2 months of happiness plus an adventure in the mountains

Hey guys! How are all y'all?!

Last night Soldier Boy and I celebrated 2 months of happiness. I love being his girlfriend. It makes me so happy to do girlfriend-like things for him. I make dinner for us several nights a week and it is one of my favorite things to be able to do that. Soldier Boy loves it (what boy wouldn't?!) and is so appreciative it just makes me want to keep on doing it! sigh. Life is good in our little world.

So on Friday night this last weekend I told Soldier Boy that I wanted to go on an adventure. Well, his suggestion was that we go up Spanish Fork canyon and try out the natural hot springs that are up there. We've tried the ones in Saratoga Springs and the ones in Ogden, but not these particular ones. We'd heard good things about them and decided to give it a go. After looking up some information we decided to head on down. Now, we prepared to go on a little hike - but also knew that there would be close to a full moon so we thought we could do this hike without a flashlight. This was not a brilliant idea. Luckily, some kind samaritans saw our plight as they were hiking OUT of the canyon and gave us their almost dead flashlight. It gave us just enough light to get to the hot pots and back completely dying out right as we got to our car.

Now, we knew from our little googling before hand that this hike wouldn't be super strenuous and would be about 2.25 miles one way....well, what we didn't really think about is the fact that hiking at night takes longer because it is dark and even with a flashlight it's hard to see. So....our little adventure of hiking and soaking in the hot pots and the hiking back took WAY longer than either of us anticipated BUT it was a TOTAL success and was SO MUCH FUN.

One thing to note if you ever go these hot springs - the sulfur content is higher than any other hot springs Soldier Boy and I have been to in Utah. It turned my sterling silver CTR ring black. Granted, cleaning said ring with jewelry cleaner or silver cleaner will clean it right up. For now I'm leaving it because my ring looks SUPER awesome black. But I wouldn't wear any other jewelry in the future.

Just as a side note, Soldier Boy and I decided that our favorite hot springs are the ones in Ogden. I don't know if we'll ever go to the ones in Spanish Fork again. That long of a hike sort of defeats the purpose of relaxing...but it was absolutely beautiful up there. The view of the night sky was absolutely incredible. :o)

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 45th Edition

I was so sad to have missed Tender Mercy Tuesday last week, but I'm back this week! I have had a good past couple of weeks filled with so many different tender mercies that it is hard to pick which one(s) to share with you.

Let me start with last week - Last week we had Stake Conference and it was the most wonderful thing. It was exactly what I needed that weekend and it lifted my spirits and answered questions for me in my life.

My other tender mercy comes from last night. I had to make a decision whether or not to spend some one-on-one time with Monkey Man and most likely stay up late OR go to the gym and get to bed at a decent hour. I had told myself when I got into a relationship again that I didn't want to drop things that I like to do (like going to the gym) just to hang out with my significant other. However, last night I felt like it would be more beneficial to me AND my relationship with Monkey Man if I stayed and hung out with him.

BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Even though I only got 4.5 hours of sleep last night (i know, i know), the benefits of getting to be with Monkey Man were TOTALLY worth it. We watched a movie and after the movie was over, Monkey Man and I sat talking for over an hour and I learned so many things and got to know him even more and I found something out - he's committed to me. I mean, he didn't SAY those words exactly, but we were talking about the holidays and things coming up and Monkey Man told me he'd go to my work Christmas party w/me (we got our save the dates yesterday) and he's already put into his phone when I'm going to be gone to see my family. He told me he'd love it if I took him to DC someday, we're going to do something on New Year’s, he put my birthday in his phone...etc etc. And while that is just a whole bunch of little things that could or could not happen it's a BIG deal to me, because I’ve had past boyfriends that don’t like to commit to things in the future. Lots of guys feel that way. They don’t like to plan for things to far in advance just in case “it doesn't work out.”  I HATED that about those guys (or guys who would never plan ANYTHING *cough Grizzly Bear cough*.) Because, so what if we're not together THEN at least commit now and show me that I'm important to you! And Monkey Man did that. He hinted about meeting his family (well...warned me that I had no idea what they were like yet...and then kind of told me about them. It was fun) Also, he just....is amazing. I could tell when we were talking and discussing things that he cares about me and he wants to plan on spending time with me, and I love that so much. So there you go. A little insight to my current relationship, and while we haven't sat down and had a "DTR," I feel like I know where things stand based off of his actions and to me that is much better than any kind of DTR conversation we could have right now. :o)

Basically, I'm happy. Monkey Man and I are dating and it's so great. It's gone so smoothly and effortlessly that I can't help but wonder what is in store for us in the future. It's just GOOD and I like it.

