it's Thursday - and you know what that means, it's time for (bum de bum!)

Hurray Thursday Things!!! So without further ado...here we go!

• I have one goal for this weekend and that is to live the quote above - enjoy the small things. I am a firm believer that small things effect our lives a lot more than the big things. I've learned this lesson the hard way so this weekend - it's all about the small things baby.

• I asked Tron to go to a ballet in Bountiful that Dr. Teeth is performing in; however, Tron is going to be out of town and can't go. :( I did however ask a guy in my ward that is totally awesome and it should be fun times!

• I don't work tomorrow and I am just SO EXCITED I just CAN'T WAIT! woo hoo! It will be a fun day filled with a temple trip with Sister B, an elementary school performance for my students, a night of RPG playing with my friends and hopefully me taking a ballet class. :o)

• I finally got myself back to the gym this week after a week and a half hiatus. That hiatus was bad news bears guys. It has been SO HARD getting myself back to the gym. I need to never not go again.

• The next two weeks are going to be SUPER busy but TONS of fun. I can't go into great detail here because some of the things happening are SURPRISES and peeps who read this blog are on the receiving end of the surprises. So....you all can just be surprised together after stuff happens! woot!

• Longer days are upon us and springy weather is coming! What is also coming is the start of Daylight Savings Time and I hate this with all my heart and I am not looking forward to losing an hour of sleep. bah humbug.

Thoisday

Well hello Thoisday! You're my favorite, you know that right? I feel like you kind of snuck up on me and part of thinks that it is supposed to be Wednesday. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad that you are here. Means this week has flown by. Let's take a look at a few things shall we?

• I went to the dentist for the first time in several years yesterday. I really like my dentist. He's very personable and a great guy. I'm very happy going there (which is good since I don't like going to the dentist)

• I knew I had a whole in one tooth so I have to get a crown on Monday. Great way to spend a day off huh? Oh well. C'est la vie

• I have a date tomorrow with a guy from the internets (the super cute one I mentioned 2 weeks ago). I'll give him a 'nym later if I think it's going to go anywhere.

• Remember my word of the year? Yeah, I'm totally rocking it out. Love 2011.

• I know I haven't told you anything about how the Ballet West date went. I'll work on that and give it to you soon, I promise. The story is a doozy.

• I started planning my birthday party. It is going to ROCK hard core.

• I've been drinking lots of water lately. This means I go to the bathroom a lot. :o)

• I need to go to the grocery store. I don't have time to go to the grocery store. This is a problem.

• I saw Dr. Teeth last night. It was great.

• Life is good. :o)

When cleaning your room gets to be the "fun" thing you do on a Friday night

Today is the First Friday of the new year. I love Fridays. They make my heart oh so happy! I just wish I had today off. :o( Oh well. I am also sitting her wishing I had fun and amazing plans for my Friday night. Unfortunately for me, I've got nothing. I desperately need to clean my room seeing how I've barely been home a week and I still have piles of Christmas presents and dirty clothes in the corners of my room. Sigh. Since when did cleaning your room become the "fun" thing to do? sigh.

Anyways. There are few things that I wanted to blog about today. The first one being - my birthday! I love my birthday. It is a holiday all about me! At least....I like to think of it that way. :o) Today marks the 2 month countdown until my birthday. 2 months people! In 2 months I will be a quarter of a century old - GAH!

It is a big milestone birthday and because of that, I want to do something AWESOME! I would love to go to Disneyland...but as of right now I'm not sure that's going to happen. I do have another event happening later in March, but I am not at liberty to blog about it yet. I will when I can. :o)

So...the reason I am blogging about my birthday now my dear internet friends is because I need some ideas of what to do for my birthday that are not expensive and I can do them here in Utah.  I want to have an awesome birthday party to celebrate. I'm thinking a mocktail party would be really fun but any other ideas you might have would be welcome. I really want to have it be a "themed" party - like a fiesta party or toga party or something. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

The other thing I wanted to blog today is the Friday Fill-ins. It has been a long time since I have participated in Friday Fill-ins and today I am going to do it. :o) Enjoy!!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to cleaning my room *sigh*, tomorrow my plans include teaching, a teacher meeting, the gym, a bridal shower and date with Dr. Teeth and Sunday, I want to enjoy my stake training meeting and set up my visiting teaching appointments!

