Lunch Time

As a college student, I have found that meal planning is awesome. There is no one to tell me what I can or cannot eat. I love cooking yummy meals for SwingKid and I...but I also love eating whatever I want, whenever I want.  For example, today for lunch I am having brownies and french fries. he he he. I am the coolest college student ever!! :-)

5:00-6:00 - eat food. don't ask me what. it wasn't healthy...

6:00-7:30 - Relief Society Broadcast. Awesomeness

7:30-8:30 - finish cleaning room, talking to my great friend Wiwi Kalawi

8:30-11:00 - swing dancing. love it. lots of it. yay!

As well as a 2 page paper on World of Dance. sigh. looks like I'll be up early Monday morning. ha ha ha. Today was totally worth it though. Such a great day. I know of one thing that would make it better....but alas, it was not meant to be. oh well. have a great Sabbath all y'all!!

Guess what?! It's Friday!

1. Fall leaves, pumpkins, and Halloween are some of the things I'm most looking forward to in October.

2. Sometimes I just like to curl up in a ball and sleep.

3. Once upon a time I thought I would never teach a university class, but now I am... and that's why there is a saying, "never say never"!

4. When I'm down, I eat a lot of junk food and sit in a corner and cry.

5. In the dance studio is where you'll find me most often.

6. A rainy day is good for sitting in front of a fireplace with a good book in the arms of your significant other.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing with SwingKid, tomorrow my plans include homework, the Relief Society broadcast, and swing dancing and Sunday, I want to enjoy the Sabbath!

Tagged

My beautiful Chillygator tagged me this morning. I guess she wants me to blog more...or something. So, I'm obliging her wishes and giving you six things about me that maybe (?) you don't know.

1. I am not taking any ballet classes this year. This is the first time that I haven't been enrolled in some ballet class since I was 5 years old. That's a long time folks. Not gonna lie, it's been kind of nice not having ballet lately. Modern is enough for me!

2. I am scared stiff to fly home for Christmas. It scares me that I have to get on a plane and have luggage and all that stuff. You know what would make it better? This beautiful luggage set. ;)

3. I can eat a lot. Seriously, if I am hungry, I can hold my own when it comes to eating lots of good food.

4. I don't drink milk. It makes me sick. I like it in things, but I cannot just drink a glass of milk. ewww.

5. I like photo shoots. A lot. I think they are fun. I enjoy putting my face in front of a camera. :-)

6. I have a think for shopping for shoes. I love shoe shopping. I love buying new shoes and I love wearing those new shoes with a cute (preferably new) outfit! Yay for cute new shoes.

Now...I tag any of you who read this and feel inspired to blog more about you and not just what you do. :-) Ready....Set....GO!!!!

bah!

I can't focus. At all. This is a problem. I need to do research. (side note: BYU's website is having issues and won't let me do research. This is a problem. a BIG one. I don't wanna go to campus.) I need to do reading. I don't want to read. I need clean clothes...that's acutally getting done as I type.  I think I need someone to help me focus and I know just the person. Too bad he's a being good and is at Institute...

Happy Blurker Amnesty Day!!

so...Tiburon who is absolutely brilliant has declared today, September 22, 2008, Blurker Amnesty Day. She gave a lovely description that I am going to cut and paste here:
I hereby proclaim that September 22nd, 2008 shall be Blurker Amnesty Day. You are probably saying to yourself - "Self, what is Blurker Amnesty Day?" Well this is the day that all blurkers can (and hopefully will) comment and make their presence known without penalty. You may even be saying to yourself - "Self, what is a blurker?" To answer you again, oh inquisitive one - a blurker is a blog lurker. Someone who reads a blog but never posts any comments.

So my unobtrusive friend - I am calling you out. In exchange for your comment, you have my solemn promise that I will not stalk you or request a comment from you in the future. Amnesty.

In case you are saying to yourself - "Self, how do I comment on a blog?" Well, I can answer that as well. Simply click on the area that says X # of people had something to say. You will see a comment box pop up. If you are signed into blogger then you can type your comment and click submit. If you don't have a google account then type your comment and make sure to include your name and perhaps your location (so I know who you are) and select anonymous. Then click submit. It is just that easy!
Isn't Tib just brilliant? I know I requested many moons ago to hear from all my blurkers back on my birthday, but with this wonderful invention of this holiday, I'm going to ask again. I want to hear from YOU!!!  I love all people who read my blog, and want to meet you! So, help me in celebrating this great holiday!!! :-)

BYU WINS!!

