Thursday Things

Hey all. Look at me! Posting TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!! I'm so awesome. :o)

It's THURSDAY (which I love) so that means....

YAY!!!! Let's get this party started, shall we? :o)
  • I'm not going dancing tonight at the normal Blue Tango venue, but instead plan on spending a relaxing evening with Soldier Boy, his daughter, and my wonderful swimming pool. :o)
  • I don't think I've told you, but if we're pinterest friend you've noticed...I'm the chairperson for the Annual Company Family Picnic. I LOVE the family picnic and am SO EXCITED to be heading it up. We're having a Western themed evening/carnival with a Chili Cook-Off that should be fun times. :o)
  • School is starting and that means there are back-to-school sales EVERYWHERE. It makes me wish *I* was going back to school so I could justify buying fun things. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY happy to be not in school. I just wish I could justify buying things....
  • I have grand plans for my day off tomorrow. I am (fingers crossed!) going to have NO MORE BOXES to unpack by the end of tomorrow/this weekend. Good goal right? :o)
  • Soldier Boy is taking me out on a date! on Saturday! granted, we tend to do things that could be classified as dates...but this is a for real, planned for, paid for, paired off date. :o) Just like Elder Oaks defined it. :o) I'm SUPER EXCITED. (It's all a surprise, but I'm 99% sure we're going to the cheesecake factory.)
  • So...I may have mentioned that I'm maybe getting into audio books? but I'm not sure yet...ANYWAYS. the point of this bullet is to ask for suggestions for books to listen to...i know not every book is perfect for audio reading, so which ones are your favorites?
anyways, i think that's all folks...hopefully your weekend is as splenderific as mine. :o) I'm hoping to get in a trip the Gardner's Village farmer's market...but we'll see. CIAO!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 61st Edition

So, sometimes I get overwhelmed. (who doesn't, right?) The amount of sticky notes on my desk at work, the pile of laundry in the corner of my bedroom, the knowledge of knowing that I'm moving but I don't know WHERE to yet, and the beginnings of packing up my entire house for said move are just a few of the things that are weighing me down right now.

That's just the tip of the iceberg folks. :P Luckily, I have some amazing people in my life that remind me that those things don't matter in the eternal scheme of things and really, having faith that everything is going to work out is the most important thing of all. I've studied, read, and been in several meetings in the past two weeks where faith has been taught/discussed. I think the Lord has been trying to remind me that I need to continue on. I'm not going to get all the answers right away, but I will get them when the time is right.

I was reminded of this again last night when reading Ether 12 with Soldier Boy. What amazing things faith can help you do...if you but believe. So that's what I'm doing. I'm moving on with worrying about life and I'm just going to trust and believe and have FAITH that everything is going to work out perfectly.

And in the meantime I might eat a lot of brownies. ;) lol. Have a great Tuesday y'all!

surprises, Don Quixote, flowers, and fun, flirty times

I am sure that you are all waiting with baited breath to hear about my reunion with Solider Boy and the fantastic weekend that followed.

Well, if you are that person then you are in luck because I am here to tell you all about my most amazing weekend.

Thursday night was GREAT. I got to see Solider Boy, exchange valentines, and dance the night away. It was SO NICE to see him again. I was reminded of how much I really do like this boy that is in my life. He is amazing and so very kind to me. He gave me a book with the sweetest of inscriptions written inside. I felt loved. :o)

Friday I had a few surprises. #1 - Soldier Boy visited me during lunch because he hadn't gone home yet. #2 - He ended up being around for the afternoon as well so after I got off of work I got to see him some more. #3 - He actually didn't go home until LATE Friday night/early Saturday morning because he was around with a friend of his and then he came and saw me. :o) It was most wonderful.

Then there was Saturday. I took my own sweet time getting ready, and was glad for it. I looked gorgeous. I felt like a pretty princess in my dress (pictures coming, promise!) and my hair turned out quite perfectly. Soldier Boy loved my hair. Also, Roommate A did my makeup and she did a stunning job. I loved the look she gave me. Soldier Boy and I met in SLC and then went to dinner at the Blue Iguana. I LOVED my dish! I got the beef tacos and that beef was absolutely amazing. Soldier Boy got the Chocolate Mole and he also enjoyed his dish. Mmmmm...my mouth is watering thinking about that beef. It was delicious. I think my favorite part about dinner was the cute couple that owned the restaurant that came around serenading everyone. They were amazing and it was so nice to have someone sing to us while we ate.