Dating Battle Stories: The Australian

So. I haven't posted ANYTHING about any of my Dating Battle Stories. I am quickly getting very behind in all the stories. So. I've decided to do a few posts in the next week or so to bring us up to speed on each of the cast of characters that I posted about on Christmas. Some of these characters have lots of stories, some have zero stories. One of these characters is most likely never going to be featured on the Dating Battle segment after his recap, a few of them will probably be around for awhile.

I hope you understood all of that.

So. Today. I present: Dating Battle Stories: The Australian.

I met The Australian on the second Monday of December. I came home from running 2.75 miles and there he was sitting in my living room with Roommate A and her boyfriend. He was definitely cute. We exchanged a handshake, names and a smile. Some flirting commenced. Now, due to my sudden change in social status I was a little worried about how well I really could flirt with someone new. I needn't have worried. I left the living room after chatting for an hour to go take a shower. Just before getting in the shower I sent my roommate a text saying "Don't say anything but The Australian is SUPER cute!" and she replied with "He thinks the same about you, but you didn't hear it from me."

I took a super fast shower, and went back into the living room to join the gang for a movie. The Australian was sitting in our ever famous blue cuddle chair, the roommate and her boyfriend on the couch. I had two options - sit on the floor, or sit with The Australian. I offered to help complete the awesomeness of the cuddle chair and the Australian accepted. What followed was a 2 movie marathon cuddle session. It was awesome and fun and as the Australian left I knew that he would be a fun person to hang out with more.

Fast forward a few days. Sister B and her boyfriend invited me to go to Temple Square and see the lights with them. I agreed and after agreeing decided that I didn't want to be the third wheel. I tried two of my friends - both were unavailable. Then...Roommate A decided that The Australian should go with me. She texted him and after waiting TWO days to get a response (during which time Dr. Teeth and Sweetums both offered their services) he agreed! Off to Temple Square we went! We had a blast!! We flirted, held hands, and teased Sister B and her boyfriend. It was a very pleasant evening. We then came home to drink apple cider and hot chocolate and watch the Claymation Christmas Celebration.

Fast forward another week. I come home from hanging out with Mad Dog (more about that later) to find The Australian in my living room. I sit down next to him and finish watching whatever he and my roommate and boyfriend were watching. It was fun. He needed a ride to the airport two days from then and I said I could take him. So I did.

Then it was Christmas break. I didn't talk to him at all. He was in Australia after all.

New Years Day. After getting a pitiful 5 hours of sleep (more on THAT later too) Roommate A, her boyfriend and I were out grocery shopping. The Australian declares he is back in Cougartown. We drive to his house and kidnap him. We watched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and then played video games. I took him home. It was fun. We cuddled more...etc etc.

Two days ago he declared on Facebook that he is in a relationship...with some girl. Roommate A hates her. Her Boyfriend doesn't like her either. But apparently...The Australian likes her. So...needless to say The Australian was fun while he lasted, but I probably won't see him again for awhile and when I do? Nothing will probably happen. Especially if he still has a girlfriend. Oh well. He was a fun little fling that I am counting as my "rebound."

So there you go. The Australian. Short lived mini-romance that really didn't go anywhere - but that's okay! I'm not sad or depressed or anything. I never thought anything would happen there anyways. He is 3 years younger than me and just getting going on his undergrad. :P

p.s. if you made it through that entire recap I am much impressed. kudos to you!