I love my BYU cougars. I grew up loving them and I still love them to this day. I have been with the cougars through the good times and the bad times. Life is good for us Cougars these days. As of today we are ranked 11th in both polls. Don't believe me? Just check it out for yourself. Rock on Cougars, rock on. If you want to see how we tromped the Wyoming Cowboys 44-0, check out this awesome slide show. Go COUGARS!!!

Introductions

I have been promising, people have been asking, and I am finally now delivering...an introduction to my new apartment of Roommates!

In the middle of August one week before my family left me I said good-bye to Roommate S, Roommate C, Roommate A, Roommate H and Roommate E. I still talk to all of them all the time, and Roommate A and I hang out from time to time.

My new roommates are cute girls and I do get along with them quite fantastically. There is Roommate J, Roommate R, Roommate M, Roommate LX and Roommate LZ. They are fun girls.

The stats on the girls.... 2 are sophomores, 3 are freshman. 1 is from Utah, 1 is from Idaho, 1 is from Oregon, 1 is from Virginia and 1 is from Maryland.  4 of them are blondes, 1 is brown-blonde like myself.  3 of them are sort of dating someone, but they are weird relationships. They all graduated from High School in the past 2 years, while I have been out of high school for 4 years. I am 3 years older than most of them, 2 years older than the rest of them. I am definitely seen as "old" (in a good way) and could also be considered the "mother" of the apartment.

I love my roommates, I really do. They are a lot of fun to talk to and do things with, but they are young. VERY  young. There are many times when I just want to escape and do things with just SwingKid. Lucky for me, he's usually willing to oblige. he he he.

Anywho, there you go. The low down on Roommates J, R, M, LX, and LZ. I'm sure there will be many more stories pertaining our adventures, so stay tuned!!

a lovely evening

Tonight was a wonderful night. SwingKid and I had a wonderful date planned in which we had dinner together and then attended BYU's World of Dance. Some of you might remember last year in which I was extremely disappointed.  That was definitely not the case this year. Many of the groups did pieces I had never seen before, I knew a majority of the cast, and overall I enjoyed every piece.  The best part is that SwingKid also enjoyed much of the show.  Also, he looks very good when told to "dress nice." ;) A blue button up with brown slacks is very good looking on my man. I like it. :)

Sigh...after World of Dance ended SwingKid and I took a nice little walk to the new Hinckley building on campus. It was fun and an absolutely gorgeous, perfect evening for such a walk. Sigh. I'm pretty content right now.

3.
Reading for my classes is all I managed to do.

5.
Good tidings of great joy is the message.

things I long to achieve each day.

who knows what, tomorrow my plans include World of Dance and Sunday, I want to practice the piano!

What is this feeling so sudden and [not] new?

i am feeling very uneasy, unsafe, and concerned tonight. i am not sure where these feelings are coming from or what has stemmed this sudden onslaught of negativity. I do know that I want it gone asap. I have a suspicion on where they could be coming from, but I have a stronger idea that it's all very compound; because let's be honest, when is my life ever easy? Sometimes it sure feels like my life is flowing easily, but lately I have been struggling.

things I have been struggling with

1. my family leaving. this has been harder on me than i really thought it was going to be. i put up a strong front...but it's hard and so far it hasn't seemed to get any easier.

2. my roommates (i know i haven't blogged about this yet, i will! and really, the struggles aren't THAT bad when it comes to them. I love 'em to death...just not all the time.)

3. finding music for my senior project. this is seriously stressing me out. I'm having so many issues with this it's not even funny. I need music. Finding the right music would surely help calm my soul and I would feel better about life.

4. knowing who i truly am and what i want to be when i graduate. graduation is looming closer and closer and while i keep saying that i don't know yet, and there's a plan for me, i just don't know what it is yet and blah blah blah....this doesn't rest easy with my soul tonight.

Anywho. i'm fine. really. life is okay. i'm happy. i have people that love me, and i talk to my family all the time. BUT that doesn't mean that sometimes i have down times where I just feel like I need to cry. That was tonight. Why the tears didn't come earlier I don't know, but as I type and the tears start to flow....sigh. i hope things get better.

update: it's amazing what a little phone call can do for you. especially when it comes from someone who cares about you. sigh. i can now go to bed with peace in my heart.

Crazy Monday

It all started when I decided to turn over in my bed and sleep for "just 5 more minutes." right. How often does that work for you? It didn't work so well for me. I bolted upright in my bed at 7:20 am. I like to leave on the days I drive to school (such as today) at 7:20 am so I can get a decent parking spot and then pull myself together before class.

