I haven't seen them since my sister's wedding in June and it's great to be able to spend time with them.
  • I am starting to catch up on sleep and it is wonderful. I really love not having to wake up to an alarm clock every day. :o)
  • Having the Brother-in-law around is...different. It definitely makes things more interesting. Not bad, just interesting.
  • I am intrigued to see what happens when there is more than one significant other around here. That will be fun times.
  • I wonder what the coming year will bring. While I had a year full of growth and flourishing - it still feels like I did a lot of the same old same old. I guess that's an adult life for ya....but I still wonder what next year will be like. I'm excited for it to come so I can see. :o)
  • I miss Monkey Man like crazy. When we said goodnight/goodbye on Tuesday night (really early Wednesday morning) I thought that the next 8 days were going to go by SO SLOWLY. But then we were talking last night and I realized just how quickly my vacation was going to come to an end. I think it helps that I'll still have a holiday and a few days before having to go back to real life once I'm back in Utah.
  • Monkey Man got me a great Christmas present: a really pretty brown infinity scarf + black hand warmer things. (like fingerless gloves without the finger parts) He did a great job for the first gift giving-ness in our relationship. ;)
  • I haven't been to the gym since Monday evening...but I'm going later this afternoon AND I am going running with my dad tomorrow morning. So that's good.
  • Virginia is not that cold right now. In fact, when I stepped off the plane it was balmy 63 degrees. I love it. The house is a little cooler than that - it's the way the house was built, but the fact is there is NO snow, NO ice, and NO need for crazy amounts of layers. I am totally okay with this this year. In fact, I prayed for it. ;)
Basically, I am really enjoying my time off and my first real vacation in a LONG, LONG time. I don't really count the week I took off for my sister's wedding or any of the times I took off for other reasons and had a "staycation" as vacation. This is my first REAL vacation in a year and boy, do I deserve it! I hope you all have the best Christmas weekend ever! I'll be in touch...eventually. ;)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Thursday Things - Thanksgiving Edition

I have so many wonderful things to be thankful for this beautiful Thanksgiving Day. Here are just a few things that I am grateful for today:

  • My family - they are have always been supportive of me and my dreams and for that I will be eternally grateful.
  • The restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I seriously don't know where I'd be in my life without it.
  • My sweet boyfriend. I was not feeling well last night, at all, and he took time from his busy schedule to bring me chicken noodle soup and sit and just hold me. After he left I felt tons better. He's amazing and I am the luckiest girl in the world to call Monkey Man mine.
  • My jobs. I work for the best company by day and do what I love by night. Not very many people are as lucky as I am in that regard and I feel so blessed to be able to do it all.
  • My church calling. As hard as it can be sometimes to be over so many people and have so many responsibilities, I love it. I love the joy that comes from being able to serve those around me.
  • My apartment and roommates. I live with the best girls in a great apartment. I am so glad that I found this place 2.5 years ago.
  • Technology and other comforts that come from living in the 21st century. I am very blessed to live in this day and age.
I really am so very blessed in so many different ways. I hope each of you will take some time today to be thankful for everything you have been given. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

it's official

I'm twitterpated.

You're all probably going, "um....duh Alishka. You've been twitterpated for weeks now."

And this is true...but it's a much deeper twitterpation.

You see, the more time I spend with Monkey Man the more I discover all the great and wonderful things about him. I wouldn't even know where to start in telling you everything that I enjoy about him. I am loving where our relationship is right now and really enjoy having someone call me theirs.

In fact, last night someone said, "I need to find myself an Alishka," and Monkey Man said, "well you can't have this one, she's taken." It was so sweet! sigh. He's just so wonderful and I feel so blessed to have him in my life right now.

We had a very low key weekend, but it was so much fun. I am really looking forward to spending lots of time with him this week. There's volleyball night, dinner with his family, (oh yeah, did I mention that I am eating Thanksgiving dinner w/his family on Thursday night? Well, I am. I'm rather nervous about it) movie night, basketball (maybe) and possibly ice skating and bowling. We'll see about those last two. :o) It's going to be a great week! I'm so excited!!

Hope all of you had a great weekend! :o) Have a lovely Monday.