Disappointed

Last night I attended Brigham Young University's ever popular World of Dance. Each main dance company (i.e. Cougarettes, Dancer's Company, International Folk Dance Ensemble (IFDE), Ballroom Dance Company, and Theater Ballet) each perform a few pieces. I have gone for the past 3 years. It is usually a really fun performance with great pieces to be enjoyed. This year however, I wasn't wowed like I usually am. The Cougarettes' pieces, while good, seemed to be the same thing they always do, nothing special by any means. IFDE was kinda boring this year. They did one piece that I had never seen before, but none of their pieces were amazing. Just bleh. Ballroom Dance Company was by far the best performing group of the night. Even though I had seen all three of their pieces at other shows, they did 3 of my favorites, including Do Wah Diddy, which is my favorite cha-cha ever, and my friend was in it (there were only 3 couples) and he lit up the stage as the best guy out there for sure. Theater Ballet did two pieces, both pieces that Ballet Showcase has done before, and they didn't seem as cool when we did them. They did them well, and they did better than they have done in past years at World of Dance, but honestly...Ballet Showcase has cooler pieces for our show in November right now.

Overall, I wasn't that impressed with World of Dance. I had a lot of friend and my friend Dr. Teeth that I have known since I was 14 went with me. We went in a group with some other friends of mine and prefaced the show with dinner at P.F. Chang's which was good and followed the show with games and Dr. Teeth playing his guitar. It's been ages since he and I had hung out and he had a couple new songs for me. So the company was good and I had fun, but when the show is kind of disappointing it's sad.

Now it's Sunday, and I slept through choir, mostly because I needed to catch up on sleep, it's been a rough week. Today I get to read some conference talks for my religion class and sew new pointe shoes. :P

General Conference is this next weekend, and I am so EXCITED!!! I don't really have any plans for conference. I kind of want to go to a session, but I haven't found anyone who wants to try and get tickets. Not that I've really asked around yet. lol. I'm also trying to decide if I want to carry on my tradition of making orange rolls for conference...they're yummy, but I only like to do that if it's for other people. So i guess it will depend on what my plans end up being for conference. :)

first week of school, and a dead cell phone

so here is the update, its been a great week, went by pretty well for the first week. and for the first time in 3 semesters i don't have to change my schedule!!! More on that later...

Monday
So i woke up and went to work, work was very busy, and that was great, cause i hate it when work is boring. it kind of drives me nuts.
then i went to ballet. i love 391R class! it was amazing! so after that i went to pointe, but we didn't have to dance for pointe b/c 390R didn't dress out. so that was cool. then i changed and went to stats. and guess who is in my class? Toffer! I know him through my dancing friend SG. So that was pretty cool. Toffer is pretty awesome and its nice to already have a friend in stats.
well stats and history are in the same classroom right after each other, and i was sitting in my seat waiting for history to start when guess who i saw walk in? Syrup!!! I was soooooo excited!!! so now i have a friend in history too. syrup came and sat next to me and we kind of got caught up in the each other's lives and i am excited for history now.
then it was off to sharing the gospel. which is an awesome class and i love it! its great.
fhe was good, then i came home and did homework. it was all swell.

Tuesdsay
another day of work, which went by quickly. i skipped devotional cause i felt like it. then i went to my healthy living class. that class is going to be the bain of my existence. i hate it. but oh well. i'll do what i can to enjoy it. yeah right. so then i change and go upstairs for ballet, but ballet had been cancelled b/c the prof. wasn't going to make it to teach. so i got to go home earlier than normal. i took care of some things in the apt. then MC picked me up for company. we went up to lindon and company was great! after that i came home and did more homework. yeah for me being responsible. :p

Wednesday
work work work. i love earning money for work!! :D then it was off to ballet, where i am informed in ballet that level placement would be happening that day and thursday, crap...i think i don't want to be in 390R again. so i start working my butt off.....and get sore in the process. pointe was good but my feet hurt cause i had broke in new pointe shoes that night before. then stats, followed by history. ok funny story here. so i am waiting for history to start right? well...i know that syrup is going to be there, so i save him a seat and wait for him to come in. well i finally see him come in, and i give him a big smile, and then wink at him. (it was a very flirty wink fyi) he holds my gaze....and winks back!!!!!! it made me laugh. then he comes up to me and says 'you saved me a seat!' and i said 'what else was i going to do??' so we sat together and it was grand. after history i came home ate dinner and then dr. teeth came over and we rehearsed for our piece that is going to be shown in like 5 weeks. hurrah. it was a good rehearsal. then i did more homework, watched the mens basketball game, which we lost. but hey, its all good.