THEN there was the ballet: Don Quixote. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING. Ballet West did the most amazing job Saturday night. They dancing was incredible, the dancers played their characters PERFECTLY and thoroughly and THEN there was the flamenco at the beginning of Act 3. Oh my goodness. It was INCREDIBLE! I loved it! They only used the sound of a stick keeping time back stage and the stomping of their feet/clapping of their hands. There wasn't a single misstep or moment where they weren't together. I was much impressed. Kitri was incredible and did stunning things with her extensions and turns. Sigh. It was wonderful.

One of my favorite things was that not only did I have a surprise for Solider Boy that night (his boutonniere) but he had a surprise for me! He got me a corsage! Ha. It was so funny that we had the same thought for that night. My corsage was beautiful and featured a main  white rose with three small roses with it. It also had a silvery sparkly ribbon. I loved it and felt so fancy with a wrist corsage to go with my dress. Soldier Boy knows me SO WELL and it was great that we matched being all fancy and dressed up and what not. :-)

After the ballet we ended up sitting in his car just talking. We had the BEST conversation. It was exactly what we both needed and several things were mentioned that we both needed to hear. It was good times. Then, because we hadn't had enough of each other at this point in the weekend, we talked on the phone while we drove home - it was great.

Then there was yesterday. (whew, this is getting long. Good thing you all want to know all the details huh? lol) Yesterday Soldier Boy came down for Sunday dinner with Sister B + Husband. We had a really fantastic roast w/potatoes, green salad and homemade rolls with Hot Fudge Sundae cake for dessert. mmmm....It was SO GOOD. We played a long round of Killer Bunnies (sometimes that game is short and sometimes not, but it was GREAT fun.) There was much laughter, tons of flirting and cards that made my night 100% worth it. After Sister B + Husband left, Solider Boy and I enjoyed reading on the couch together, watching videos of me drugged from my knee surgery, and just talking. I stayed up too late and seeing as how I don't have today off - I'm feeling a little tired, but it was such a great weekend that I'm totally fine with it. The great news is that Soldier Boy is going to be in SLC basically all weekend so I get to spend some extra time with him and that is going to make me one happy camper. :-D

I hope your weekend was FANTASTIC!

Random Thursday Things

Here we are guys. Another Thursday. This week has felt rather long and arduous to me, but maybe that's just me. I'm rather excited that it is the weekend and I'm even more excited because fun things are happening. Let's get this party started shall we?
  • I'm leaving early tomorrow afternoon to drive to St. George with Chilly and friends to go see The Little Mermaid at Tuachan. I am SO freakin' excited for this! I have been looking forward to this event ever since I purchased my ticket. woo hoo!
  • I am also looking forward to getting some much needed sleep. I have been so exhausted this week and Alishka needs her beauty sleep!
  • My trainer....is insane. He is kicking my trash. BUT I like it. Not going to lie. He's fabulous. I did my very first bench press yesterday. Granted, all I lifted was the bar (45lbs) and not even by myself, BUT! I did it!!! I feel really cool now. :o)
  • The General Relief Society Broadcast is this weekend. I LOVE this broadcast. It always rocks my world. (someone else that I just discovered blogged about this too...her blog is AWESOME. go read!)
  • I have noticed the leaves changing on the mountains...I think it is time to take a drive up the canyon! woo hoo!
  • I am in a mood of anything fall. I think I need to make some fall-type foods and desserts. mmmm...yup.
  • Remember how I was doing my challenge? Yeah. It is going SO well. I feel like I have more time to get things done and I don't just lounge around and read tv. Also, this will help me to read more.
  • I have been in a slight reading slump lately and as I visited Angie last night I picked up the randomest collection of books to read in the next few weeks. Definitely in a weird little reading mood.
  • I have a new favorite band - Florence and the Machine. I realize they aren't that new, but I have recently discovered a love of their music.
  • Also, I discovered this blog one day and totally went through and did the suggested things to my closet, MINUS a true remixing of outfits. I think I'm actually going to do a 30 for 30 Remix Challenge. I won't have prizes or anything, but I think I'll do it here - publicly showing my outfits and such. Maybe starting in October? Thoughts? Anyone want to tackle said challenge with me?
I think that's it for now. Wow. So many things happening and going through my mind! I'm pretty sure I missed a few things...but I'm tired of thinking.