Have a great Tuesday y'all!

Thursday Things

Hello my dears! Yesterday was quit the craptastic kind of day and I am soooo glad that it is finally Thursday! Thursdays are usually really good days in the office - plus they always consist of fun things for me in my personal life. :o) Even though I have to work tomorrow (ick) it will be all good because it is finally the weekend! So let's get to this shall we? I have lots of fun things to tell you!

  • Like I mentioned earlier yesterday was a really awful day. I came home from work and instead of getting myself to the gym like I should have - I took a 1.5 hour nap. That was WONDERFUL.
  • My Halloween costume consists of me using my superhero costume from my birthday. However, since going to the temple it's a little short for every day wear and seeing as how I want to wear out in public....yeah I added a purple ruffle to the bottom. It's 90% done and looks AWESOME.
  • Speaking of Halloween....I have SO MANY different things going on TOMORROW alone! I have to choose and decide what I am going to go to, but I just feel cool that I have so many options.
  • Tonight I'm dressing up for ballet class AND for Blue Tango's Halloween Bash. :o) I'm excited to dance in my costume. It's going to be GRAND!
  • Last night I played volleyball and Monkey Man did show up. I got teased endlessly by several ward members but it was all good. We left at the same time and were able to talk for a little bit in the parking lot. He's a sweetheart and while nothing is "official" we did talk about how fast we want this relationship to go - and we're both on the same page with wanting it to not fly out of control. I feel good about things and I don't think I'll be going out with anyone else for a little bit... :o) I did get a couple of kisses goodnight. I forgot how nice it is to kiss someone goodnight.
  • Seriously, I slept VERY well last night and I am attributing about 50% of that nice sleepingness to the good night kisses I received before going to bed. ;)
  • We don't have any set plans for the weekend....but I know he's not about to back down, I'm just not going to see him every day at this point. And like I mentioned to him - that's what I am trying to work on. See....when SwingKid and I broke up we had been dating for 2.5 years. We were at the point where I did see him every day, talked to him throughout the day and went through withdrawals when those things didn't happen. So I have forgotten how to gradually get to that point. I told that to Monkey Man last night and to be patient with me. I'm trying really hard not to get too crazy and to keep doing all the fun things I've been doing without a boyfriend and once we decide to get a little more serious then I'll see him more often and we'll incorporate each other more into our lives. Until then though....I'm NOT going to freak out and I'm going to continue to enjoy my life with a little added bonus of someone that I'm dating. ;)

  • We have Stake Conference this weekend and I just love Stake Conference. It is always SO GOOD. I'm looking forward to not having any extra meetings as well. :o)
  • I am feeling really good about today. It is going to rock. Hard Core.
  • I'm running in this 5k on Saturday with SwingKid. I'm hoping my time is better than the last 5k I ran unknowingly on a torn ACL. :o)
  • The work day started with me finishing putting out a fire that was discovered yesterday while listening to Journey's Don't Stop Believin'. Nothing can go wrong when that is the first song on your Pandora station.
  • My hair looks cute today. The end.
  • I'm wearing a comfy sweater today - see....nothing is going to be awful about today! I KNOW IT!
  • Pretty much, life is much better today compared to yesterday and I'm a happier camper for it. here's hoping everything continues to go swimmingly.
Have a great day everyone!  :o) I know I will!!!