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 45th Edition

I was so sad to have missed Tender Mercy Tuesday last week, but I'm back this week! I have had a good past couple of weeks filled with so many different tender mercies that it is hard to pick which one(s) to share with you.

Let me start with last week - Last week we had Stake Conference and it was the most wonderful thing. It was exactly what I needed that weekend and it lifted my spirits and answered questions for me in my life.

My other tender mercy comes from last night. I had to make a decision whether or not to spend some one-on-one time with Monkey Man and most likely stay up late OR go to the gym and get to bed at a decent hour. I had told myself when I got into a relationship again that I didn't want to drop things that I like to do (like going to the gym) just to hang out with my significant other. However, last night I felt like it would be more beneficial to me AND my relationship with Monkey Man if I stayed and hung out with him.

BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Even though I only got 4.5 hours of sleep last night (i know, i know), the benefits of getting to be with Monkey Man were TOTALLY worth it. We watched a movie and after the movie was over, Monkey Man and I sat talking for over an hour and I learned so many things and got to know him even more and I found something out - he's committed to me. I mean, he didn't SAY those words exactly, but we were talking about the holidays and things coming up and Monkey Man told me he'd go to my work Christmas party w/me (we got our save the dates yesterday) and he's already put into his phone when I'm going to be gone to see my family. He told me he'd love it if I took him to DC someday, we're going to do something on New Year’s, he put my birthday in his phone...etc etc. And while that is just a whole bunch of little things that could or could not happen it's a BIG deal to me, because I’ve had past boyfriends that don’t like to commit to things in the future. Lots of guys feel that way. They don’t like to plan for things to far in advance just in case “it doesn't work out.”  I HATED that about those guys (or guys who would never plan ANYTHING *cough Grizzly Bear cough*.) Because, so what if we're not together THEN at least commit now and show me that I'm important to you! And Monkey Man did that. He hinted about meeting his family (well...warned me that I had no idea what they were like yet...and then kind of told me about them. It was fun) Also, he just....is amazing. I could tell when we were talking and discussing things that he cares about me and he wants to plan on spending time with me, and I love that so much. So there you go. A little insight to my current relationship, and while we haven't sat down and had a "DTR," I feel like I know where things stand based off of his actions and to me that is much better than any kind of DTR conversation we could have right now. :o)

Basically, I'm happy. Monkey Man and I are dating and it's so great. It's gone so smoothly and effortlessly that I can't help but wonder what is in store for us in the future. It's just GOOD and I like it.

Have a great Tuesday y'all!

Tender Mercy Tuesdsay - 41st Edition

This is going to be quick because I am uber busy and swamped at work, plus my external activities have me stressed to the nines (you DID see my crazy schedule yesterday right? if not, it explains everything. Look below.) Anyways, I was at Family Home Evening last night with people from my ward and we went to our stake's Family History Library. There we learned about the importance of Indexing and how to do it. Now, I already knew how to do it and after Elder Bednar's talk on the importance of it, I knew I wanted to recommit to doing it more frequently. Well, last night I did a batch while at the library and I plan on doing at least one batch a month. I can handle that, right? It was so calming, relaxing, and spiritually uplifting for me that I really need to remember to be doing it on a more regular basis.

And today, that's MY tender mercy.

Also, because I LOVE Chelsea and I haven't participated in Ten on Tuesday in AGES I thought I would take the time to do it today. ( I know, I know, I said this was going to be quick) I couldn't pass it up because it is the 100th week of T o T!!! (You should totally go participate. T o T is so much fun!)

1. How do you take your coffee?
I don't drink coffee. In fact, I don't even really like the smell of it. :P

2. Do you prefer soft or crispy chocolate chip cookies?
straight out of the oven - ooey, gooey, mess of a cookie. That's the best way to eat a chocolate chip cookie, in my opinion.

3. Do you wear a belt everyday?
Not at all. I've recently been converted to more  belting of various types...but I by no means wear one every day. There is only one pair of jeans that I really like wearing a belt with, other than that it's no belt.

4. What is your favorite color combination?
hmmm...I love the look of cider/burnt orange with just about anything. Also, I love Black + Red and Pink + Teal or Green. sigh...I just like color.

