A Few Open Letters

Dear January -

I am sort of sick of you. Sure, you brought some happiness and cake into my life, but right now the dreary, cloudy, grey, foggy nothingness you are producing sort of suck. Please be over now.

Thank you,

Dear Birds outside of my Office -

Thank you for chirping each morning and giving me hope that spring is closer than it seems right now. If I had a bird feeder I would put something special in it.

Many thanks,

Dear Hair on the Top of my Head -

I am sort of getting sick of you. Don't get me wrong, I love how sassy and cute I feel with my light brown and blonde highlighted locks. I love how much SwingKid enjoys it and how flirty I feel each day. However, I am getting very bored of the blondeness. It hasn't been quite a year since I went blonde and I'm feeling its time for a change. I have plans to change you quite drastically the week of my birthday, but that is still 4 weeks away. I'm not sure I can last. So please, try to make me happy for a month okay?

Thank you,

a post ACL surgery update

Since I passed my 3-month mark post-op this last weekend, I thought it might be high time to give the blogging world a more comprehensive update on my right knee.

As you might know, I had ACL reconstruction surgery on my right knee.  I was told that it would be 3 months until I could run, and 6 until I could dance. I probably could have started running earlier, but I obeyed the doctor (much to the dismay of my phsyical therapist! he's all for pushing me REALLY hard). On the 14th of January I got the clearance to start running and being more active - being VERY CAREFUL with dancing. Still have to talk to the physical therapist about this (i've been too sick to go....) but I did go blues swing dancing last Thursday.

Well, last night I unfroze my Gold's Gym account and jumped on a treadmill. I ran about 1.60 miles in about 25 minutes at a very steady pace. I felt very good about myself at the end of the run and tried to stretch generously.  This morning my butt was a little sore and my legs ache a little bit, but I feel great. I am so glad I get to be more active again. I'm rather excited to get myself back into some really good shape and I'm hoping to run a 5k this summer. :o)

HUGE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!

well - i just heard:

January 25th, 2010 @ 4:01pm
PAYSON -- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will build a new temple in Payson. Church President Thomas S. Monson made the announcement Monday.
It will be built near 930 West and 1550 South, about a mile from the 800 South I-15 interchange.
The new temple will be built to help meet the needs of the growing Church membership in the area. The Church says it will also ease the heavy use of the Provo Temple, which is one of the busiest in the Church.
"Temples answer those soul-searching questions of the purpose of life, of why we are here and where we are going. They are sanctuaries from the storms of life and bless the lives of members of the Church who worship within their sacred walls," said President Monson.
According to the Church's website, there are 152 temples worldwide in operation or in the planning and construction phases.

YOU GUYS! This location is .6 miles away from  my parent's house that hasn't sold yet!!! holy freakin' cow! i am so excited about this!!!!

my weekend recap...

let's see. i had one goal right? 3 C's - craft, clean, cook.

I crafted. my apt. is starting to look a little more v-dayish and it makes my heart happy.

clean - uh...not so much. sort of, but not really. i might try to do better about this sometimes this week. maybe. no guarantees. life is busy.

cook. um. i cooked a TINY bit. but...i didn't make the treat i was going to make. maybe some point this week? again with the maybes...

one thing FOR SURE! I have the clearance to run on my knee. SO. tonight is back to the gym night. i am so freakin' excited. i will be running to my little hearts content all while watching Big Bang Theory. My favorite show ever. WEE!!!

also - SwingKid ended up NOT having a shift Saturday afternoon/evening so we spent the evening watching the US figure skating championships (women's long program) and i cut out hearts out of paper. it was SO fun, and very relaxing. I really enjoyed just SITTING next to my boyfriend. After that we had a nice, long conversation. Sunday I went to a couple church meetings with him, and again it was just nice to be with him. weekend turned out pretty fabulous. I even worked a little overtime. This next week should be 100x better than last week, especially because SwingKid and I are going to Tucano's for his birthday tomorrow night.  I'm pretty much going to starve myself tomorrow so that I can eat my full.  YUMMY.

If you follow me on twitter AT ALL then you know that this past week I have been to hell and back with work stuff. It's been sort of crazy. I did just get the go ahead to work some overtime so I can get some stuff done, and I'm pretty sure I'll take advantage of that. I have plans for myself this weekend to do 3 things: cook, clean, craft. I'm excited and will let you know how it all goes if I don't die before then.