things for a Thursday

I have always really, really liked Thursdays. There is something about a Thursday and knowing that your weekend is JUST about here that makes my heart happy. :o) Anyways, my mind is overwhelmed with several thoughts...so here we go! things for a Thursday!
  • There is exactly one week until Sister B's wedding. Hard to believe it's finally upon us!
  • There are 9 days until the show. GAH! I need to finish rat costumes!!
  • I got my hairs did last night. I'm very happy with how they turned out!
  • I also got super cute green glitter toes! Makes my heart happy!
  • I only have the work day today + the work day tomorrow and 2.5 ballet classes between me and what is probably going to be the BUSIEST week of 2011.
  • I am singing a solo in church in 10 days. I'm a tad nervous.
  • I changed my audition song for Aida....I'm a much happier person with the new audition song.
  • oh yeah, I'm auditioning for Aida. Yes, it's the same week as EVERYTHING else in my life, but I REALLY want to be in Aida!
  • I get to see my family in 4 days!! WOO HOO!!!
  • I have a lunch date with Percy tomorrow. :o) I'm excited for that!!
  • Have you seen the Google homepage today? It is awesome-sauce. Love it.
I feel like there are about 100 other things that I've been meaning to tell you...but I just can't think of any of them right now. sigh. oh well! Have a great Thursday peeps!

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 23rd Edition

Here we are friends. Another Tuesday.

I apologize for not posting yesterday. I had thoughts to make a post, but I just wasn't feeling it. Today I am grateful for the prompting I had to get myself out of my house and to my ward's FHE activity. I had a lot of other things I could have done last night - things for the show and the wedding that really have to get done very soon, but I put them aside and went to the Monte L. Bean Museum with my ward. It was great fun!! I made new friends and just had a blast. I have new friends and people to hang out with and this makes me really excited. Not that I have time to hang out right now, my life is so super busy!!! However, I'm excited to be getting to know people in the ward and what not. Makes my heart happy.

I'm not so happy that it is raining again - we had what feels like just a brief moment of sunshine. One moment in which I got VERY sunburned. I'm still in pain and it is no fun at all. I believe we're supposed to turn sunny again tomorrow but with more rain destined to arrive this weekend. I keep wondering if we'll ever see the sun for more than a few days at a time!!! sigh. Hope your week is peachy!

once there was a snowman....

Even though it hasn't started snowing...yet...I am still singing this little song from my childhood. Sigh. I am very much ready for spring. Although I know I shouldn't be surprised by the snow. I find it funny how many of my friends on Facebook claim that all the snow we've had in late March/early April is soooo unusual and that it must be the Apocolypse or something because OH MY GOSH it's SNOWING. Hate to break it to ya guys, but snow in late March/early April is VERY normal. It snowed 8 inches a week before my college graduation in April of 2009. It HAPPENS. ALL THE TIME.

ANYWHO. Let's get on with the more exciting things okay?

  • so first off, work has been insanely busy this week. Seriously. I am haivng a hard time believeing that it is already Thursday! Oh how time has flied!
  • My copy of Tangled finally arrived the other day. I'm pretty sure Roommate A and I are going to watch it tonight.
  • I am going to a concert/dance party tonight. I'm rather excited to attend!
  • I've won 2 free books this week! TWO! one from Emily and the other from Goodreads. I can hardly believe my good luck
  • My mom gave me a grow your own grass kit for my birthday. I planted the grass on Saturday afternoon and it has already started to sprout! yay! I love grass!
  • I know really awesome people. This makes me happy.
  • I had THE best dream last night. I dreamed that I was with a boy (not sure who) and the next thing I know he has tenderly taken his hands and put them on my face (sort of like this [also, doesn't that picture just make you swoon? I just love me some Richard Armitage) and kisses me. It was the best kiss ever. I only wish I knew who it was kissing me. I want to find them and try it in real life.
  • I am such a girl.
  • I am okay with the above statement.
  • Tomorrow is my day off. I love days off. I have a few fun things planned tomorrow including sleeping in, going to this temple and taking a ballet class.
  • I have 3 dates planned in the next 10 days. A fourth one is in the works.
  • Can I just tell you how happy it makes me that I have so many dates planned? I am not going to lie, I am loving dating right now.
  • I definitely feel blessed. In so many ways am I grateful to be living in such a time as this.
There you. A bunch of randomness for your Thursday afternoon. Have a great one guys!

    Quarterly Review

Hello again my dear readers. I know I didn't mention that I was going to do this, in fact I just decided a few weeks ago that I should do this - but I am conducting my own personal Quarterly Review on my Word of the Year progress.

I hope you've noticed the ever present reminder of my word of the year to the right -----> I have programed that nifty little button to take you to any post that I have labeled as one where I am flourishing. I just took some time earlier this month to go through and see what I have done and remind myself of my goals.