5. Do you like sour candy?
I love it. I thrived on it as a kid. The Lemon war heads? Yeah...I could totes handle those w/out puckering. :o)

6. How often do you do laundry?
usually every 7-10 days. It depends on if I need something that's dirty or not. I don't love doing laundry.

7. Did you ever wear braces?
nope. should i have? probably. Will I? Probably not.

8. Are you good at Roman Numerals?
yes, actually. I am. Once, when I was in D.C. with my dad and brother we saw this old building with a ton of Roman Numerals on the outside and I totally figured out what year the building was built. I rock.

9. What is your favorite form of social media?
hmmm. This is hard. I really only use blogging, Twitter and Facebook. Sometimes I love Twitter more than Facebook, but I have more friends on Facebook.

10. How do you feel about chin dimples?
um...cheek ones are cuter, but dimples are dimples yo.

Tender Mercy Tuesdsay - 28th Edition

Hi there. It's been a long weekend. Full of fun in the sun, fun with friends, fun with family, and fun with boys. I promise to give you a full recap later - I'm sure you want to hear about all the fun fun fun fun I had...in the meantime I want to take a moment and be thankful for how well my Heavenly Father knows me.

See...even with all the fun I had this weekend I struggled with a few things emotionally. Mainly related to past relationships and where things could have been if we were still together. I don't really want to go in to a lot of detail because it's not needed. I've worked through the emotional angst and I know that I'll be okay, but that doesn't mean that this weekend wasn't hard. One of the harder ones I've had to be honest.

However, Heavenly Father knows me SO WELL that he made sure I had friends who made plans with me, family who called ME and asked me to spend the holiday with THEM and basically HE made sure that I had a well of support around me through all my hard moments. It made getting through my thoughts and emotions that much easier because I had people I could talk to who understood where I was coming from right then.  How grateful I am for that tender mercy.

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 25th Edition

Today is the best Tuesday. Today I am in the temple with my little sister, her fiance and my parents. What a happy and glorious time! I love going to the temple and this opportunity to be in the temple with 2/3rds of my family is a great blessing. I can't wait for the day when my whole family gets to be in the temple together. What a great and glorious day that will be!!

things for a Thursday

I have always really, really liked Thursdays. There is something about a Thursday and knowing that your weekend is JUST about here that makes my heart happy. :o) Anyways, my mind is overwhelmed with several thoughts...so here we go! things for a Thursday!
  • There is exactly one week until Sister B's wedding. Hard to believe it's finally upon us!
  • There are 9 days until the show. GAH! I need to finish rat costumes!!
  • I got my hairs did last night. I'm very happy with how they turned out!
  • I also got super cute green glitter toes! Makes my heart happy!
  • I only have the work day today + the work day tomorrow and 2.5 ballet classes between me and what is probably going to be the BUSIEST week of 2011.
  • I am singing a solo in church in 10 days. I'm a tad nervous.
  • I changed my audition song for Aida....I'm a much happier person with the new audition song.
  • oh yeah, I'm auditioning for Aida. Yes, it's the same week as EVERYTHING else in my life, but I REALLY want to be in Aida!
  • I get to see my family in 4 days!! WOO HOO!!!
  • I have a lunch date with Percy tomorrow. :o) I'm excited for that!!
  • Have you seen the Google homepage today? It is awesome-sauce. Love it.
I feel like there are about 100 other things that I've been meaning to tell you...but I just can't think of any of them right now. sigh. oh well! Have a great Thursday peeps!

First of June

Can you believe that it is already the first of June? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it! Since SO MANY things are happening in the month of June and I feel like I haven't given you a really good, meaty boy update, this post is going to be a hodgepodge of everything awesome that has happened, will happen and should happen in the next short while.

HERE WE GO!