Tender Mercy Tuesday: 38th Edition

So, today's Tender Mercy directly relates to my challenge post yesterday. I didn't turn on the TV yesterday. AT ALL. I was tempted to, but I never did. Instead, I read a book. Yup, one book in its entirety. I didn't plan on staying up late last night, in fact, I WANTED to get to bed early, but instead I stayed up reading  this really good book entitled, "Birth Marked" by Caragh M. O'Brien. Now, right now I'm wishing I had gone to bed and not stayed up to finish reading sid book, but at the same time I'm really glad I did. Here's the reason why: I feel completely justified in living up to my challenge this week. See, last week I would have just turned on the TV in the evening and probably stayed up just as late, but just laying around watching some random show. INSTEAD, after I got out of my shower from my workout I read a good book. I need to read more good books. I forget how much I love to read until I start doing it after a dry spell. So this is me, committed to my challenge and hoping it continues to bless my life like it did last night. :o)

In other news - I did assisted pull-ups on the Assisted Pull-up machine. I really liked that part of my circuit last night. :o) I don't think I mentioned it, but I got a gym trainer with my gym. He's great. He's really pushing me to become a better me and that makes me excited. :o)

And finally, I saw this today on Pinterest and I have decided that it is going to be my motto for the rest of the year. I think it pairs nicely with my word of the year. ;)

a sleepy Thursday

Dearest internet friends, I am so excited that it is Thursday! Let's do this thing and get through my muddled thoughts shall we?
  • First off, I was a stupid girl last night and started a new book - Unsticky by Sarra Manning. You know it's a good book when you stay up reading for 2.5 hours and get half way through. I'm dying right now because 1) I'm sleep deprived and 2) the book is at home and I'm at work. TORTURE!
  • We only have TWO more performances of AIDA. I'm going to be sad to see the show end, but at the same time I'll be glad to have some sense of normalcy in my life. If normal is even possible. :o)
  • Speaking of AIDA, we had a SOLD OUT audience at BYU last night. It was INCREDIBLE. They were an amazing audience that laughed, clapped, cheered, etc. It was so great.
  • I am totally rocking the 21 Day Challenge. Day 4's challenge is Color Blocking. I realized while putting this outfit together that my only really colorful, solid colored bottoms (skirts, pants, short, etc) are skirts. I don't really have brightly colored bottoms - mostly neutrals. So, even though I've worn a skirt the past two days, making today day three (I promise I do wear pants!) I chose the following outfit:

    {skirt: thrifted, jacket/shirt: modbe outlet tank: downeast}
The colors are a lot brighter than this picture shows. I couldn't get a good picture no matter how I tried, and seeing as how I got ready for work in like ten minutes this morning, I just didn't have time to try to get a better picture. oh well. The skirt is a bright pink and the top a bright spring green. The top was only $5 at the Modbe outlet center in Springville. Love that place. All in all, I'm counting today as a success!
  • I've had two of my guy friends in the past 24 hours tell me that I look really good these  days and that they both think I've lost weight. I think they're smoking something because I actually feel the grossest I've felt since my sister's wedding....but still, it is nice to get complimented.
  • This weekend is turning out to be quite busy. After closing night on Friday there's a combined ward campout with the neighboring ward in our stake. I'm not sure I'm going to go over to it at all....but I might. I also plan on being girly this weekend and treating myself to a mani/pedi because man alive do I need one!!
  • Also this weekend, I have a third date with Blindman2. I think he needs a new name....I'll think of something one of these days. We're actually going out on our own, without our mutual friends of Truit and Truit's husband. While I love Truit and her husband, I'm excited for it to just be me and BM2 (maybe I'll just abbreviate it?) so we can better get to know each other and see how things flow. Also... this date got set up a month ago because our schedules just weren't gellin'. The anticipation for this date has been killing me.
  • Percy and I continue to have a conflict of schedules...I think we're going to shoot for sometime next week.
  • I have such great guy friends! The Australian came last night with his sister and friend from Japan to my musical. It was SO GOOD to see him, since I haven't seen him since rehearsals started with the musical two months ago. Basically, I love The Australian and seeing him made me happy.
  • What else do I need to tell you.....oh! Ballet classes start today. I have a sub for my class tonight because of AIDA at BYU. I'm sort of sad that I have to have a sub for my first company class....but oh well. It will be all good later.
  • Also, just because I feel like you need to know: Peanut Butter M&Ms combined with Dark Chocolate M&Ms is the BEST combination in the whole wide world!! If you know what's good for you, you'll trust me when I tell you to go by a bag of each and put them together in your mouth. You can thank me later.
  • I want cupcakes SOOOO bad  right now. I have a Groupon for the Sweet Tooth Fairy and I think I might need to cash that in this weekend. :o)
Well....I think that's all for now folks. I hope your Thursday goes splendidly. :o) Cheerio!