I already know that there are changes to my goals. I didn't make it to Disneyland for my birthday - and I know I WANT to go, I'm just not sure when yet. Also, I'm thinking I won't be attending the Dance Teacher's Summit. I really want to, but with my sister getting married in June and all the time I'm taking off then, I'm not sure I'll want to take that much time off this summer. We'll see. I'm still keeping it as a possibility. for sure. :o)

I had the wonderful experience of attending the temple for the first time and doing my own temple work. I wrote about what I felt like I could share here.

In other news - I have found SO MUCH HAPPINESS within myself. I feel as if my heart has healed. I've been dating like crazy and taking risks right and left. I feel more whole than I have in a long time and for this I am so grateful.

Honest to goodness, life is GOOD right now. While there are certainly things that I wish I had in my life - I know that I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am doing RIGHT NOW. This is THE BEST feeling a girl can have, in my opinion anyways.

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 16th Edition

Well here we are my dear internet friends. Another Tuesday. This past week has been chock-full of crazy, happiness and of course, my surprises.

The 3rd and final surprise was a bridal shower for my little sister. It was a fun, simple party that was enjoyed by all.

Also, it was GREAT fun to have my Mom here. I think that is one of my favorite tender mercies from the past week - seeing my mom! Getting to spend time with her and do fun things was so wonderful. I had 2.5 days off of work and it was nice to have a little mini-vacay even if I didn't go anywhere. I'll get another one of those in the June when I have both my sister's wedding AND the big, huge June recital happening. :o) It will be fun times.

Anyways, I have one other Tender Mercy that I want to share. It relates to my post from Friday. I got to go the temple on Friday and do my own temple work. It was an amazing experience receiving the blessings and making covenants associated with the endowment. I will always remember that day. My best friend, Truit, and her husband came and then my mom was there. I am excited to go again and again doing the temple work for my and others' ancestors. All in all, I have been astounded by the amount of love I have felt in the past several days. My eyes have been opened in so many ways and I know that I made the right choice in going when I did. :o) I am happy.

Now I am just getting ready for the 181st Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is going to be a good one, I can feel it. Not that there has ever been a bad one, but I know that this one is going to be just full of awesome. Hopefully spring will start coming, it's supposed to be REALLY nice on Friday but then snow on Saturday/Sunday. :o)

    Friday Foto

I love to see the temple, I'm going there someday today. To feel the Holy Spirit, To listen and to pray. For the temple is a house of God, A place of love and beauty. I’ll prepare myself while I am young; This is my sacred duty.

I love to see the temple. I’ll go inside someday today. I’ll cov’nant with my Father; I’ll promise to obey. For the temple is a holy place Where we are sealed together. As a child of God, I’ve learned this truth: A fam’ly is forever.

"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were big things." - Kurt Vonnegut

Good lovely morning my dear internet friends! Hopefully is happy in whatever part of the world you are in RIGHT NOW.

it's Thursday - and you know what that means, it's time for (bum de bum!)
Hurray Thursday Things!!! So without further ado...here we go!
    • I have one goal for this weekend and that is to live the quote above - enjoy the small things. I am a firm believer that small things effect our lives a lot more than the big things. I've learned this lesson the hard way so this weekend - it's all about the small things baby.
    • I asked Tron to go to a ballet in Bountiful that Dr. Teeth is performing in; however, Tron is going to be out of town and can't go. :( I did however ask a guy in my ward that is totally awesome and it should be fun times!
    • I don't work tomorrow and I am just SO EXCITED I just CAN'T WAIT! woo hoo! It will be a fun day filled with a temple trip with Sister B, an elementary school performance for my students, a night of RPG playing with my friends and hopefully me taking a ballet class. :o)
    • I finally got myself back to the gym this week after a week and a half hiatus. That hiatus was bad news bears guys. It has been SO HARD getting myself back to the gym. I need to never not go again.
    • The next two weeks are going to be SUPER busy but TONS of fun. I can't go into great detail here because some of the things happening are SURPRISES and peeps who read this blog are on the receiving end of the surprises. So....you all can just be surprised together after stuff happens! woot!
    • Longer days are upon us and springy weather is coming! What is also coming is the start of Daylight Savings Time and I hate this with all my heart and I am not looking forward to losing an hour of sleep. bah humbug.
What things are you thinking about today?