First! Some countdowns!
  • There are 15 days until Sister B's wedding. I finished the centerpieces this weekend. Shoes have been procured. All that's left is to find a cuter white shirt, finish the guest book and finalize/purchase food for the reception. I can't believe the wedding is here.
  • There are 17 days until the end-year recital: Sleeping Beauty by AofB. I am so excited for my students to perform! They have been working SO HARD and they look so extremely polished. Makes my heart happy and proud.
  • In 12 days my family will be here! The whole family hasn't been in Utah since they moved to Virginia. I'm excited to have them be here, even if it's just for a short little while.
  • In one week I'm getting my hairs did. Have to look all cutes and stuff for the wedding. ha!
  • In 18 days I'm singing a solo in church. I'm just a tad bit nervous about it. I practiced w/the choir for the first time on Sunday and it was a little scary. Here's hoping I don't croak or something.
  • I only have 7 work days until I start my week long "vacation." (Is it really going to be a vacation? Probably not.)
Second! Some updates on boys!
  • Leviticus: We are still friends! We ended up at a mutual friend's BBQ on Monday and it was fun to see him and chat and such. We haven't been out in a few weeks, but he's so nice and helpful and such. A great friend truly.
  • The Australian: After him telling me we couldn't "date" right now and just with life and what not he and I hadn't hung out in a long time. We decided to hang out this past weekend - and it sort of was like a date. He took me to P.F. Chang's and convinced me to try shrimp. It was a weird texture, but pretty good otherwise. Anywho, after that we watched Willow on my couch and enjoyed cuddling. That boy sure knows how to cuddle. I'm not sure if this means anything. Knowing him it doesn't. Pretty much I'm just enjoying him and our friendship. :-)
  • Percy: He's the boy I mentioned here as a new "interest." After playing 2 rounds of phone tag we finally connected on the phone on Monday afternoon. He talks just as cute as he writes. He seems very genuine and that makes me happy.  We're going out to lunch on Friday (which is perfect since it's my day off!) and I'm rather stoked to see him in person. Now I just need to decide what to wear....
  • Grizzly Bear: So named because we clicked while at FHE last week at the Bean Museum while next to the bears. Ha! Also, he reminds me of a teddy bear. :o) Grizzly Bear and I texted most of the weekend, I said hi to him at church and have basically been my flirty, cute self. We watched Gnomeo & Juliet last night and snuggled on his couch. He walked me to my car, kissed me on the cheek and sent me on my way. He's already determined that we should hang out again and I agreed. No plans yet, but it will be fun regardless I'm sure. :-)
Third! A cute little something that I am liking this sunny, Wednesday afternoon. Loves!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 18th Edition

Hi there guys. I'm a little out of it today. I sort of somehow missed all my alarms this morning (I remember snoozing twice...) and didn't get out of bed until 6:45am. This is when I leave for work. Needless to say I was ten minutes late and very groggy. I've been so out of it all day long, it's a miracle anything has been achieved!

Anywho...I'm here with my Tender Mercy for ya.

I have been slacking a little bit in writing my tender mercies in my journal, so I had a really hard time remembering something to share with you today - and then it hit me. I have been so blessed to have technology. It is probably the one thing I'm not always publicly grateful. However, think about it! The blessings of technology abound in my every day life. The fact that I even have an alarm that doesn't require a plug or a sunrise to be used. I have multiple ways to communicate with my family - INSTANTLY! Just last night as I was watching the news, a guy was using Skype to report on a meeting in China - from China! Live! It was incredible. I really don't think about it enough, but technology blesses my life in multiple ways multiple times a day.

What has been your tender mercy this week?

Quarterly Review

Hello again my dear readers. I know I didn't mention that I was going to do this, in fact I just decided a few weeks ago that I should do this - but I am conducting my own personal Quarterly Review on my Word of the Year progress.

I hope you've noticed the ever present reminder of my word of the year to the right -----> I have programed that nifty little button to take you to any post that I have labeled as one where I am flourishing. I just took some time earlier this month to go through and see what I have done and remind myself of my goals.

I already know that there are changes to my goals. I didn't make it to Disneyland for my birthday - and I know I WANT to go, I'm just not sure when yet. Also, I'm thinking I won't be attending the Dance Teacher's Summit. I really want to, but with my sister getting married in June and all the time I'm taking off then, I'm not sure I'll want to take that much time off this summer. We'll see. I'm still keeping it as a possibility. for sure. :o)

I had the wonderful experience of attending the temple for the first time and doing my own temple work. I wrote about what I felt like I could share here.