Thursday
work, no stats lab so i did some reading. then i went to ballet, i am sooo sore it wasn't even funny. they watch us so the now how to place us. they talked to us afterwards, and guess what?!! I get to stay in the 391R class!!! they aren't making me change my schedule for the first time in 3 semesters! i was super excited!! then i left immediately and went to teaching, which after that i had a 1/2 hour break and then we left and went to orem for company (lots of dancing i am telling you, its great.) after company i did more homework and went to bed really early cause i was super tired.

Friday
work again....then ballet. i was so sore...but i worked hard. i need to keep working hard. pointe was good. then stats. toffer makes me laugh. i like sitting next to him in class. then history. syrup came in and sat next to me. :) i really like that kid. its great. after history we actually talked some more ,a little about his mission too, which was cool to hear about it, even if i did write him. so then i came home and had to go to the bathroom, well my phone was in my back pocket, and it fell in to the toilet. it was only in there for a few seconds, but it stopped working .i was devestated. so then i had a date cause becky asked me to double w/her and her blind date. i took DB my hometeacher from winter 2005. we went to the men's volleyball game and jamba juice. it was SO much fun. DB is a cool guy and i like him too...

Saturday
after letting my phone dry overnight, i find that it still works. i was ecstatic. :D but then....after company and teaching ,and the teacher meeting (actually during the teacher meeting) it stopped working. and its not working as of right now. i don't know what i am going to do. there is the exact same phone on ebay so i might just have to buy it. but still....it is kind of driving me nuts that my phone isn't working. my mom tells me i should just live w/out it until we can upgrade in april, but i can't do that. so many ppl only have my cell phone number, its my life. so i might just have to buy a new one. i am going to t-mobile tomorrow to figure things out. yuk. i also have rehearsal tomorrow, but that's cool cause i get to learn my part for Firebird which we are performing in a few weeks. hurray for the show! well i need to get ready, so i am out of here...! :)

This is so.....true. Is it not? Well it is. anyways i called j.a. last night. :D he's going to call me today and get email address info for me to get conference pictures, and then he's not quite sure if he can go on saturday or not. it kind of just depends on his schedule. so he's going to call me. :D guess what made my day yesterday? the fact that i saw him!!! as i was walking to ballet class i practically ran into him, it was awesome, and put me on this great high. :D anywho....uh....Dr.Teeth stopped by with music last night for our pas de deux that we are performing in february. i am very daunted by this task of doing the choreography. it will be interesting. i need to check out some movies of pas de deuxs to watch. sight. k i am done. that is it for now.

what has happened in a week....

not much to be honest. sorry its been so long. i know im a loser. bleh....so lets make a bullet list of what has happened since i posted a week ago and what is good about my life:
The Good and Bad of Alishka Babushka

1. the fourth of july happened. this weekend i partied w/my family. we watched the stadium of fire fireworks from my apt. parking lot, and had a GREAT view of them. i went home, had some good home cooking, and all that jazz
2. also went shopping this weekend. bought some new clothes, spent money i shouldn't have, but oh well. i justify the need for my jacket i bought, my office is freezing!!!
3. went back to school/work on tuesday, which was nice to have a 3-day weekend, but at the same i almost died from the wonderful sunburn i recieved on monday. yuk yuk yuk
4. went and sat "War of the Worlds" with my coworker DH. It was fun, we are getting teased about 'dating' even though there is nothing like that there. oh well. we're good friends, it was a good movie, but not a happy make you feel good type of movie. if you get my point.
5. did my laundry, took ballet class, oh and checked out a few books for my pleasure. many of them are off a reading list i recieved from one of the writers (Katya) from the 100 Board. good stuff.
6. today is finally friday. plus it is payday, halleighluiah (sp, i can never remember...)
7. i found out that my good friend Dr. Teeth, broke up w/his gf that wanted to give it another go. don't know what that means for me yet, all i know is that i want a few more serious relationships before i get married. and if he is one of them,then great. if not, we're good friends, and i enjoy the time we spend together. he he he.

i think that is it for now...have a fun weekend y'all! (not that anyone reads this....oh well.)