Tender Mercy Tuesday - Birthday Edition

Hello dear friends. I love Tuesdays. For me they have been such a great time for reflection and review of the past week. Sundays are also a good day for that, but after the craziness of a Monday it's always nice to take some time on Tuesday to look back and see what wonderful things have blessed my life in the past week.

I have had several small and tender blessings this week, but the one that stands out the most is one that happened on Saturday. I was getting ready for my birthday party when I received a phone call from a dear friend of mine, former RS President and former visiting teacher. She wanted to stop by and visit! I was so excited to see her. :o) She came bearing a wonderful birthday present (which was just SO thoughtful of her!) and apologies for not being able to come and celebrate with me. I didn't mind and I thought she was just the most wonderful thing in the world for stopping by to visit with me on her own time earlier in the day.

I have been so very blessed with the best friends in the world. I realized this weekend as I saw all the people who turned up to support me and celebrate my special day with me that I need to be a better friend. I need to return the favor of sending people little notes, dropping off a special something, or calling just to say hello. It's not that hard to be a good friend - I just need to do it. :o)

What has blessed your life in the past week?

    Thursday Things!

Good morning all y'all! Did you have a good hump day? Did you get through with everything intact? I most certainly did although some of my tasks I wanted to complete fell by the wayside, but hey c'est la vie right?

Anywho, I am full of random things so let's get this show on the road shall we?

    • first off, yesterday was Dr. Seuss's birthday. I didn't do anything to celebrate, but seeing my cute little Thursday things logo makes me happy.
    • I got my hairs did yesterday. I love going to the salon! It's so relaxing. I didn't do anythign drastic (although I considered it) and I decided last night that I'm not going to drastically cut my hair until after my 26th birthday. So...in a year. It's taken me a long time to get my hair long and I want to enjoy it! So...just a trim and color updates for me for the next year! woo hoo! (by telling you this, you're going to hold me to it right internets? can you handle that for me?)
    • My birthday in in FOUR days! I am so excited to turn 25. I really am! It's going to be the best year ever!
    • Speaking of birthdays, I'm having an awesome birthday party this weekend. I'll try to remember to take pictures and stuff. :o) Should be fun times!
    • I hate the yo-yo-ness of Utah weather between Winter and Spring. The  beginning of this week was just simply gorgeous and today....not so much. While I don't think O-town will see any snow, there will be plenty of rain and cold winds. :(
    • March is shaping up to be absolutely wonderful. I'm loving it!!
    • I haven't gotten much sleep this week - I've tried to get to bed I really have! However, things keep popping up that are either a) more fun, b) more important or c) more fun. What can I say? I'm a flirt.
    • Also, moments ago Tron texted me to just say hi and apologize for being too busy to talk to me. Honestly? I've been so busy myself that I haven't minded, but I definitely noticed. I'm so excited that this guy is thoughtful!
I hope all y'all have a wonderful Thursday. This weekend is going to be busy, but I most definitely like it that way. :o)

Dating Battle Stories: Tron Date #2

Hello folks. So, if you recall, I was rather excited to go on date #2 with Tron this past Saturday. Saturday ended up being a jam-packed day with teaching, shopping, errands, the SNOW, and getting ready for my date. I wore a cute button up cotton shirt with comfy jeans and my brown flats. I wore my hair half-up, half-down and tied a cute little bow in my hair. :o)

At 7pm sharp Tron showed up at my door and my roommate let him in. He took me to Macaroni Grill for dinner and let me tell you, that was the best Italian food I've had in a LONG time. I had the Roasted Chicken Cannelloni which is "hand-rolled pasta filled with roasted chicken baked with creamy arugula pesto and zesty tomato sauce."  Oh my goodness. That dish was heaven. I loved the creamy arugula pesto inside the cannelloni. mmm...my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was delicious!

After dinner we headed over to Color Me Mine. I had never been there and was very excited to try it out. We each picked out a mug and got painting. It was fun to be all creative like while talking and enjoying each others company.

After waxing creative we came back to my apartment and talked for a short while before Tron left to go home. We texted back and forth a bit later on that night and again on Sunday evening. I might get to see him on Friday if he does indeed pick up our mugs and bring mine by to my apartment. If all else fails there is a possibility he'll be at my birthday party on Saturday, but it depends on his soccer game that he has that evening.