In other news - I have found SO MUCH HAPPINESS within myself. I feel as if my heart has healed. I've been dating like crazy and taking risks right and left. I feel more whole than I have in a long time and for this I am so grateful.

Honest to goodness, life is GOOD right now. While there are certainly things that I wish I had in my life - I know that I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am doing RIGHT NOW. This is THE BEST feeling a girl can have, in my opinion anyways.

Pointe Counterpointe

Alrighty guys. Two weeks from today I am making my (big) comeback!! I am performing in Academy of Ballet's gala show - Pointe Counterpionte.

This performance is on January 31st and February 1st at 7pm. Yes, I know it is a Monday/Tuesday which is a little odd...but it doesn't mean you can't come! Dates can be ANY night of the week! Or better still, bring your FHE group/family. :o)

Anyways. Details. You can purchase tickets through the Covey Center's website, go to their office, or give them a holler on the telephone. Tickets are $8 for the balcony and $10 for the Mezzanine/Floor. If you are a student/senior, you get $2 off.

Now, you might be asking why you should come to this performance in downtown cougartown at the end of the month.  Let me give you 5 REALLY good reasons.
  1. You get to see me perform on stage for the first time in 2+ years. The piece I am in is amazing. It's a director's piece and we've been working so hard on it. So come.
  2. You get to see my amazing contemporary piece. This piece is really cool. Seriously, it's one of the coolest things I have ever choreographed. It was hard for me to choreograph and VERY much outside of my box - but it's turned out so cool!
  3. It is not ALL ballet! In fact there are quite a few contemporary, modern, and jazz pieces in the show!
  4. You also get to see my take on the classic Waltz of the Flowers dance. Shorter than the original, this piece is just aesthetically pleasing.
  5. Did I mention you get to see me dance? I am really excited about this and I would love to have a TON of friends come and support me. Especially seeing how my family lives so far away these days.
So there you go. 5 pretty darn good reasons why you should plan on attending Pointe Counterpointe this year. I hope you come! :o)

Dating Battle Stories: Sweetums - Part Two

{artwork by Roommate A}

Before we get started, I just want to point out to all you feed reader peoples that I changed my background. I haven't done this in a long time, mostly because I loved that cute little owl! However, I just decided I was bored with him. What do you think?

And now, as I am sure you have all been waiting on pins and needles for this, I bring you Part Two of the Recap on Sweetums. (make sure you've read Part One, or this is going to make NO sense whatsoever.)

So as I got on the plane to fly to Virginia - utterly exhausted mind you - I was very happy. I don't think things could have gone any better than they did. Sweetums and I didn't talk for several days (beyond a happy holidays text to each other) but that makes sense seeing as how we were both spending time with family - and there is a two hour time difference. We did talk about two days before I flew back to Utah and he asked some specifics on how I was getting home from the airport, what time would I land, etc.

When I landed in Utah and turned my phone back on I found a couple of text messages - one from Roommate R (who was picking me up) and one from Sweetums. He told me to give him call after I landed. So...I called him. Sweetums told me that I should gcome down to Elk Ridge where he was hanging out with Mighty Mouse and his wife, (you can search mighty mouse on my blog, i have mentioned him a few times and I used to have a huge crush on him a long time ago) SC and his wife (yes, the famous SC from this post) and SC's family. I agree to meet him down there - so off I go. It was an adventure getting to SC's parent's house - but I eventually made it.  Sweetums met me in the driveway and walked me inside. I met several new people, said hello to the people I knew and sat down to play some games.