Smelly Hair

So i permed my hair last night, and it looks super cute, but i hate the smell. weird chemical smell...yuk yuk yuk, but hey the sacrifices we make to look good. man. anywho, tonight i am going to pirates of penzance w/my good friend dr. teeth. that will be fun. i think i still have a crush on him, i keep trying to talk myself out of it, but hey i'll enjoy what i can get. what else has happened...oh yeah! my date w/joe: BIG SUCCESS!!! We had soooooo much fun, and it was a super good date. alex , mike, suzy, and nick had fun too! nick, even though he is only 17, acted a lot older, and he fit really well into our group of people, we ended up having one other blind date couple, one of joe's friends. it was super fun.
anywho...i can't think of anything else to write...

cali was amazing...but now i fell like i am in seattle...what happened to utah?!?!

with all the rain utah has been having as of late it feel like im living in seattle. in fact i woke up the other morning and said to myself "Toto, i don't think we're in Utah anymore." ha. hopefully what the weather man says about today being the last of the cold storms is true. it better be, or else he just might get it coming.... so catch up on boy, we decide after a walk and talk to be friends right? well...
one week later... tuesday i drive in his car to heber to test it out, and we got shakes.
wed: we watch count of monte cristo togther, nothing happened, but good movie.
thurs: he calls me to double w/him and a blind date he got set up on, kinda weird, but it was fun. (see previous blog..i know i wrote about this, and you are getting just as many details now as then. :D )
fri: i see him, steal his truck to go shopping, get called to go on a date w/my friend teddy, jason and i talk about hiking, he invites me to go to zions on sat.
Sat: he picks me up from teaching, we go to zion's national park (my first time ever) we talk alot, i met his grandparents on the way home, cutest grandparents ever! we get home late
sun: (two weeks after our 'talk') i eat dinner w/his fam. and we watch the c.e.s fireside together good fireside. we laughed, then we watched pirates. again nothing happend, but good movie.
THEN, the following weekend i go to california for my roomamtes wedding ,so much fun! and we just had a blast.
The tuesday after i get back (one week ago) i go to say hi to him, and end up watching the day after tomorrow w/him. some how when he sits next to me he puts his hand on my knee for like 10-15 minutes, and then gets up to finish cleaning where we were watchign the movie. then he came back and got under the covers with me. so yeah. he is one confusing kid. super confusing.
so did i ever tell you about my hs love? well the girl he dated in hs (she graduates next week) is ENGAGED. so now...(even though he is on a mission) she isn't waiting for him, like i swore she would, so i never thought i'd have a chance when he got back, cause everyone knew they were meant for each other. so yeah. crazy huh? i almost feel like i kinda have a chance, although i always knew that i wouldn't wait for ANYONE. but part of me wonders what will happen if im still single when he gets back, in 20 months....agh! the agony!

AND to make life even more exciting, i have this friend, let's call him Dr. Teeth...well doc here danced with my company for a number of years, in fact that is how i met him. at the time though he was like 23 and i was 14. so 5 years later, and many dance performances, im now 19 and he 27. he's still single, and what do ya know, so am i. we've crossed the line where we can only be like bro and sister, and we hang out from time to time. he knows i like to cuddle so we have a cuddle session from time to time. i enjoy my time with him. so tomorrow night we are going to go and see Robots at the dollar theater, which should be lotsa fun.

i don't think im forgetting anything, oh excpet i had two more friends get engaged. bah humbug. no not really, they are crazy to be engaged, but im okay with it. anywho....until next time. ciao