Needless to say, I believe our second date was just as good as the first one. I'd love a third date, but we'll see whether or not that happens. In the mean time, I have only 500 bazillion things to get done between today and my birthday party on Saturday. I love being busy though! Keeps me happy. :o)

Dating Battle Stories: Intro to Tron

It's time for another introduction my dear friends. Today I am introducing you to Tron. Tron is the guy I met through an internet dating site. (I have made mention of him here and here). I was impressed first by his profile and second by the answers to the questions from the "guided communication" process said internet dating site offered. Soon Tron and I were emailing back and forth on a fairly regular basis.

A little over a week ago Tron asked if I would like to meet in real life and I said I would. We made arrangements to meet at a local Chili's. (one of my favorite places to eat!) So on Friday I got all cute and stuff and headed out to meet my first ever "match" from a dating website.

To say I had fun would be an understatement. The whole evening (aka dinner) was so much fun! Tron and I totally clicked and enjoyed tons of conversation and story trading. There was never an awkward moment. This guy is definitely grounded, confident, and solid. (Plus he's totally cute. :o) ) He gave me two hugs - one at the beginning of our date and one at the end. He's taller than me when I wear heels. A definite plus.

So after said dinner date, Tron walked me to my car and as we near my car he asked me if I would like to do "this" again sometime. I told him "I would love to." He then gave me my 2nd hug of the evening and off we went on our separate ways. Right after I got home I wanted to text him, but my roommate convinced me to hold off until the next day. Instead, she and I went shopping for fabric for my costumer for my birthday party and while we were out, Tron texted me! I waited a bit before I read and responded (I had to focus on my costume - the store was closing soon!) but it was nice to have him make first contact after the date.

Then Monday night I got a phone call from....you guessed it! Tron! He called to see how I was doing since we had seen each other and we made small talk and what not for several minutes. He then asked me when I would be available this weekend and I told him Saturday. He told me he hadn't planned anything yet because it would depend on what night I was free. Tron said he'd call me later this week to finalize plans. :o)

THEN! (I know, isn't this a great story?!) I was on Facebook last night after my workout at the gym and I noticed Tron was online. I debated starting a conversation with him, but decided to wait. I'm so glad I did because he started a conversation with me! We talked for a good 45 minutes or so about all sorts of things. I flirted hard core and he flirted back! He and I have talked about our interests and one of his is Soccer. I know nothing about soccer and he knows that. At one point in our conversation we got talking about Real Salt Lake. I guess they played a game last night and I asked when the season opened and what not. Well, I tried to be all excited about it, but he totally called me on it since I know nothing about soccer. :o) I told him that's because I've never had anyone to indoctrinate me. Tron then said, "Well, I'll be your indoctrinator if you want." I told him that I would like that. (see...flirty!) Anyways, he shared a link with me on an awesome soccer play under the guise that it would be my first in our lecture series. ha ha ha. This kid is great.

I'm a huge fan of Tron. He's been so nice and wonderful just in general! Our date Friday was honestly one of the BEST first dates I have ever been on and I am in major twitterpation mode. Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to my date with him on Saturday night. sigh. I'm liking this whole dating business. It's treating me fairly well. :o) Stay tuned for future updates! It should be good times. ;)

    Dating Battle Stories: Sleeping Beauty

Hey there guys! So I know it's been a week since I went to Ballet West's Sleeping Beauty with Church Boy, but life has been so busy!

Anyways, I wore just a simple black dress, a teal sash, awesome new teal shoes and teal earrings and bracelets. My roommate did my make up and it was AWESOME. I felt so pretty. Church Boy showed up at my apartment and I made dinner. It was good times. We had a wonderful time talking on the drive up to SLC and before the ballet started.

Oh the ballet. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I have never seen something so gorgeous in my entire life. The Rose Adage was just brilliant and the wedding pas de deux took my breath away. I was blown away by the technique and the artistry that Ballet West brought to the table with Sleeping Beauty. It was just amazing.

Anyways, Church Boy and I drove home and continued to talk and enjoy each other's company.  The funny part comes in the next day. After church and ward prayer (an activity where we all get together and have a spiritual thought and group prayer.) in which I saw Church Boy at both events. I was fairly normal and semi-flirty. After I got home from ward prayer I had a missed phone call and voicemail from Church Boy. I gave him a call back and we made a little bit of small talk and then he proceeded to say, "Alishka, I want to be honest with you. I just wanted you to know that I don't think our relationship is going anywhere but i still think you're awesome." I had to hold back the laughter. I hung up the phone and turned to my roommate and said, "WHAT relationshp?!?!?"  I mean really, we had been on ONE date!! I don't know where he comes from thinking that one date means that I want to be his girlfriend. Actually....I wasn't sure how I felt after that one date. I think I would have been okay not going on a date with him again. Anyways....it was a funny conversation to say the least.