1. You have a chance to come see awesome new choreography by yours truly Feb 1st and 2nd.
2. I want a vacation right now!
3. There is a high probability that the day after my birthday will be my own personal holiday.
4. I don't usually buy now and pay later. (except on big purchases mind you)
5. It's time to GET CRAFTY!!! (i'm really excited ps!).
6. My plans are still up in the air but my birthday will be awesome regardless (yes, i know it's 1.5 months away....I can still start planning!!).
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to My 3 C's plan, tomorrow my plans include rehearsal, probably some overtime work and more 3 C's and Sunday, I want to relax!

Friday fun

maybe. I haven't decided if today is going to be fun or not. see, i'm still sick and i managed to lose my voice somewhere between dinner with SwingKid's family and teaching ballet...and when you work customer service and don't have a voice, life is an adventure. :P OH! By the way, I had the best Filet Mignon last night cooked by SwingKid's brother. Oh my gosh. SO GOOD. sigh. I want more of it.

and here we go....

1. The lesson I learned yesterday was always have a Halls Breezers in my pocket. They saved my life yesterday and will do so again today..
2. Birthdays are where friends and family meet.
3. All these years without sickness and then WHAM I get the wickedest cold in the world..
4. The party was just getting started when I arrived.
5. The truth is I love being pampered when I'm sick but I hate BEING sick.
6. Sitting forever is what I remember most from that day.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to creating a poster (HAS to get done tonight. UGH), tomorrow my plans include hours of rehearsal and a teacher meeting and Sunday, I want to hopefully not be sick anymore!

p.s. SwingKid's work schedule has changed for the next however long he can handle it (full-time with school full-time) and so basically, I'm never, ever going to see him. SO if you want to play, please call me. I might just die for the next 4-6 weeks (the time he thinks he can last going at this rate) with no date nights. SO....yeah. Call me. Please. for my sanity.

a few random things

first, i have been awfully sick the past few days (if you follow me on twitter and/or facebook you're probably aware of this) and I finally went back to work for the first time today. I'm surviving. barely.

second, my wonderful ballet students have been working very hard and they have a show coming up on the 1st and 2nd of February. If you're in the UT county area, want to go to an awesome ballet/jazz show and see 3 pieces that I had a hand in choreographing, then please come! Tickets are being sold through the Covey Center.

thirdly, today is SwingKid's birthday. He's not a big birthday person, but lucky for him I am. He got a few birthday muffins this morning after working all night and tonight we're celebrating with his family. I have plans to take him to dinner sometime in the near future and just enjoy time together. I got him exactly what we wanted for his birthday...even if it will be a while before it actually COMES in the mail. (I'm rather upset about this)

So today, I just wanted to give a little shout out to my sweetheart: Happy Birthday Love!

Friday, January 08, 2010

oh my gosh, I am so super happy that it is finally Friday. Seriously, you have no idea. This week has been so super long and knowing that after I get off work at 5:30p tonight I'll have my weekend in front  of me is the best thing in the world.

1. There are places that are not cold right now. I want to be in one of those places.
2. I wish I could just blow those clouds away.
3. Standing in the doorway, I always go through my mental check list of having everything for the day.
4. I'm really excited for the next 3 months,  oh boy.
5. He went out tiger hunting and instead brought home an antelope.
6. Sometimes kisses can keep my mind from wandering .
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to some hot fudge sundaes and relaxing w/SwingKid, tomorrow my plans include teaching and a magic show and Sunday, I want to enjoy Ward Conference!

an open letter...

Dear Wednesdays -

It is a new year. You have the opportunity to improve yourself and make me at least not HATE you for the next 365 days. Everyone knows of my non-existent love for you and I for one would enjoy having that viewpoint changed.

So please Wednesdays, fix yourself. If not for me, then for all humanity. Thank you.

I think it's a good sign of things to come when New Year's Day is on a Friday. Life is just happy when you get an automatic 3-day weekend. :o)

1. Last night was a chill night, but so much fun.
2. I'm excited to live my life this year.
3. The funniest thing happen right after I wake up from a nap.
4. Even though i'm excited for life this year, I still where do we go from here?
5. He said Happy New Year sweetheart; she said Happy New Year babe.
6. I heard there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and it's up to us to find it.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to celebrating the 1st day of 2010, tomorrow my plans include lots of rehearsal and Sunday, I want to live, laugh, love!