Then...it was time to ring in the new year. We stood up to countdown and Sweetums and I are standing right next to each other. As the clock struck midnight and we yell Happy New Year, our married friends celebrated with a kiss and Sweetums put his arm around me. He leaned in and whispered in my ear, "this doesn't change anything, but it is tradition" and then he kissed me. I have to say, I was very pleased with his tactic. I had thought earlier that day while sitting in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport for four hours that I would be okay with a New Years kiss, but I wasn't sure how to convey that to Sweetums. Luckily, he must have thought about it as well seeing as how he went about it that night. :o) It was a very sweet kiss - a very good first kiss in my opinion. I'm not going to lie, after kissing someone for 2+ years I was a little worried about kissing someone new, but I am no longer worried about that. :)

{this is pretty much how that kiss went down... :o) }
After that - I tried sushi (yes, I tried sushi. I wasn't a fan of the texture, but the flavor was good.) and then SC and wife, Mighty Mouse and wife, and Sweetums and I left to go to SC and wife's house. We had so much fun making jokes, laughing SUPER hard, playing scum and just generally hanging out. We stayed up until 3:30 in the morning at which point we all went out to our cars. I'd started my car a few minutes earlier so it would be warm, but Sweetums hadn't. So while his car was heating up, he sat in my car and we talked. We talked about everything under the sun. I shared some secrets with him, we talked about how we still planned on moving slow, we talked about the weather...you name it, I'm pretty sure we talked about it. I don't remember everything we talked about, mostly because by this point I had been up for 24+ hours. (having to leave my parent's house at 6:45a to get to the airport before our flight. ugh.) By the time Sweetums and I finally decided to call it a day and I drove myself home - it was 6 am. I was up for 26 straight hours. Crazy eh? I went to sleep and then spent the day with Roommate A, her boyfriend, and The Australian.

Since then Sweetums and I have talked a couple of times and have made plans to make plans. ha ha. His schedule is still being finalized, but once it has then we'll probably end up doing stuff. :o)

So there you go. My adventures with Sweetums are now up-to date. In fact, all of my Dating Battle Stories are up to date! I will have a new update after this weekend seeing as how I have my first date with the Blindman on Friday. :o) Woo hoo! Have a great day y'all!

Dating Battle Stories: Mad Dog

Time for another Dating Battle Stories Recap!!!  Today's receap is all about my great guy friend, Mad Dog.  Some of you might recognize the name Mad Dog, and not just from the introductions I did at Christmastime. Mad Dog and I met swing dancing about 2ish years ago. I went to his birthday party once.

Anyways, shortly after SwingKid broke up with me Mad Dog and I were conversing on Facebook. (sidenote: I do a lot of chatting with friends on Facebook, but this doesn't mean that I am on Facebook ALL THE TIME. ok? ok.) Anyways, because I didn't make a big to-do about my sudden single-ness he hadn't heard the news. I told him and we talked like friends tend to do. He's an awesome friend and a few days later sent me a text.  We texted back and forth a little bit and it ended with him asking me if I'd like to go hot tubbing with him at his place. Would I ever! I agreed and a time was set upon and I drove over to his place to begin our adventure.

Unfortunately, hot tubbing wasn't meant to be as the hot tub was broken because some dork put detergent in it. Don't ask me why someone would do that...it's just mean. Mad Dog and I chilled in his apartment talking about stuff and ended up watching Inception with his roommate. It was a fun evening and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. (later that night I ended up hanging out with the Australian it was a very late night.)

About a week later - just a few days before I flew to see my family - I invited Mad Dog over to watch a movie at my place. We watched some awful movie with a very young Jude Law in it. That was the only good part about the movie. It was awful.

Mad Dog is a very big flirt. Which tends to work well for me, because I am a very big flirt as well. :o) It always leads to fun times. He's also extremely ticklish. One of the most ticklish guys I know! That is also great because I am so ticklish and I don't think it's fair when I try to retaliate and boys just sit and stare at me. sigh.

Anyways. Mad Dog and I chatted a little bit while I was in Virginia and when I got back we decided to hang out! So the first Sunday in January he came over to my place and we talked, watched Anastasia and just chilled in my living room.

Mad Dog is a great friend and I am SO GLAD he and I can hang out and stuff. It makes my heart happy to have a friend to do things with. I'm sure he'll make a few more appearances in this segment....but we'll wait and see.

just wanna say

I feel really blessed right now. After all that has happened in my life, at this very moment I feel closer to being on the path that Heavenly Father wants me to be on then at any other time in my life.  I am so very blessed with friends and family who love me and who take the time to show me they love me. I hope that I can somehow return the favor.

Have a wonderful sabbath everyone.