Overall, the date was good, the ballet was INCREDIBLE and I am happy that I had good company.

Stay tuned for an update from my date the other night...the story is SO good. :o)

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 11th Edition

Good Morning my dear internet friends! I hope you had a splendid Valentine's Day and that life is treating you well. I have a random, itchy chin (well...underneath my chin) and I'm not sure what is causing it...but life is still happy!

I was reading in my journal last night looking at my daily tender mercies from the past week trying to find the perfect one to share with you all today. I am so blessed and I am not sure why, but I am so grateful for all of my many blessings. I think the best tender mercy this last week was realizing how lucky I got with my roommates. Roommate A and I weren't really good friends until about 8-9 months AFTER I moved in. Now, now we're best of buds. I love hanging out with her. She makes me laugh, teaches me how to play video games and helps me flirt with boys. Basically, she's amazing and I am so glad she's my roommate. She's the best roommate for me right now. It is amazing to me how much I have been blessed in my years of living away from home with roommates who seem to be perfect for me at that moment.

    Have a wonderful Tuesday y'all.

Tender Mercy Tuesday - 10th edition

Hello friends. It is Tuesday. Yay for Tuesdays!! I am loving Tender Mercy Tuesdays. I look forward to them so much each week. It is such a great time to reflect on where I am and what blessings I have had the past several days.

This week's Tender Mercy is simple in that I have been so blessed to be able to function and work while still being sick. I know that seems a little odd, but really - not having to take time off for work has been marvelous.

Also, I got some really good news on Sunday and I'll give more details in the future, but I just have to say my heart has been SO FULL the past few days. I have been so happy and blessed that I cannot even believe I am where I am right now. It's been a wonderful feeling.

Finally, I want to share an image with you that has just hit me really hard and I feel like it describes how I feel about my dating life EXACTLY. I have had a few frustrations with a few boys lately, but then I saw this and I KNEW that this is going to be dating mantra.Without further ado:

Isn't that just perfect? So yeah - boys must make an effort to be in my life. No space reserving in my heart. Love you all. Have a wonderful Tuesday and take time to find YOUR tender mercies.

    Dating Battle Stories: the Weekend!

Guys. Even though I've been in a raging battle with my sinuses all weekend I had a fabulous time!!

Let's start with Friday. Friday I stayed home and watched Sword and the Stone. I then went to bed before 10pm. I needed my beauty sleep!

Saturday I woke up and did NOT feel well. I called my co-director and told her I was too sick to teach. Instead I went back to bed. I woke up around 10:30 am. The extra sleep was EXACTLY what I needed. So I got up, took a shower and then went to lunch with a former ballet student. It was great and I loved sitting and chatting with her.  After that I went to the Museum of Art at BYU. I went with a guy from my childhood...let's call him Neighbor Boy.  I hadn't seen him in several years. We met up at the MOA and went to the Carl Bloch exhibit that is there right now. I'm telling you now, if you are in the area GO TO THIS EXHIBIT. It was AMAZING!!! So yeah, that was fun. We then went and grabbed some food at the Brick Oven. I love their lasagna. It is so yummy.

Then there was today. I love fast sundays. I have a new love for them. I didn't really like them when I was younger, but I just don't think I understood what great things can happen on Fast Sundays. Plus, there is testimony meeting. I love testimony meeting. It is always a booster for me. Good times. Then, I asked out a boy at church today. A few weeks ago I introduced myself to him and we talked for ages. He will now be known as Church Boy. So, Church Boy and I have been flirting for a couple weeks. After I called Sweetums on Friday and he was already busy for Saturday I decided I would take Church Boy.  So I asked him during a  break in classes today and he said YES! i got his number and we've been texting a little bit today. So I think the plan is that I'll cook something for dinner and then we'll go up to SLC to the ballet. I am rather excited.

So yeah, that's about it. It was a fairly good weekend - and I didn't watch the Super Bowl. So there.