Lucky for me, I know how to get ready fast. Change from pajamas to school clothes 1 minute. Brush hair, 1 minute. Put in contacts, 2 minutes-ish. Grab flip-flops, bags, and bagel run out the door. I think I left somewhere between 7:25 and 7:30. I got to campus and got THE BEST SPOT EVER! I then got myself a Jamba Juice and read all my reading for my 2 classes today before my first class started, because I'm awesome like that.

Hope your Monday has been calmer than mine!!!

Ballet is cool

Leggo my Eggo!!

So...back in the day I saw these commercials on TV and though, "Hey, those look pretty good!" However, my mother would never buy me Eggo waffles so I never got the chance to truly try them and see if they were as amazing as they seemed to be on TV.

THEN...my family moved. When they moved, I inherited much food from both my parent's and my grandpa's fridges and freezers. In one of those freezers (grandpa's) were strawberry flavored Eggo waffles. I was SUPER excited to get the chance to try Eggo waffles and see if they really were as amazing as the commercials made them seem.

They weren't. Honestly, it was like eating strawberry cardboard. They weren't fluffy like real waffles. They just weren't any good. Lucky for me, I didn't pay for these Eggo waffles...otherwise I would probably be just a smidgen upset.

My mom must have known what she was doing when she decided to not listen to my pleas. She must have known that those Eggo waffles weren't as good as homemade waffles...and like always, mom was right. :-)

gone, gone, gone

My family has been gone for 2 weeks now. It actually hasn't been that bad! Having school and teaching start up has been helpful because it keeps my mind occupied. There have been a couple of days that I wished they were closer so I could call my mom and it would be my time and not her time (silly 2 hour difference) BUT I'm doing okay. I can still call her, it's just weird for time to be different for us. I have had some weird dreams with my family being gone and then coming back and just odd things all around, but I don't remember much about them right now. Sorry.

Anywho, the point to this post is that I miss my family, and I can't wait to go to Virginia for Christmas break. :-)

First September Friday....

A little different Friday Fill-in for your pleasure!

1. If I was to walk into your life, you would learn how to dance pretty quickly.

2. Catch a bright star and place it in your pocket.

3. And you can send me to Paris, because that would rock.

4. Life is great, but I'm dealing with a memory that never forgets.

5. I'm the innocent bystander / Somehow I got stuck waiting for things to happen.

6. What's keeping us apart isn't selfishness, it's time.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to something relaxing, tomorrow my plans include carpet cleaning, BYU Football, and auditions for Swing Kids and Sunday, I want to enjoy Regional Conference and do some service at a rest home!

S'wonderful...

So happy right now. :-) Today was a great day, even though I came home in somewhat of a sour mood...but in the end, and looking back on today, it has been pretty fantastic.

My favorite part of my day today has been hanging out with my new roommates (a post coming soon, I promise) and then going to visit SwingKid and watching I Am Legend with him, his brother, and parents. Even thought I have seen this movie before, I still jumped, got nervous with anticipation and hid my head into SwingKid's chest...not that he minded, I'm sure. After the movie ended SwingKid's Mom, SwingKid, and I all had a nice little conversation and then enjoyed a rap movie based off the book Breaking Dawn. Now, I warn you, there are spoilers in this rap video, so please don't watch it if you don't want the entire book spoiled for you. Enjoy y'all!

Since I've been gone...

I enjoyed my Labor Day weekend sans family and full of rain!!! :-)

Today was my last FIRST day of school. In other words, for this school year, today was the first day of school. Since I graduate in April, (HURRAH!!!) today was my LAST first day, and man alive am I excited about that! Things that happened today:

  • I woke up and made muffins. they were yummy, and i left some for my roommates. They now love me. ;)
  • I went to my total of 3 classes. It was awesome. I am super excited.
  • I taught my first BYU ballet class. Granted, we just went over the syllabus and got to know each other just a little bit...but still!!! It was awesome!
  • I looked ridiculously adorable. I love new school clothes oh so much!
  • I taught my advanced class in Springville. It went well, I was mean today, but that's all good. They needed it.
That's about it. It was an easy day, albeit a long one. Tomorrow should be a much easier day. Also, look forward to some awesome posts in that I have in the making. We will discuss such things as my 5 new roommates, Eggo waffles, and my family, just to give you a peek at the comings to this blog. Rock on guys, rock on.
